earl_grey got a reaction from Aammppaa in Corner tool changing to node tool after corner rounding
    Hi,
Before I created post about bug but its not a bug. Currently, when I round the corner of a shape, the tool automatically switches to the Node Tool.  I think its not intuitive because I want select a type of rounding and I must to switch to the corner tool again after rounding.

This is not the behaviour in V1, and seems most unhelpful... so I'd agree with you that it is a bug.

    Hi,
just some compliments on the release notes for 2.1. Very well designed and presented, this is how release notes should be made. Usually, it is boring list of stuff nobody wants to read. It is obvious that you put a lot of effort into that, was worth it!
    Cheers,

    Hi,
I would like to suggest adding a Path Width Tool for easier and more precise stroke adjustments. This tool would allow users to thicken the outline at specific points by simply clicking and dragging with the mouse. Other software like Adobe Illustrator and Amadine have a stroke width tool.
The current method, using the Pressure chart in the Stroke panel, is not as user-friendly or accurate as it could be.

I liked the old fillet (corner) tool icon. That said, I like what I am seeing overall.
But you know, a new UI is also so you really feel that yiu've purchased something new. So there's definitely some merit to that. Plus it's nice to do for the staff as well, I imagine.

I searched this forum first and was surprised not to see this asked before. Adobe's subject selection tool with a single click is proving very popular with subscribers to that software. I often isolate my subject to blur the background and would love this to be much faster. Do any of you know or even just think, that we'll see a feature like this added to Affinity Photo 2.0 in the very near future?

earl_grey reacted to Ash in 2.1 Beta Build 8 (2.1.0.1769) release notes
    Hi All,
Thanks again for all your continued help with this release. We are getting very close to launch. This will be the final beta build before what will hopefully be our first release candidate next week. For that reason we are not really making any further significant changes (or anything which could be considered risky).
The main thing I want to make you all aware of is that we have decided to not release the cross-references feature with 2.1. For that reason this feature has been removed from this week's build.
Any documents you may have created which include cross references will still open (and they will even still update), but you will not be able to edit or create new cross-references in 2.1. We understand this might be disappointing for some of you, however we will be moving into 2.2 beta very shortly after 2.1 release, and as soon as a 2.2 beta is available that will include cross-references again (and will definitely make it to 2.2 release!)
We have made this decision primarily as we have been working on adding better formatting options (as have been requested on these forums) into the feature, but we have not quite managed to get it to a point where we feel it will be releasable in time - and considering all the other great stuff / fixes we have put into 2.1 we don't want to delay the whole of 2.1 because of it.

Other than that in this build it's mostly just fixes which you can see in this thread.
    Thanks,
    Ash

    earl_grey reacted to SonjaThompson in 3 tools I miss - a suggestion
There are 3 tools I miss from DrawPlus and CraftArtist, which I used often.  I display them below.  From reading some of the past posts about them, I think your users, myself included, would really love to have them back in some form.  It's way faster and easier to do than even Ctrl-J for large grids and transformations, as shown in the Workbooks, and it's always nice to have more than one way to do things -- in this case, these tasks were simpler in DrawPlus than the newer Affinity.  If our calculations were off for the end result we wanted, we knew right away and could Ctrl-Z, change the parameters, and try again.
    The Replicate Tool:

    The Transform Tool:

And finally the Blend Tool, which can transform one object to another in terms of shapes and figures, images, colors, transparency, etc.  This one is a simple transparency transform for 100% to 20% with 3 steps between:

Thanks in advance for your careful consideration of my suggestion.

Currently to create a new document using the contents of the clipboard, one has to press CTRL+Alt+Shift+N. While this shortcut is functional, it is quite long and can be cumbersome to use. Additionally changing this shortcut may result in overriding another important function.
I would like to propose a more convenient method for creating new documents from the clipboard. I suggest that when no documents are currently active, pressing CTRL+V should directly create a new document using the clipboard contents. This would make the process more intuitive and easier to perform.

    Example
Copy image to clipboard. Open Affinity Designer/Publisher/Photo. Press CTRL+V.

It is cumbersome to use. I never understand
how somebody could offer such a Shortcut.
My patience already ends when i should use two
    control keys. E.g. Shift+Alt+Anykey.
So, any solution that will reduce the keys
is a good one to me.

@mara.cernoch @earl_greyand @chessboardand anyone else reading this thread running Affinity Designer on Windows,
Would you mind trying something for me?  Uninstall the current version of V2 Designer you have installed and install the MSI/EXE installer which you can download from this page:
    https://store.serif.com/en-gb/update/windows/designer/2/
Theres a link just under the download button which says 'Also available: Download latest version EXE (572.42MB)' if you can download that version, install it and see if it performs any better for you.  I'm not working this weekend (yay me) so will check the replies on Monday.  But i'd be really interested if the users with the Ryzen CPU's see an improvement.
There have been users reporting the MSIX versions, which we launched with were running slower than expected in certain workflows (for all Affinity apps, not just Designer), due to the sandboxing of MSIX installs but the .exe version isn't sandboxed so would be a good test to run to see if things improve.  I'm also interested in hearing if the Intel users see an improvement as well, so please don't feel left out and do post your findings, be them good or bad or the same
