Thanks for the extra screenshot. I don’t understand why these two things are true at the same time: what you see on the canvas is different to what you see in the export preview, and; what I see on the canvas is the same as what I see in the export preview. If someone can figure that out then we’ll possibly have a better idea as to what the problem is. There’s maybe a chance that it might, possibly, have something to do with what’s being discussed in this thread about RTX 3070 and ICC profiles (or something) https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/189070-colour-management-question/ but that discussion is way over my head.

I’m not sure if it’s a bug or not at this stage. Are your graphics card drivers up-to-date? If not, have you tried updating them? Do you have any colour calibration on your monitor(s)? If so, can you give details? If you can also share a screenshot showing your Settings / Performance settings then someone with more knowledge in this area might have a better idea of what’s happening.

Welcome to the forums @mastersystem The size of the exported PDF is dependant upon lots of different things and it can get very complicated (way more complicated for me to properly understand it.). One of the main things that affects the size of the exported PDF is the number of images combined with their individual sizes. Here’s how I look at it, in a very basic way... By way of a quick example, a standard 4×6” photo at 300 DPI will contain around 2.16 million pixels (1200×1800 pixels), each of which – if the image is not compressed – will take – if there is no transparency – 3 bytes – if you are using 8-bit colours (1 byte for each of red, green and blue). So that’s a potential of around 2.16 million pixels per image, each pixel of which takes 3 bytes, which gives you an image size of around 6.48 million bytes, or around 6.4MB. If you have 550 such images then you can multiply 6.4MB by 550, giving you around 4.5GB. (You haven’t given us any details of the images you are using so this is just an example.) If you want to find a very crude ‘starting point’ estimate of what the exported PDF file size may be you can do your own calculation of the image sizes in your document to give you an idea of where you stand. All of the above is very simplistic, and it’s way more difficult than that to manually estimate what the PDF size will be, but it’s a good place to start. Basically, add up (or estimate) the individual image sizes and then see if that number is a lot larger than the PDF size. If it is then you might need to look at what’s happening. If not then, most of the time, it’s fine. (Other people may add extra details to this explanation.)

@Devil_Inside This thread relates to the V1 software which is only updated for fixes that are necessary to keep that software running after OS changes. If the problem is occurring on the V1 software only then it may never be fixed. If the problem is occurring on the V2 software then it would probably be better to report it ‘anew’, in the appropriate section of the forums, rather than ‘bump’ this thread. If you do create a new thread then please add a link to this thread to gave a 'historical context' to the issue.

self made LUTs work not
GarryP replied to beertje53's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Thanks for sharing the LUT. I’ve just tried to apply it to the same image in both Photo V1.10.6 and Photo V2.4.1 and nothing seems to happen. I tried a very different image, in both, and nothing seemed to happen with that either. Same in Designer V2.4.1. Hopefully one of the LUT experts will come along and be able to explain what’s happening. -
Save Style Set?
GarryP replied to David Battistella's topic in Feedback for the Affinity V2 Suite of Products
That sounds like a good way to do it to me. -
self made LUTs work not
GarryP replied to beertje53's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
“does not work” is a too vague for us to have an idea of what the problem could be. If you can share the LUT, and an image you are using it with, and tell us what you would expect to happen when applying the LUT to the image, we can have a look at them to see if we can find what the problem is. -
Save Style Set?
GarryP replied to David Battistella's topic in Feedback for the Affinity V2 Suite of Products
The current procedure for copying Text Styles from one document into another is to set-up the first document with the Text Styles as you want to use them and then import those Text Styles (or a sub-set) into another document. When you import the Text Styles you can select which ones you want to import, with the added option to rename any Styles which would create a conflict with existing ones with the same name. -
Move data entry
GarryP replied to Ash's topic in [ARCHIVE] 2.4, 2.3, 2.2 & 2.1 Features and Improvements
Since this thread is in a beta archive, and the related functionality is now part of the commercial releases, you might be better off making this request/suggestion in the ‘normal’ Feedback & Suggestions section of the forums. -

