  1. "Smart" master pages are described in this video: https://affinity.serif.com/fr/tutorials/publisher/desktop/video/390003719 To use them, you need to give a name to your text frames and pictures frames. If you use those same named frames in another master page, next time you apply this second master page to pages using the first one, the texts and images will automatically be positioned and resized accordingly. Perhaps it's not usefull with a single double page MP, but I tested it naming my frames, and it seems adding pages is less buged. One of the previous bugs with unamed frames was when a "body text" frame end up linked to a "number page" frame after reapplying the MP. We can link it properly, but we've lost the page number, and need to insert it manually. With named text frames, it didn't occur (but I did few tests… that's perhaps the reason! )
  2. Ok with a slider, I thought you'll have at least 3 or 9 images on a page, looking at the screenshot! Some transition from one image to another perhaps (if there's a "next" or similar way to convey the link between articles), but it would difficult to realize and ideas sound better sometimes than results…
  3. It seems you've added a stroke to the path. Check on the colour panel and set it back to null (white round with a red line).
  4. The nodes and the path are visible because they are selected. If you select something else or nothing, they'll disappear.
  5. I don't think so (this feature would be use for PDF missing text in this case). It depends of th efile, and the way it was exported. Some files can rescpect SVG specification, but big players have, in the past, implemented new features in different way (like InkScape and Adobe), especially about text. (We've got the same with browser and their specific code.) Perhaps the original text used some effects that needed rasterization, or the app was set to convert to curves to prevent problem with missing fonts. Affinity apps aren't the only one to do this. And it's logical to do this when using other fonts than the few core ones available on each system.
  6. Hi, Can you explain more about those features you want?
  7. I think there's too many items and it disrupt the reading of the page (there's a strong background also). Simpler is best, and if needed, before the images a sentence that explains clearly the meaning, or a different display. Vertically would induce more hierarchy than having them from left to right (but if there are more than 3, ouch!) > There could be more text before "More infos" too, to explain a bit.
  8. If you don't place "master" text frame on the master page, how the app know where should be positioned this text frame? That's when frames are floating that the app don't know what to do with them. It's important to place text frame on master page, since every modification you'll do on them will be done on the pages (for example, adding 1mm more height…) If you don't, you'll have to reflow the pages after modifying the 1st text frame of the first page… and you'll lost other items or modifications you could have put on those pages. I'm trying to name frame as in the Smart master page example, and for now I can add page without frames moving at the wrong place. Test_Gararit_08.afpub
  9. I'm wondering if, using the smart master pages feature (naming the frames in the master pages with same name), would help or confuse the app more… https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/tutorials/publisher/desktop/video/390003719/ I renamed the frames in the Master pages and reapplied it. It seemsto be more consistent, but once when it linked the main text frame to the page number frame instead of the main text frame of the right page. It shouldn't! That's a bug, but not sure how to reproduce it, since it was not clear whyit happens on this page only. I was able to add single pages here and ther, without problem but once when the other same (left | right) pages when blank because there's another bug: one of the text frame lostit z-order and end up atthe bottom of the page, below the image frame. The eaiest way to correct this with a document like yours, was to go to the Master pages, select the Picture frame of the (left | right) problematic page, move it to the front of the page, andput it back at the bottom of the page. I'm not sure renaming the elements on the master pages helped, but I could add pages without having the bug. We can also see now that master pages are applied by pages or by spread, and it's when applied by pagesthat it seems to occur. METAL_WORLD_diagnosis_sample2.afpub
  10. The most logical, since there's already the option to tag the threads, would be to add options with radio buttons (faster than menu) or a blank field if not all the options are listed, and it would result to add the proper tags. The ones who want to search depending of those options would have to filter (if possible) or search with the available criterions. > And new option(s) by "favorite tags" would be added to "content I follow".
  11. Hi, I'm not sure I understand the problem. Why not enlarging the canvas only on the needed side if you're in AP? And if you're in APub, you can go in the Photo persona, dupplicate, rasterize, inpaint part of the image you need in an image frame (you need to go to the Layers panel and select the image inside).
