How do I rename the snapshots in my project (affinity designer for Windows 10)?

abject39 got a reaction from affinityfan in Locking gradiant
One thing I love about Affinity Designer is that the 3D effect and the Bevel/Emboss effect do not rotate when the shape itself is rotated. Regardless of the orientation of the object, they follow the orientation they are set to. The gradient effects, on the other hand, do not exhibit the same behavior. Is there a way to lock them so that they do not rotate? Or, is there a way to lock the regular object fill gradient so that it doesn't rotate with a shape? I know a work around is to place an object with a gradient inside of the object and lock the children but this is not effective with my use case where I need to make multiple copies of the same object and rotate it while keeping the gradient consistent. If I don't use a gradient, I can convert an object into a Symbol and duplicate it and place it in multiple areas in my project with different rotations. Without being able to lock the gradient or having to adjust each one individually it becomes very tedious.

Will Affinity Designer get the macro creating functions that are available in Affinity Photo?

In the meantime you can still flip all the objects separately by adding a guide – to snap to – and then using CTRL while resizing the layers by dragging a top/bottom handle, see attached video. Not ideal, but it works.

Super annoying that every time I press the reset selection box button, type a value into the transform panel and hit enter the box resets back to what it was. Then I have to hit the reset selection box again and type the next value I want into the transform panel and so on and so on. Super slow and counter productive.

Figured it out. Each object needs to be on whole pixels i.e. whole numbers on the transform panel XY table.

abject39 got a reaction from love-sietspl in Tab through layer names
Sometimes I need to rename several layers. When editing a layer name and pressing tab (in windows) Affinity does not switch through the name field in other layers the way the Tab button normally works throughout Windows, Is there anyway to edit a name and press a shortcut to go to the next layer and name it?

I know to some this may seem to be going too deep, but one feature that would be tremendously helpful in Affinity Designer for UI work is the ability to rename multiple layers or find and replace in a selection of multiple layers. When creating a lot of different similar layers, it's great to make a selection and be able to add or change a folder prefix, for instance. Adding the ability to create a shortcut for renaming a current layer also helps make things just a bit faster in heavy workflows. I use these in plugin form elsewhere and it saves tons of time.

If by fold/unfold you mean to collapse/expand parent layers to hide/show their sublayer children, select one or more of them in the Layers panel, then right click & select "Collapse Selection" or "Expand Selection" from the popup menu.
