Do not turn off syncing and turn your donut into a pie shape.
Use other shapes to mask it to turn it into the shape you want
Then you can still change the hole size adjustment etc on the original donut shape which will also change your other symbols
You may need to provide a graphical example of what you are trying to do, if the above is not how I have correctly interpreted your problem
This is probably the closest work around. Better but not optimum. I'll post what I'm doing a little later today.

If they each have different angle values, how could you edit them all at once & avoid one set of angle values being applied to all the others?
I don't plan on adjusting the angles again. I just find it weird that all shape parameters stop syncing instead of the parameter that's actually different.

What limitation do you mean?
There's no way to sync the other shape attributes after you've unsync and edit any shape attributes. Basically I need to create several donuts that each have different arcs but I also need to be able to edit them all at once and there's no way to do that. There's not even a way to select them all and edit their shape because as soon as you select a two or more shapes you lose the option to edit their shape attributes. This is clearly yet another limitation. I'm an independent software developer. I'm going to continue up use designer for this project but there's just seems to be no way at all to continue to use this for serious GUI work. And that really sucks because it has strengths but the weaknesses are very crippling.

How do I rename the snapshots in my project (affinity designer for Windows 10)?
-
So basically another affinity designer limitation? Ugh. This is killing me. Every week there's something new. Is there no real illustrator competition?
-
If I create a symbol out of a donut and turn off the syncing to adjust the degree of the ring to open it up to a pie shape, then turn the syncing back on, any hole size adjustments I do won't sync anymore. Please tell me this is just a bug and not another limitation? Referring you Affinity Designer on Windows.

I've been trying super hard not to get rid of Affinity products but it seems there's just no way to avoid Adobe if you want to get things done without hassle.

So is there a way to make this thing paste the actual values copied or is it forever going to scale the values I copy into it?
-
Well, I don't know what else to show you besides video evidence of the issue and that I clearly did not select "scale with object". My system specs are Affinity Designer 1.6.5.123, Windows 10, Surface Book, i7 6600U CPU, Custom NVIDIA 940, 16GB RAM. Pretty much running stock, no torrents or pirated software at all that would interfere with Affinity Designer.
-
In the video I am using Designer.
-
In the video the values have clearly changed to scale to fit the second object instead of pasting the values that were originally copied.
-
I just recorded this using Designer version 1.6.5.123.
-
Maybe it is a Windows exclusive problem then.
-
So is there no way to fix this issue? I really enjoy Designer but these limitations are starting to pile up.

So does using Edit > Paste FX not paste all of the copied FX to another object -- including the "Scale with Object" property -- for some of you?
It does for me, thus I do not understand the earlier comment that Scale with Object should have no affect on the paste. How can it not?
The problem is that if you paste fx from one object to a different size object, the value of the fx scales to fit that object instead of actually pasting the same values.

Would someone please tell me how to copy just the fx from an object?
Just regular copy and go to edit>paste effect.

Pasting fx appears to work correctly in Affinity Designer but not in Affinity Photo.
Affinity Designer.
Adding a 10px Outline fx to a 100px Circle in Affinity Designer, then copying and pasting that fx to a 200px circle, pastes the correct size i.e. 10pxAffinity Photo.
Adding a 10px Outline fx to a 100px Circle in Affinity Photo, then copying and pasting that fx to a 200px circle, pastes the incorrect size i.e. 20px so it's scaling it.Scale with Object should have no affect on copy paste, as this relates to the resizing of the object with an fx applied and the fx follows suit.
I'm using Designer and it's doing what you are saying is only in Photo. I have the most current version on Windows 10. Is this some sort of bug because this scaled version is literally not a copy and is mostly just annoying?

How do I copy and paste without scaling? If I create a large circle, then create an inner shadow fx on it, then paste it to a smaller circle, the values of the fx is not the same. For some reason the fx value has scaled down even though the "scale with object" option is not selected. How do I copy and paste fx without this scaling?

I've started using this program as a work around. https://www.den4b.com/products/renamer

I too would love to see a gesture/pen mode as well!