You're welcome. -
Text frame boxes are exporting
GarryP replied to TracyCul's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
I can’t see the screenshot as I don’t want to accept browser stuff from the imgur website. If you want to share a screenshot you can do so directly in the forums as you did earlier. I’ve attached a video showing me turning the Preview Mode ON and then removing the Stroke from a few Frame Text layers. 2024-04-16 13-18-13.mp4 -
Text frame boxes are exporting
GarryP replied to TracyCul's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Your Frame Text layers have a dark Stroke – select a Frame Text layer and look at the Text Frame Panel. Removing that Stroke – click on the colour swatch and press the ‘no entry’ button in the pop-up – should put things right. Note: For fewer surprises, you can (temporarily) put the application in Preview Mode to see the document how it will look when exported. -
Preflight warning PDF/X
GarryP replied to ymugmike's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
In your original post and title you say that you are using PDF/X but your latest images show you are using PDF 1.7. Are those the settings you used previously or are they the ones you are using now? We need to see the settings you are using now, the ones you are having problems with. And, as Walt suggested, we also need to know what your Preflight profile is using. -
JPEGs not converting from TIFs
GarryP replied to Nigel Kendall's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
I still don’t quite understand what you’re doing or what’s happening when you do it. Can you share a sample image, after the “converted as a batch in Preview” step, and give us a step-by-step workflow telling us exactly how to reproduce the issue? -
Preflight warning PDF/X
GarryP replied to ymugmike's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Since the message relates to PDF/X and the document colour profile, it might be useful if you could tell us which PDF/X version you are exporting to and which colour profile is being used in the document. Looking at Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PDF/X I can see that: "The purpose of PDF/X is to facilitate graphics exchange, and it therefore has a series of printing-related requirements which do not apply to standard PDF files. For example, in PDF/X-1a all fonts need to be embedded and all images need to be CMYK or spot colors..." This, or something like it, might be where the problem is coming from but without the relevant information it could be difficult to know for sure. -
Macro for Resizing
GarryP replied to Canon10d's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Have you tried searching the forums for resize macro and seeing if any of the instructions work for you? For example: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/59570-affinity-photo-how-can-i-batch-resize-to-a-max-width-variable-height/#comment-306679 -
Welcome to the forums @Jude Talal If you ask a question in the Questions section then someone can help you with it. And you can browse the Tutorials and Resources sections to get tips and other help with various things. Or you can just search/browse the site and see what you can find.

Posting links, videos, images and documents (etc.) is normally fine as long as the material is relevant to the thread and complies with the forum rules and guidelines. If a member of staff thinks that there’s a problem with what you have posted then they might remove it, and tell you why they have done so, but that’s quite rare.

Add Stroke Options For Text Frames
GarryP replied to bryanwithay's topic in Feedback for the Affinity V2 Suite of Products
As a quick-and-dirty ‘work-around’, or merely as a curiosity, if you have Publisher (only for the Frame Text Inset functionality) and Designer then you can use Constraints to get what is demonstrated in my attached video and document. The corners don’t look particularly nice, and the whole thing ‘breaks down’ under certain circumstances, but someone might find some use for it, maybe on a ‘quirky poster’ or something like that. P.S. If you relocate the coloured rectangles you can get something like that in the image at the bottom of the post, which might be of use to someone. 2024-04-13 09-44-15.mp4 constraint-frame-text-border.afpub -
There’s no need to ‘faff around’ with brushes and/or macros to get a simple re-usable watermark. You can create one quickly with a Rectangle, some Artistic Text, Photo’s Pattern Layer functionality and Assets. See attached video for a quick run-through. Note: I feel sure that this isn’t the first time this technique has been posted but no-one else in this thread has posted any links to the tutorials they mentioned/used, or given a run-down of what they did, which makes it difficult for anyone reading this thread to know what the possibilities are. 2024-04-13 08-39-56.mp4
