per the instructions in the help document: In the Photo Persona or Tone Mapping Persona, do one of the following: For an .afmacro file, open the Macro panel (View>Studio>Macro). On the panel, click Import. this no longer works you cannot import afmacro files any more. I have a number of macros that I would like to import but cannot. When you click the hamburger menu in the macro tool only close box and close panel appears . Import no longer appears.

Please include an improvement to the macro capability. It is very hard to use . you still cannot move a macro category up or down except one at a time. Takes too much time Thanks

I notice that some macros created no longer work in version 2.04.. Is anyone else experiencing this? thanks

is it possible to hide the adjustment layer icons in V2? I find it jut clutters my workspace and I would rather not display them. Thanks

hmm I have not experienced that even with zooming way in... but I leave the radius no large than 10 and the tolerance low between 9-10 usually. By the way I found that in the new frequency separation filter ( wish it were a live filter) you have to turn the tolerance up more..... would need to look at the algorithm to see why that is

this is a good takeoff on the frequency separation filter in Affinity. the gaussian blur (when inverted) works but you might try the bilateral blur filter. It seems to work better and it preserves edges. This is also now a part of the frequency separation filter but you can create your own macro as I have done years ago. I actually use both now...

thanks. Is frequency separation in affinity an embedded macro? IF so it should be doable to code it so that you can select bilateral or median blur. I guess for the time i will use the custom sharpen by bilateral blur filter that I put in the forum. IT works pretty well without halos. I was able to build macros involving frequency speration before, but it is not a live filter in Affinity. Any chance you can make it alive filter??

add color w linear light this macro allows the user to lighten/darken the color of selected parts of the picture with a paint brush. To select the area and color on the mac, place the paint brush over the area and color that you want to accentuate. Press option on a mac while holding the mouse over the area. This selects the color (which can now be seen on the color tab in affinity photo. Then brush over areas that you wish to accentuate. The blend mode is set to linear light which is a combination of color dodge and color burn. So, it will lighten colors lighter than 50% gray and darken colors darker than 50 % gray. The global opacity is set to 10% but the user can change that. add color w linear light use paint brsh deepen colors wtih linear light.afmacro

did you check the color gamut you are using? each of lightroom, capture 1, On1 (etc) use their own version of a color gamut and i can tell you that the colors from lightroom when compared to Capture 1 are noticeably different. you should expect a difference. When in RGB mode the colors and lightness are changed together. so you should expect lightness and color to be affected when switching from one tool to another. IF you use LAB gamut color and lightness are separate. A simple method I use when switching from tool to tool is to use the largest color gamut available when in RGB , try Prophoto that may eliminate some changes between tools..

the only thing that shows up when you try to build a macro using the new bilateral and median filters within freq separation, is the gaussian blur radius as adjustable elements. I was able to build macros with the older version of Freq separation. What you see is that the radius can be adjusted , not the tolerance you have no choice even though you select it as an adjustable parameter... the tolerance adjustment is required for the macro to work. . I believe that it defaults to the gaussian blur filter so that you cannot really apply the bilateral filter. Can you confirm? if that is the case it makes the bilateral method which i have been using for years to sharpen not really useable if you cannot create macros with it... thanks

I noticed that the procedural texture filters that worked before no longer seem to work. The symptoms are that the sliders for the variables no longer show up on my procedural texture filters I created earlier so I cannot use them any more. I have a mac and am wondering if anyone else is encountering this issue.

the only thing i really miss from photoshop is the layer fill slider which makes the 8 special blend modes work correctly. this is not available in affinity photo unfortunately. I have been trying to get this for over tow years... no joy yet.

I solved the problem by h]just buying the version from serif directly. After installing all my macros, assets, swatches, etc it works fine...One other benefit is that I can now get my product key which I could not from the apple store version..

Serif has acknowledged to me via the support site that the layer fill does not exist. I feel that is absolutely needed here is my explanation that I gave them: Special blend modes: in short opacity affects all aspects of a layer: styles, brightness , contrast, color etc etc. Layer Fill does NOT affect layer styles AT ALL. This is an important distinction. There are 8 blend modes that behave differently when layer Fill is adjusted, compared to when standard Opacity is adjusted. The blend modes that aren’t members of this Special 8 group react the same to both Fill and Opacity changes, In Affinity Photo they they react only to opacity as there is no layer fill capability so they are basically useless and it would be interesting why they were even included. With these Special 8 blend modes, 40% Opacity will look different than 40% Fill, or 30% Opacity will look different than 3 0% Fill, etc. For all of the other blend modes (the modes that aren’t part of the Special 8), 40% Opacity looks the same as 40% Fill, or 20% Opacity looks the same as 20% Fill, etc. This is an important concept to understand, because it can extend the capabilities of these blend modes. For example, the Hard Mix blend mode usually doesn’t look all that great, but when you adjust the Fill for this mode, you can get some great results. It does not work as a layer fill slider should. Affinity is lacking an actual "fill" slider. It becomes painfully apparent if you try to use one of the 8 special blend modes. Then you can see a great difference between a “fill" slider and "opacity" slider. in photoshop Serif need to rename their "fill opacity" slider to a plain opacity slider because that is all it is -- an opacity slider. It is really important to a number of folks on the forum including myself who have been asking for this for years. Affinity Photo really needs this capability or many folks wont be able to drop Photoshop like myself for instance simply because this is missing. The blend modes that are members of this Special 8 group are Color Burn, Linear Burn, Color Dodge, Linear Dodge (Add), Vivid Light, Linear Light, Hard Mix, and Difference.

layer fill is the only reason I still have to hang on to photoshop. If I use these blend modes I go to photoshop and then of course I don't go back to Affinity Photo. The lack of this basic capability is causing me great pains. I like Affinity Photo a lot but may have to go back to photoshop if this basic capability is not added soon. A number of folks including myself have been asking for this for years without result.

MEB: when can we see the layer fill capability in Affinity Photo???? IT is becoming burdensome after asking for this for many years now. I have to hang on to photoshop simply because of this lacking capability in Affinity Photo.

I solved this issue. The download from the app store might not work. I tried download from app store again after deleting the original download and had the same result, masking would not work. I then just bought another copy from Serif directly and after spending half a day reloading assets, macros, styles, swatches etc it now works and the release is very good. It is unfortunate that this occurred but I had a friend here in my neighborhood that had the same issue. It is unfortunate that you cannot get your purchase key if you buy on the apple app store.

i got a bad download via the apple app store where I originally bought Affinity photo years ago. Masking does not work at all . I noticed this when I tried to run several of the macros I created and when i applied an adjustment to a pixel layer and tried to mask it then paint in or out the adjustment with a paint brush. I don't know if there are other issues. I know of others who had the same masking problem after download. Is this confined to the apple store versions? I downloaded a trial version from the affinity site and it worked fine no issues with masking. How do I recover without losing my macros, assets brushes styles etc etc? The apple app store won't let me re download the application, just open it. When I go to manage my account I cannot recover my product key since I bought on the apple app store. This is very unfortunate.
