Sometime we don't want to purchase a font when we're only "cleaning" a poor 2 PPI web logo send by clients, but it happens also they accept we buy fonts and pics! 😍

"of course", coming from French, where the main usage is a noun for the bed/flow of some water -- river, stream... we've got a lot of words depending of the size and flow of "rivers" -- ("un cours d'eau"). By extention -- the river always going from a point in land to the sea --, it's meaning a path for something moving, a define, definite (?) road > a logical way/end. "Le cours des choses" : the courses of things, aka fate, in some sort. In French we would use "biensûr", in Occitan "per segur" (obviously, certainly, without doubt).

Some characters are reserved for the OSes, and used with special meanings for this effect, or at special places (like files beggining by "." or "-"). If you want to be able to open later your files, and to send them by email or share them to other people I would suggest using simple characters from a or A to z or Z, and numbers and - or _ Those are common on and will be displayed correctly on every systems, language, etc. If you export images, you can add extra datas in the metadatas, like caption, author... or explanation in the message or page when sharing them. Loosing files or works for a bad name is always annoying. Not being able to delete those problematic files can happen too, today.

Yes, i messed with the idea of printing special Pantone colors, PDF/A is for me mainly for legal documents and others ones we need to keep a certain amount of time, but not for documents that need to be printed like books or magazines, since in this case, it's better to at least keep the PDF for print in our archives. For publications, we send a copy of each one to the Bibliothèque nationale de france, no PDF.

Which PDF/X are you talking about? In 30 years of printing, we used those standards without any problems when needing specials colors.

Pantone or specific brand spot colors informations are informations contained in extra channels, for files in CMYK usually (PSD, TIFF AI...). Since PDF manage all the needed info, profiles, etc.we usually use this type of file, after importing images using spot colors or using spot colors directly in the document. For example, you can add a specific area or layer (= channel with specific name), depending of the printer recommendations, so they'll know the areas to add varnish or special inks. If you want to print with Pantones, you can use Pantone swatch depending of the type of paper (coated, uncoated, etc.). There's also today specific Pantone colors, defined to be used on paper and on screen with better results visually, that the old ones taht were different on screen and printed. But if you want to use metallic or fluorescent colors, there's really, as said by Walter, no reason to use them in files for a screen display. It's better to use effect to simulate visually the result like (gradients for metallic colors), and produce a PDF for print with all the needed informations (color profile, bleed, etc.). Those are distinctive intents that need different files, and it's better since there's no need to put online PDF for print, those are larger and contains items that don't help readers and can be confusing if they're not used to such files.

Text can be corrected in the layout app, and/or in the words processor app. We use a script to correct aa lot of common errors in ID, but also macros in Words to do similar corrections, when possible. It's best done before the layout app, since it's when the copy editor works.on the file, and it's his job, and more logical (than keeping errors that anoyher app will correct or doing them manually when it can be automated). If an app can list some common errors, and provide listings, scripting eill be faster. Errors can exist at different level, like spelling or grammar, or with fonts, encoding, etc. If an app can help listing those errors, and provide a file to check/correct/automate some process, I'll say "YES, good job!!!" Combining ideas from different minds is usually best, emcompassing larger views that what we can on our own. Imagine you kept enough of those logs to create later some script/macro or automation to get rid of those problems. It won't be done fastly, but in the end it'll be a better workflow. And there's always the unexpected requets you can solve with such files, as stats about the fonts we used in all our documents, etc. Some.needs can be unique or of a wider usefulness... @R C-R Sometimes, you need to think out of the box with the tools provided. We generate for example a 740 pages book from a web database, processing XML inside ID, since it is able to produce text formatted with all the needed text styles. It's also keeping XML tags, and scripts checking each character (no other way to retrieve thoses tags' page location in ID), where able to process and generate full indexes. With some added scripts, the whole process was reduce to 5/7 × 2 monthes work instead of long week days and saturday work. Some apps can provide half the tools/ideas, but when we add ours it can be more effective.

An option to export this report, the same way as when archiving or making packages in other apps, with report or log files would be usefull. Since the datas are processed to be displayed, a slighty different one to export as XML or CSV shouldn't be difficult to add.

@William Overington You can click on the image, and it'll be larger on a dark background, a better view than small size on a thread. You can also wait until a magnifier appears when the cursor is on this larger picture, and if you click then, the image will open in a new tab. You'll be able to display it full screen.

Usually, in Acrobat or other PDF viewers, you can choose to display/scroll as full page, double pages or depending of zoom level. Such options would be nice in APub, abd why not in AD when there are different artboards? I use a lot those options depending of what I'm checking on a document.

Hi @Abhayan You can copy and paste them easily, you just need to select a font with such characters. You can also find them or check the font in the Glyphes panel.

If tout Can have a vector image, you'll be able to group the girl above the background, and use HSL or other adjustement to modify the green parts. It'll be easier then to use the pipette to pick the resulting colors and modify the curves' fill. But it looks more like an illustration than a logo. Don't forget to check it's readable and understandable in small sizes, like logo can be (or create a minimal version of the logo for small size use. A modern example of this would be browser's tab icon of a logo).

I had this problem while using a beta that is now a retail version. I suspect the problem occurs when an app try to read a locked file the other app is saving, or when the file is only partially written (not reconized/corrupted file).

I don't mind the icons, I use the black & white ones, keep the colored ones for the regular app I also keep in English for screenshots. The difficult icons are the small ones in the context toolbar with the node tool. For the other I use daily, I choose them with the appropriate one character shortcut. The more important is for icons and translation terms to stay in the general scope used by other apps, since we use different apps everyday. No need for an app to create its own "language" -- visually and vocabulary -- for tools that already exist. No need to "réinventer la roue", as we comonly say in French.

The problem come from the semibold version of the font. When using regular, italic, bold, etc., it's alright in APub, but not with semibold.

But those are object styles, not patterns. They memorize custom properties to apply to other objects. Patterns would be more like the fill bitmap option, but with vector or symbols, and, why not another set of properties to manage the way the original pattern is repeated (range, size, rotation... )

It's one of those features asked long ago, since this happen each time you copy a style from another app, and porperties can't be exacly identical since some are different. The second option, beside offering actions when styles have the same name, would be, when trying to delete the duplicated style, to ask if we want: to replace it by [list of other styles], delete and keep local formatting, delete and delete also local formatting.

Because they're different and don't spend their days sending PDF to clients and to print.
