  1. Mac OS Monterey 12.0.1 on 13inch MacBook Pro. The lag already happened before the latest update in Affinity Photo, but only for about ca. a week (not using it daily).
  2. Hi Not only is this not getting fixed since January 2019, but now there's also a lag when I open the cog wheel. I have the feeling the thread is too hidden in the beta archive: Kind regards Manuela
  3. 1.10.4: not only not fixed, but now there is a lag of several seconds when I open the presets to do 1:1 ratio = square cropping. This feels really clumsy for such a simple task.
  4. > Of course, with an uncalibrated screen what you'll end receiving from the printers will be a mystery until you open the box Not a question, just to add: I'm on a MacBook Pro 13-inch with retina display (early 2015), Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB While there is a calibration menu (System preferences - Displays - Colour - Calibrate), all I can change is the Target White Point. Edit: found out how to get to a few more options: https://photo.stackexchange.com/questions/101176/how-can-i-best-calibrate-my-macbook-pro-display-using-built-in-free-or-inexpens
  5. Photo. And yes, I'll try that, thank you. (What I meant was: do I _also_ use the Softproof? And under Document, do I use 'Assign ICC Profile' or ''Convert Format / ICC Profile' or both?)
  6. > one hand tied behind your back Thank you BofG for your honesty. I'll look into calibration again, then.. > ther's no 'Colour' tab Thank you, Walt. Yes, the Colour tab is to the right of the photo (the other tabs next to it are Histogram, Swatches and Brushes). My problem is that I don't know where I need to apply the ICC profile.
  7. Hi I've been using moo.co.uk for making postcards from my photos for many years. They allow me to have as many different photos on the front as I have cards in a pack. I haven't seen any other company offer that, or I would probably just switch now. They recently removed the option "picture enhancement", which worked really well for my photos. The first batch of cards that arrived now has less contrast and less shadow correction than the earlier versions. I have not reached out to their support yet, but will of course. https://support.moo.com/hc/en-us/articles/360035605391-Dull-or-dark-print "We recommend previewing and editing your files in CMYK with the assigned colour profile Coated GRACoL 2006 in an outside design editing software. From here, you may choose to adjust your brightness (for photos), or CMYK colour values (for vector/text-based designs)." I googled and I found a lot of documentation https://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/color-space-conversion.htm https://affinity.help/photo/en-US.lproj/index.html?page=pages/Clr/ClrProfiles.html?title=Color management https://affinityspotlight.com/article/designing-for-professional-printing/ but I'm still completely lost. I like how my MacBook screen looks, I don't want to calibrate it to look any different. I also don't really know how to use layers in AP yet. I do the adjustments I usually do directly on the background layer. Things I've tried so far with the Coated GRACoL 2006 icc profile: I'm in Affinity Photo, in the Photo Persona, and have one of my photos open I make a screenshot as the "before" picture In the 'Colour' tab, I change RGB to CMYK In the 'Adjustment' tab, I open 'Softproof' I choose 'Coated GRACoL 2006', which is there because I imported it to the correct folder on the Mac before There is a minuscule change in color. No change in contrast or shadows (which is where the problem with my latest moo cards is) When I use 'Document' – 'Assign ICC Profile' or ''Convert Format / ICC Profile', there is zero difference between the 'Softproof' layer being checked or unchecked. And there is no difference to the original photo. What I expected to happen When choosing the profile in 'Softproof' I would have expected the photo to switch to a much duller version on screen, which I then would try to make better in Affinity Photo and export in the corrected version. Which would look over the top in RGB (= on screen), but would work for print. Maybe somebody who's reading this has been in a similar situation and can list the steps needed to get from my photos to the CMYK version for moo's printer? Or maybe somebody can point me to a tutorial that's already covering that. Thank you Manu
  8. Hi @MEB Indeed! Thank you – here's hoping it stays dead this time.
  9. Oooh, I see a promising development in Beta! 1. I crop 2. I click the crop icon again - this lets me move the crop area around the original photo, but keeps the lines of my first crop discreetly visible 3. When I press enter the second crop gets applied and the discreet lines of the first crop disappear 4. Cmd&z goes back crop by crop = I jump from 3. back to 1. For this to be perfect, cmd&z would behave like this: – I'm at step 3 = I have done my second crop – cmd&z only undoes my last action , which was pressing enter. Result: - my last crop is undone - I see the thin lines of my first crop again - I see the original photo to move around in - I see the highlighted crop area of my second crop, which I can drag around again to get a better version of the crop = cmd&z brings me back from 3. to 2., not from 3. to 1. This would also solve my original wish: – After I made the first crop, cmd&z should not show me the original, untouched photo again: it should only undo the last step, which was the cropping. I'd like to see the original photo with my first selection of the crop area highlighted. = undo the cropping, but not the selection of the crop area. Thank you for working on this.
  10. This should not be in the thread archive, as it is not fixed yet. Do I need to start a new thread in https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/19-photo-beta-on-mac/ that links here?

  12. *bump* This is a regression, introduced with 1.7. It's not a big bug but it's an extra click which stops my flow. --- Not fixed in 1.8.0.163 Maybe edit the title, adding the afp number instead of (.107)? Can't do that myself apparently.
  13. Thank you, MEB (Beta 1.8. not public yet, as far as I see, so I can't go test myself.)
  14. "I choose the crop ratio via the cogwheel icon. After I pick one, I have to close the the pulldown menu with an additional click on the cogwheel or outside the pulldown menu. Please close the pulldown menu automatically after I chose one of the crop ratios." *bump*
  15. "Sorry this regressed with 1.7 - we'll get it fixed this week." Glad to hear ;P
  16. Hi @steps Some of the settings are sticky by now, for example some for cropping. It might be best if you start a new thread * and state _in the title_ of the thread which sticky setting(s) you are missing. * I don't think there's an active Beta at the moment, so maybe rather in the feature request forum.
