Yes, all of them will be named untitled since you're not actually duplicating a document but creating a new one from from existing clipboard data.
That's why i said  a dedicated duplicate command would be useful here. It should attach copy or similar to the name of the file or let you rename it.

Then it's called 'Untitled' * and I can't edit the name in the tab (or can I?). For me, 'copy of filename' or 'filename copy' would be better.

Currently, the quickest way to do this, as far as i know, is to select all layers (press ⌥⌘A ), then  copy (press ⌘C ) then File ▸ New From Clipboard (press ⌥⇧⌘N ).
I agree it's a little cumbersome. A Duplicate menu command and a shortcut would help here :)

Hi, I had a try.
 
I used a highpass filter. Radius 36. Blendmode colour burn
Then I used a black and white adjustment filter. Used the red and yellow slider all the way to the left; -200.
 
I suggest you make a white layer underneath and use the eraser to tidy up (more than I did).
 
EDIT: The white layer needs to be the same colour as the background of the document. Use the eydropper tool.
OR/AND experiment with a blendmode.

Yes, Manu, you’re right … I read that … nevertheless, the preference setting could have been disabled inadvertently … smile …  ;)

Just to rule out the obvious … is the rotation gesture activated in the system preferences of OS X?  :unsure:

I said "Not sure what you're asking, sorry. Can you provide more info?" because your screenshot didn't look any different to what I normally see when using the app I.E when a tool is selected I see the "active" grey background around the icon without any issues.

If the photos don't have overlapping areas/data there's nothing the app can do to stitch them...

Our developers are already aware that some users would like an option for a Lighter/Brighter UI and MEB has added it to the list of Common Feature Requests here. TonyB has mentioned in the past that we've not ruled out adding another UI mode but their priorities are to work through the list of promised features. 
 
The Affinity developers have made many changes and improvements to our apps as a result of user feedback and I see no reason why they won't look into this further when they have the time to do so.

Cannot answer your question directly but if you already have Nik Silver Efex pro you can use it as a plug-in on Affinity Photo. There is a very good video on YouTube showing you how to instal the Nik Collection into Affinity. Its by Chris Williams and you can find it under affinity Photo tutorials on YouTube. Not all of the Nik Collection works but Silver Efex is one that does.

Problem resolved with close and relaunch.

Whenever I try to open up multiple photos at once from a file, say photos 1through X, they seem to be listed in near random order at the top, or if anything in inverted order. Often the photo on the screen isn't even listed at the top, one needs to click the arrow on the right to have it listed!
 
Look at the photo below: Photos 1-10 were opened. They were in numerical order in the file opened. On the Affinity screen, they are listed at the top in the order 7,10,3,4,5,2,8,6,9 !! The active photo, 1, isn't listed at all and one needs to click the double arrow at the right top to have it shown!
 
It shouldn't be too much to ask that photos are listed left to right in order, and the active photo is always visible on the top.

It may be a great feature for some, but it's annoying me now. It should have a check box for on or off, having a shortcut doesn't make it any less frustrating. I'm using a track pad and as I move around it keeps accidentally rotating, we shouldn't have to keep resetting the canvas. Having the ability to rotate isn't an issue, its not being able to turn it off when you don't need it.  :angry:  :D
