  1. Hello CruizngSailor Is selecting the inpainting tool (and trying to get it to work) your first step after opening the jpg?
  2. Hi Austin, thank you for asking. As far as I remember I got the export to work, but the printed result was not what I had wanted.
  3. I seem to have misunderstood what 'sticky settings coming in 1.5' meant. My workflow: 1) I open a photo 2) I crop it to a custom preset [Mode -> scrolling down to one of my presets] 3) I switch from 'Overlay: Thirds grid' to 'Overlay: none' 4) I crop and export the photo What I expected to happen with 1.5 / sticky settings: 1) I open a photo 2) Mode is on the preset that I last used 3) Overlay is on 'none', because that's what I last used 4) I crop and export the photo What happens: I still have to change Mode: and Overlay: for every single photo I work on.
  4. > It is not a bug. It is very handy way to add more canvas to document. Then it should be called 'Add canvas'. --- - I open a photo that has landscape proportions (width > height) - I want to crop part of that photo - not add anything to it - I have to move the crop lines to be within the photo (see screenshot) This is a bug because it works as expected for photos with portrait proportions (height > width).
  5. > Why does the crop rectangle move outside of the image? If I have decided to crop an image, ... why would I want to move outside the confines of my picture? This is a bug. I've been waiting for it to get fixed since before the official launch of Affinity Photo https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/12394-what-happened-to-topic8799-crop-tool-inconsistency. It's keeping me from promoting AP to my colleagues.
  6. For me it works when I open a photo, activate the red eye removal tool and just click on some red in my photo. You have to wait some seconds until the change from red to grey happens.
  7. > Did Betas before this series (1.5) overwrite the Tools panel customizations? Some of them did, yes. There's a warning when they do.
  8. > click on the small arrow in the Healing Brush Tool button = the band-aid icon, two below the one that is active now @MEB: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/21146-ap-make-the-inpainting-brush-the-default-of-that-group
  9. The perspective tool is working much better now for how I use it in combination with cropping, thank you :-) (Grid used to stay original size, no matter how small my cropped part of the picture was.) Edit - unfortunately this improvement has disappered again in 1.5. Beta 3
  10. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/15749-life-after-14/?p=71757 "Sticky settings and tool presets will certainly happen for the next MAS release - it's top of my list! Andy" Not sure if 'lots of small improvements' will cover that, though.. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/21056-whats-coming-in-affinity-photo-15/?p=98943
  11. Hello Jon Any chance you could fix this https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/12394-what-happened-to-topic8799-crop-tool-inconsistency? Would save me a lot of time..
  12. Thank you, paolo > exporting via File > Export background stays transparent in .psd, .png, .gif, .tiff, .svg now - that must be enough :-)
  13. Those are good solutions - but my focus is on the first time users. They must have seen / heard about the inpainting brush (or they wouldn't ask about it), but then can't find it when they open AP.
  14. Hi New users (or demo users) of AP ask again and again where they can find the inpainting brush - and that's only the ones bothering to create a forum account for that question. I think it would help a lot if it was the default tool of the healing group.
  15. Hi Beginner question (searching the forum didn't help): In AP, Filters - Colours - Erase White Paper is super easy - but after exporting as jpeg the background is white again, not transparent. Which step am I missing?
  16. > it is adjustment layer as far as I can tell [...] but buggered if I can find your pixelate stuff or how to change settings as you mention. If you look at my screenshot in post #4 again: you have to chose Background (Pixel) instead of Levels Adjustment.
  17. Hi Trial&Error, good to see that you got it to work :-) It is not a bug. But I agree with you that it would be nice if there was some sort of warning when you're trying to use the inpainting brush on a layer where it has no effect https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/17922-warning-when-inpainting-tool-is-used-on-wrong-layer
  18. > high speed shutter, to combine using stacking ... to remove visual obstructions I might misunderstand you, but isn't that what 'Stacking - Object removal' is for?
  19. It would help if when starting a new thread I'd have to click 'AP / AD / both' - this would allow filtering the threads and the search results. Same for 'Mac / Windows / both' later.
  20. Hi Callum Thank you for replying so fast. Yes, at export - and I just saw that 'estimated file size' is what I am looking for. Good thing I posted in questions and not in feature requests.. *solved*
