  1. Yes, I agree. As another experiment, I created a new file with a text layer. The program called it either "Art Text" or "Frame Text". Perhaps the vector layer concept has been deleted.
  2. Here's the section I was referring to: "Types of layer There are several types of layers that can be created: Pixel layer—containing raster images where pixel-based editing takes place. Mask layer—special layer that allows you to define what content is hidden to reveal layers beneath. Adjustment layer—special layer that can be used to correct or enhance the layers beneath. Fill layer—special layer that contains an adjustable solid or gradient color. Snapshot layer—special layer that contains a predefined project snapshot as a single, flattened pixel layer. Vector layer—vector content, such as curves, shapes, text and placed images, occupy their own unique layer. Vector layers are automatically created whenever you: Draw lines and shapes using the Pen Tool Use any geometric shapes Add Artistic or Frame text Use the Place command to add an additional image to your project."
  3. Okay, thanks. I just read in the Help manual that if you use the Place command to add an image to your project, a vector layer is created. I tried that, and the new layer is called an image layer not a vector layer. Is that right?
  4. Hi, Okay, so if I want to edit the layer itself, I need to change it to a pixel layer by rasterizing. Some tools will automatically switch it. Others will not. Thanks for your help.
  5. Perhaps I am misunderstanding you. I have a background image that I started with. It is listed as an image file. Using a selection brush, I can select part of the image and create a layer mask. When I do that, aren't I editing at the pixel level?
  6. It's an Image file. Suddenly, things are working again. I'm not sure if I changed something or not. I probably did. Anyway, things are fine at the moment. Thanks everyone.
  7. Yes, Transparent Background has been on. Yes to the marching ants also.
  8. There's probably a simple answer to this one. I chose a jpg file of a rabbit on a white background and wanted to delete the background. Using the selection brush, I selected the background. Then I hit delete. Everything was deleted, rabbit and all. All that was left was the ouline of the rabbit on a checkerboard background. I must be missing a step.

  10. I selected a ballerina and then masked out the background (almost). Looking closely, there is narrow whitish line on the top and left. How can I get rid of this? Thanks. SelmaCover1.afphoto
  11. I am reading the Help section about the Media Browser. It says: Options available in the dialog via -click menus Remove—removes the selected folder from Media Browser. The folder and contents are not deleted from your computer. Reload—synchronizes with the selected folder to ensure Media Browser is displaying up-to-date content. Show in Finder—opens the selected folder or file in Finder. Open With Preview.app—opens the selected file in Preview. Quick Look—opens the selected file in Quick Look. When I ^ click in the upper section, only Reload appears. One reason I ask is because I want to Remove some folders from Media Browser. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks
  12. How would I accomplish the following text styling, if possible? I would type the following in a large font: MY JOURNAL I would like to remove the insides of the letters. Only a border outline of each letter would show that I could color as desired. With the insides gone, the layer below would show through. Thanks
  13. Thanks, I went there. I think it's a matter of experimentation to gain experience.
  14. Do video tutorials exist for any of the following subjects: 3D Outer Shadows Bevel/Emboss Thanks
  15. If you have the equipment, you might consider showing a few of the beginner videos that are available.
  16. When you open a topic to view the posts, the oldest post appears at the top. Can this be changed so that the newest post appears at the top?
  17. Even though Page Plus X9 is now a Legacy product, I am considering buying it and using it until Publisher arrives. Is there an available manual for it? Thanks? I found a user guide. Apparently, the program is Windows only. I guess I''ll continue to use Pages until Publisher comes out.
