Wosven reacted to GarryP in Fusing a Shape and a Curve
In addition to the advice above, in this particular case, here’s a different method using Compound Shapes and Clipping – attached image and document.
The size of the Bar and Inner layers can be adjusted for width as necessary, something that can’t be done easily after expanding strokes and merging curves.
The Clip layer can be used to clip any other image which needs to be in the sign – in this case it’s “No Witches”.

Wosven got a reaction from sfriedberg in Make master pages move with text
But I don't want to merge the parts! It's possible they use same text styles with particularity like different colors for the headers or on master page (think of an directory with "tabs", that are only color going on the bleed and showing on the edges).
The concatenation should only be done when exporting to PDF, for type type of work/way of working.
If we had a "book" feature, working with different documents, using a different Master page on the first page would solve this problem without needing conditionnal MPages. An improvement would be to be able to choose that added pages only are at the end of the preceding file, and/or in pairs, to avoid header that should stay on right pages to move (or other items that should stay on a left/right page... That's always the difficult part with this sort of document, avoiding a shift of all the following pages when needing to add pages.

You can enter more manually, instead of using the maximum of the dropdown list.

Thanks Alfred. I thought I'd better link to the Dream Styles thread to give the honour to that forum member's post. After all, it is provided by that member. However, a direct link is a good idea too.

In a case like this, it makes sense to use the AD and Corner Tool.

Yeah, I noticed that. However, I liked the effect.
They are part of the Dream Cinematics style set (Villain) option. You might be able to find it in the forum to try them out.
Gasoline Sans BTN is the font used.

Wosven got a reaction from Old Bruce in Can You Please Make the Studio Panel to Have Adjustable Width?
And you can have more than one column of them, and if a column's got too much icons, you'll have the usual arrow showing you can scroll to display the ones at the bottom (very useful on small screen).
Now, is Affinity apps, the Panel can behave strangelly out of a columns:
Reducing themselves too much
When collapsed and put together (it's difficult, the top panel should be expanded or it won't stick)
They don't stay "sticky" together, perhaps because they've got different minimum width default, and when clicking on a tab to open it, the stickiness will be lost 50% of the time (the Layers panel lost it stickiness below after opening the Color panel). In the second image, the 3 bottom panel were opened keeping their stickiness, but opening the top one bug...)
Another problem with those floating panels, is that when you want to move them, most of the time it won't grab the panels, or only for 1 second, and while dragging, it'll want to snap to something and you'll end up just moving a panel instead of all like in the 1st second...
So I'll say... Nice try, but it need more work to be usable.

Wosven reacted to Old Bruce in Affinity Publisher: Adding a word or 2 in a paragraph to the TOC?
Thanks for showing me something I didn't know. I don't think they are supposed to work like this though. And I agree that it will cause head aches further down the line, I am thinking about different sized indents and leading just off the top of my head.
Again, thanks for the tip.

Here is a piece of work I created in Affinity Publisher to honour my sister's commitment and work as a paramedic. I used Fotosketcher and Corel Paint It! to create the artwork in the background, which I then enhanced in Affinity Photo using the tone map facility. I am waiting for the finished canvas to come from Vistaprint. However, here is a representation of the finished artwork with frame.
Text editing was done in LibreOffice Writer.
I hope she enjoys the gift.

If you hold down the space bar while controlling the bezier handles, it will allow you to move the point to correct when you make a mistake.

I remember this, because I thought (and think) it would only cause troubles and the need of aspirine to debug a document when someone mess the styles and ask for help...
(and there was such a case in the forum few week ago.)

Now that I think about it, I used Alignment tools on Artboards too. Perhaps that’s what caused the weird alignment.

Wosven got a reaction from Pyanepsion in Affinity Publisher: specify a variable page number in the text
One day, perhaps we'll have the possibility to add variables with interesting options:
Variable name: [Page number]
Text before: [...]
Variable type: [page number|copyrights|...]
Text after: [...]
Character style: [selection]
We've got some in the other apps Export persona, but they're limited, I hope they'll improve them.

Wosven reacted to csaborio in Affinity Designer SVGs Imported into Figma do not show up
Hey there @Wosven @v_kyr @R C-R @PixelPest & @Dan C:
First off, I just want say how pleasantly overwhelmed I feel with the response from this forum. I was ready to be buried under a barrage of "get lost n00b" answers but you have proven me wrong. Thanks all for your patience, as you can tell, I am indeed an SVG noob but man I have learned a lot from this.
I have followed the invaluable advice presented here and the bloody logo now shows fine in Figma. What you wrote made sense in terms of the graphic effects, and the workarounds you provided worked like a charm.
Thanks again, I am most grateful :-)

You can use a duplicate with a gaussian blur to keep it vector.

Wosven reacted to Dazmondo77 in Change guide color?
Just having another tough time with guide manager - just trying to guess which guide i'm moving on the page - surely when you select a guide it should be highlighted both on the page and in guide manager at the moment it's just a load of trial and error faff
