Thank you, Manuela. this does make sense.
I agree, the capability to recolour white and black too would be a useful plus.

    > color replacement worked nicely on teeth, brush and skin, but not on the white jacket or the darkest details.

Because white and black don't have a hue/color. Being able to change the color of white/grey/black would be a great addition for me, too.

Once something is on the roadmap (https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/10075-affinity-photo-feature-roadmap) or on the common feature requests list I know I don't have to ask for it in the forum because it's already planned or has been acknowledged as a feature request.

    Thank you, A_B_C :-)

I was astonished that he neither looked scared nor angry, but quite relaxed from that perspective.

He has a great place in Aros: the ceiling is high enough so he'd have enough space to get up.

On the colums I selected the white and filled it with the red colour sampled with the eyedropper.
I set the blend mode to linear light. That changed the colour, so I used the recolour adjustment layer and altered the colour.
It didn't match exactly, so I used a brightness and contrast adjustment layer, and changed the brightness until it matched.
The adjustments layers are clipped to the selection.

I used a texture brush to paint in some more highlights (with a lighter shade of the red)

On the fence I used the inpaining brush, and then I used the clonong stamp set the hardness to zero, and sampled in different areas. used quite a big brush and painted in big circles.  I didn't finish it. ;)

I had a go on the  first picture. (Very quick and sloppy)
On the lightsource I used the cloning stamp.

On  the dark lines I use the paintbrush and sampled colour close to the lines.

I selected  the yellow parts refined the selection, used a gradient with two shades of gey. And cloned the edges. (here I stopped, it's to much work just to give an example. ;)

well i see that this is a rather outdated post, but anyway...

to edit out some unwanted detail from an image, you could try the clone tool where the inpainting brush fails.

about the columns... i'd try duplicating the layer, recolouring the duplicate (recolour adjustment, or maybe the hue slider of the hsl adjustment) and then applying a mask that hides everything else.
even changing the blending mode of the new layer could help.

This is my first Post in the Forum and english is not my native Language, so don't be to hard if i fail with the Tool Names ;)

I made a Screenshot and spent some time to give it a try - and i hope it is ok for you?! The outside Area was mostly cleaned with the Inpainting Brush. I am trying to restore the People with the Clone Stamp Tool and a little bit of the Smudge Tool. There may be more professional ways to fix this, but i think it will do it pretty well. At first i tried to mask out the Light Reflexes(?) that is on top of the picture and correct it with Brightness and Contrast, but i failed hard ;)

I'm also a completely Newbie in Affinity Photo and Retouching so i took me about 3 hours to get only there, but i won't give up. It's a good Exercise.

it may be worth mentioning that white balance also has an effect in B/W images
    - some might think it does not matter and it´s actually a really nice option as well :)

Thanks overall for the really nice videos :)

PS: I don´t feel to comfortable with the destructive D&B tool...I´ve posted some thoughts here ....maybe I´ll just do some things destructively :)

Maybe I'm just being dense here.

In the panorama video https://player.vimeo.com/video/147727411, at 01:11, after 'stitch panorama' there is an inpainting brush icon above the image.

The video doesn't demonstrate how to use it and I can't get it to work.

    hello manuschwenderer.ch,

click on the brush button and then click the apply button to get the final render of the panorama.
the inpainting algorithm will fill any empty area around the image.
the process takes lots of time, cpu and memory.
the result is reasonably good, mainly for areas that do not show complex details (i.e: sky, or meadows in the background).

I did a screen grab of the boys' faces and did a quick and dirty "fix" on that.  I mostly used the InPainting Tool set to a size only slightly larger than the individual segment of a blemish.  For a few areas, I used the Clone Tool with a low opacity and a Hardness of zero.  In addition I used the Burn tool set on Mid-Tones and 5% opacity to add a little definition to the boys' eyes.

Like I said, it's slow and tedious but it can be done with patience.  Or perhaps someone with a has a quicker easier method will chime in.

I think the programme is excellent.
Some things are a little different (ie. managing the layers) and for instance the inpainting brush is fantastic.
If you managed to learn Elements, you will manage Affinity too.

I was on the brink to "buy" Photoshop when I stumbled over Affinity. I bought both programmes and I'm quite busy trying to understand Designer.
Vector work is new to me. ;) But learning new things is good for preventing dementia I'm told. ;)

    Hi T_Y

    Welcome to the Forums :)

We have a lot more than six video tutorials available on our website here :) We are making a manual for the app but at the moment it isn't ready. However in the meantime you could use the in-app help. This can be accessed by going to Help > Affinity Designer Help Inside here you will find in-depth help explaining each tool.
