Make sure you are choosing spot colors from an actual spot color palette, like:

Then it will display using a stupid naming convention, like:

But, you can right-click on the swatch and choose:

And it will be renamed automatically to the Pantone name like:

Then, when you create the pdf, make sure you see the checkbox below is checked:

And then in Acrobat, Prinergy or whatever RIP software you use, you should see the spot color:

    Mike

Have you tried creating an empty text frame, then setting the value in the Paragraph panel, and then (with the frame still selected) using Edit > Defaults > Synchronize from Selection followed by Edit > Defaults > Save?

Wosven reacted to walt.farrell in Publisher Package Files and Font Management Inconsistencies
This is a follow-on question from the discussion that started in https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/157866-please-add-pdfx-32003-support-for-rgb-color-space-with-flattened-files and I'm using the sample file uploaded by the OP there in this post:
I unzipped that .zip file, then opened the inner ExampleDocument directory, then Opened the ExampleHandouts.afpackage file, and got this summary display:

Switching to the Fonts section, I see (2 screenshots, second one scrolled down):

As we can see, Publisher is offering to install 10 fonts, the 8 that are Missing and the 2 that are Restricted (which also show as "Missing").
Just as an experiment, I untick all the Install boxes. This should give me 10 missing fonts after I click OK.
First thing I do not understand: Why does the Summary say there are no Missing fonts, when the Font list shows there are 8 (or 10, counting the restricted ones). Even after I untick the Install boxes in the Font section, the Summary says 0 missing fonts.
By the way, there was no "toast" warning me of Missing Fonts and offering to open the Font Manager. But perhaps that's not considered necessary since I had the opportunity to look while that dialog was open? But it feels a bit odd.

Continuing the experiment, I open the Font Manager, and it agrees I have 10 missing fonts:

I then check the Preflight panel, and I find these 14 missing font errors listed:

Additional things I do not understand:
If there were only 10 missing fonts when opening the file, why does Preflight show 14 missing?
While opening the file, and in the Font Manager after opening, Helvetica Neue was listed as missing. No other Helvetica type fonts were listed as missing or in the document. Why, in Preflight, do I also have Helvetica, Helvetica-Bold, and Helvetica-Oblique listed as missing? Next, I look at missing fonts in two other ways. First, in the Character Panel:

10 missing fonts, all shown with ? before their names.
And in the Find & Replace panel, which agrees on the font names, but omits the ? before their names (though earlier one of them, Brix Slab, had the ? here, too):

I just managed to get one showing with a ? in that dialog. And it's one that didn't even show up before:

The investigation really started with wondering why in that Find dialog I can't look for italic, bold, etc. for missing fonts as @Wosven brought up in the original topic mentioned above. But I think it may just be that there's not enough information in the document, when the font is truly missing, to know those details.
But this is long enough, so I think I'll stop, at least for now

Or just use an application where one doesn't need to faff about. Time is money and all that.
The last large magazine I worked on had 100+ ads. Most from known applications, some from ones I never heard of. If the above was my workflow, I would have gone utterly insane.

I have just checked every layer. Nothing special.
All layers fit in the design so there are no big images outside the selection.I don't really know why this is going on.
Since I have found a workaround I will just leave it.
I don't have any problems with other files.

Because, for example, Designer set the "Title" metadata of the document based on the name of the document. I should be able do edit this metadata. If Designer don't let me edit this tag then it shouldn't set it.

The truly unfortunate thing here is that while Publisher (Fields panel) and Photo (Metadata panel) both provide different limited versions of this already, they have only partial overlap in terms of the fields that are accessible, and neither application currently supports custom fields.
I agree that this should be standardized, support for custom fields added, and the feature provided across the product line.

    Hello!
I think metadata nowadays is very important. So, for me it could be useful have a panel for metadadata to include keywords in a file.
This way you can have photos, images, logos, illustrations, layouts and so on with its metadata included. It looks that only Affinity Photo has this tool.
I hope that in the 1.11 versions of Designer, Photo and Publisher would be able to have some kind of standard panel to include metadata in the documents that this applications create and you can include the metadata in the other exported formats too.
    Thanks for reading.

It all depend of the type of file. It's suited to produce books with lot of text, and do a fine job of it (if compared to older PDF2HTML tools).
It won't be so bad as PDF with lot of images, but using a dedicated tool to create epub is always better, of course.
ID do a sad job converting to epub, if the original file wasn't produced with this intend, since we use tricks and special characters that can't be well converted to html.
And publishing houses will convert the ID file without finesse... (at least, a big editor does it this way, perhaps some will put more time on this and get a better result).

Doing epub is a job and need skills. Using converting tools should be the first step, if not using a dedicated one.

    1. You'll only be able to use the same fonts if you tell the app to use them, and preferably if you got the licences for this use...
    2. Pages are irrelevant in an epub, unless you do fixed layout instead of reflow, but in this case, PDF is better suited.
    3. Epub is suppose to reflow content depending of the setting of the device (use document's fonts or choosen ones, use document's size or set one, etc.), it's screen size, etc. It's like a web page or browser.
    4. Are those illustrations usable on a web page? If not, they'll be converted to other format, with possible errors if the app messed the 4 CMYK channels with the 3 RVB ones.

    Hi @Levtrona and welcome!
It'sthe antaliazing that create this fine lighter line. You can get rid of it adding a colorfull shape below, or simply moving the nodes of one side to overlap the other side.

when doing these creatures i create one side and then mirror them. When i try to align them, i alwas get this flaw, this stripe in the middle. I have tried different setting for aligning, but nothing seems to work quite right. Any ideas or will i need a workaround?

I can answer the why but not the how. If you look at it with a hex editor you'll see it's mainly metadata so I did a
    exiftool -all= 333wzór7.jpg
    and it's shrunk somewhat
Then I had a brainwave, exported a jpg from publisher without metadata and it's 1593 KB. It's a funny old world

I should also mention I only have Affinity Publisher without any of the other Affinity applications. It is always possible the installers for one of the other Affinity applications installs a critical library the Affinity Publisher installer failed to install. This is the sort of thing that can easily get overlooked in testing.

create a character style, apply it on this character, unselect the character, modify the character style colour.