  12. I'm not fond of assets, unless to use them in Designer or being the only one needing them. If you need to give some work to someone else, you shouldn't forget to give assets if items are stocked there. And if you need to export them for this intent, they need to be updated each time you make a modification. I work in a team, and there's always something we forget to do. Not intentionaly, but it's difficult to avoid errors. If needed, I put extra items on a master page, and this way I can add helpfull advices/tips. If the text styles are modified, that won't be a problem. I'm not sure how it'll be using assets.
  13. I'm not sure it's the original shortcut, from memory the apps bug(ed ?) when you want to use ctrl in a shortcut, and it's more like me not checking ctrl+shift+X was registered. But doing strange shortcuts by error, and wondering what happened and when hours after is a problem!
  14. Only part of the bugs are OS specific, and there's already distinctive parts in the forum. If we need to spend 1 hour checking items before posting, checking we used the right words, etc. it'll feel like administrative paperwork, not my cup of tea. Long ago, a Linux distro lost its forum and replace it with some sort of blog where you needed keywords to find anything. It was the begining of the end too, for this community. Here, it can become a little messy, but that's the better way to learn and read posts we wouldn't have searched.
  15. Look at the preferences, in the last sections Miscellaneous to check its default value.
  16. The shortcut Shift+X can exchange fill and stroke. Perhaps you did it by mistake.
  17. You need 2 character styles, one for the drop cap (to keep the font, size and not small caps variant), and another character style for the small caps. Using paragraph and text styles help formatting and modifying everything in few clicks.
  18. You lack constructions lines to do the transformation. Here a way to do it: You've got the box outline, but transformation will follow the rules of perspective, with other lines that we need to create, assuming all the left, middle and right of the box are of the same height (but look smaller due to perspective). Using rectangles and dividing them will give points to construct new lines. Once done, I can draw the new lines: Now, I can add guides, it'll be easier using the tool later, and since I also need vertical lines (using guides for thoses, it's simpler). I'll add more guide since it's nice to have snapping to those points. And since it's difficult to read, I'll surround the ones I need (later, you won't be able to zoom and navigate the page easily). Playing with the text. We need two halves of the text for each side of the box. We need the same height and a way to mesure it. It's easy with the H and d. In the middle, I need to add a character for mesurement and landmark (I'll delete it later). I dupplicate and cut my layers to have 2 halves. I rasterize them before using the Perspective tool. Now, I can position the 4 angles at the exact points I defined earlier: be carefull, and check again your positions before validation, they can move while moving other points. Here, I use the violet I to position the middle part of the text. I do the same with the other half of the text, before deleting the violet I. Next step, I hide/delete the constructions lines. perspective.afphoto
  19. I at least took time to give you the links. There are a lot of threads about packaging, and spending time here or searching you would have find this. Following the forum can help you get interesting informations and learn new things too. That'll only when you'll have read the same questions asked over and over that you'll be succint to give pertinent informations without blabla. It can looks condescending or usefull.
  20. You can have few of them depending of the size of the text and the number of lines used, knowing the max is 3 lines, the bigger size the best too. You'll have big titles (headers) for mains articles, other for secondary titles, titles for news, for framed text, etc. And all of them can be different if you need them in different colours or fonts, different decorations for different headers (rubriques in French, = parts), special folder (?*), investigation, etc. of the newspaper. The more you get styles, the more difficult it is to find them if you don't work on the same document each day, but different ones. And Not being able to have real groups (folders) to organize styles in APub is a problem for this. * Difficult to translate technical terms… I need a primer for those .
  21. Haha, he did it. Iwanted to compare to all-in-one kitchen robots of the 90’ we never use since we spend more time reading the manual and doing the dishes than using simplers ones. And how Mozilla and other all in ones applications broke in "smaller" apps that get biger and biger today since each one need more code for different specific purposes. Some disappear too…
