Wosven reacted to DieterW in Divide image equally
As it seems to me that devs are only reading bug forums for the time being and feature requests are more or less ignored entirely I do not hope for a solution soon. Therefore I am afraid workarounds are all we have ...
The aforementioned method from ''' works, although the details took me a while. A short description to save others time:
(In my case I wanted to divide an image in a grid with 10 columns and 7 rows)
Open the image to cut Create a rectangle in the size of one cell of the grid in the upper, left corner (in my case with a width of 1/10 and height of 1/7 of the image size) Delete the image layer (it just served as an easy method to get a new document with the right size) With Duplicate and Transform it is quite easy to copy it many times so it covers the whole image as a grid (in my case 70 rectangles) Select all of them > Gradient tool > Type: Image > Choose the file of the image to cut Turn Snap on with options: Snap to spread and Include spread mid points Move the center of the Gradient tool handles to the center of the image, which should be easy with snapping Disable the "Maintain fill aspect ratio" option of the Gradient tool (strangely enough the image will be distorted when this is enabled; I assume this is due to the extreme scaling we will need to do) Move the horizontal handle of the Gradient tool to the right border of the image, while holding Shift (again will snap) Move the vertical handle to the top of the image in the same way Switch to Export persona and set your export options On the Layers tab select all rectangles and click "Create Slice" On the Slices tab click "Export Slices" (below the list of slices (took me a while to find it... 😉) -
Wosven reacted to R C-R in Only selected objects visible in project
@magnus-k It looks like the selected "Base Room to Copy" layer is a child of the "Floor 1:Walls" layer, which in turn is a child of the locked "Floor 1: Text" layer, which is hidden.
So I suggest making the "Floor 1: Text" layer visible & seeing if that solves your problem.

Wosven got a reaction from Andrej in Background color for artboards
You can either use the transparent/checkered background, or select the artboard and add a color. But this last one will be exported.

Souvent les projets évoluent. Cette gestion des couleurs me semble manquer de souplesse.

Projects often evolve. This colour management seems to me to lack flexibility.

Wosven got a reaction from uneMule in Modify a spot color or a global color.
You can only choose this option adding a Global color from the menu.
You can't convert usual global color to spot later.
So you'll have to use AD search option if you want all your object using this classic global color to use a new spot-global color.
The apps aren't user friendly with this need... and won't convert to spot as easily as other ones.

Wosven reacted to GarryP in Copying table into new document messes up table formatting
I would say that one thing which is worse is when the OP goes back and removes the text from their posts leaving us with a useless thread containing out-of-context replies.
Even if some personal/private/controversial/etc. information was originally given, that can usually be edited out in a way which at least preserves the ‘gist’ of the question.
What we have here now is essentially: “Thanks for your help, but I’m going to make sure that no-one else will be helped by it.”

Wosven reacted to Dazmondo77 in Bending Vectors accurately around a curve for a vinyl LP label
The attached screen grab video details how I managed to bend logos accurately for a current job by using text on a path and copy pasting the vector logos inline, the majority of the job was done in Affinity Publisher but VectorStyler came to the rescue to help complete the idea - things to note: I discovered that the easiest way to move an inline distorted logo around a path is to keep a text character, also text baseline shifts come in handy for precise placement. this method worked out far more precise than using Illustrators or VectorStylers Arc tool.
Hope someone finds it useful

Wosven reacted to garrettm30 in Punctuation shift when new PDF imported
It might be helpful perspective to think of importing PDFs for edit as kind of like a bonus feature. It usually works well (to a surprising degree, in my opinion), but normally one would expect minor differences in conversions such as this. That doesn't mean the report of an issue is unwarranted—far from it! There is always room for improvement. I just mean to suggest that you shouldn't expect the result of an import-export conversion to be as dependable as opening the native format. Publisher in the end is is not really about being a PDF editor.

Wosven reacted to NotMyFault in color format conversions RGB->CMYK freezes Designer "not responding" for 20 seconds
Hi,
when converting the file provided by another user user:
https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/140542-png-export-blurry/&do=findComment&comment=776973
from RGB to CMYK, Affinity Designer takes about 20 seconds. I see two issues:
Less important: Quite a long time
This has been rated (indirectly) as "by design" in an 5 year old post, and i can live with that.
https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/20298-is-changing-the-colorspace-from-rub-to-cmyk-supposed-to-take-a-looooooooong-time/&do=findComment&comment=94578 More important:
Designer closes the UI dialog immediately, and gives absolutely no indication that it's still busy working.
After several seconds, you get the "Affinity Designer (not responding) OS message.
This is no good way to interact with users. A kind of progress indicator should be presented informing the user to wait.
Based on complexity of the document (size, embedded objects, count of layers, benchmark result) it should be possible to give at least a rough estimate if it will need more than 1-3 seconds. Letting the App getting into freezing state should be avoided. Slower PCs could be blocked for hours. UI should be able continue to work (at least a modal box showing the progress, not the edit tools of course), and offer an option to abort the operation.

And the curves are correct when converted to curves, or there's extra nodes? Perhaps it's a bug if the curves are perfect but not the effect.

Wosven got a reaction from DavideDozza in Fill with Primary and Secondary Color does not work correctly
And that's strange and can confuse, since the primary is supposed to be the first (visible, on top), and secondary is usually... behind. Using "foreground color" and "background color" would have been simpler that this... strange denomination.

Wosven got a reaction from William Overington in A poem in Language Y
In the list theme, this is a nursery rhyme (not the one I forgot, but the same idea), in Occitan.
For the lyrics: https://fr.wikibooks.org/wiki/Comptines/Jean_Petit_qui_danse or https://www.mamalisa.com/?t=fs&p=491 . The first link is easier to read, but the lyrics are in Gascon, that is slightly different from Occitan.
And, for the history part, since it's sometimes astounding to know where some song come from, especially this nursery rhyme: “Joan Petit was a peasant who, in 1643, in the south of the Massif Central, in Villefranche de Rouergue, led the peasant revolt against Louis XIV. When he was caught, he was condemned to the ordeal of the wheel. And the song says that when they broke his finger, he was dancing with his finger, etc.”
