You can generate a Normal Map using Lighting live filter.
    Normal_Map_Generator.afphoto
    Normal_Map_Generator.afassets
    1. Open your texture in Affinity Photo.
    2. Use the attached file or assets file.
    3. In the Lighting ilve filter settings, load the same texture.

If you bought the app in the Affinity Store, yes you can download the installers for previous versions. Here's the link.
For the other stores (Apple/ Microsoft) there's no way to revert back unless you have some backup you can revert to.

    Hi @Mr. Doodlezz,
Thanks for the additional info. I did understood your issue the first time.
You compared and linked to a similar issue/report with the 3D effect which I logged myself too - the case with the 3D effect was that it didn't even fade while we were dragging the opacity slider towards 0% - then at 0% it was rendering all black.
In your case it does fade while we drag the sliders towards 0% (if you hide the picture frame at the bottom of the layer stack you can see it fading) but then fails to blend (the fill becomes visible) with the the picture frame texture when we unhide it - thus why I said it was partially working.
I'm logging the issue to be looked at. Thanks for your report.

    Hi @Mr. Doodlezz,
Regarding the first issue - the fill opacity is partially working. It doesn't if there's a background layer. If you hide the background and adjust the fill opacity for each case in your sample file you should see it fading. I'm logging this to be looked at.
I'm still checking the second issue - copying/pasting layer effects...

Mr. Doodlezz reacted to Rober in Navigating in input fields with tab and enter
    Hi Affinity Team,
I would like to use the Elgato Stream Deck with the multi-action hotkeys it offers. This allows me to assign the most important functions of my workflow to one key and thus speed up the workflow.
However, this fails because a selected menu has no focus at all, so I can't enter any values in the input menus using the keyboard (as descriped in this thread before)

Example: In Live Unsharp Mask, the default values (Radius 0px, Factor 0.5, Threshold 0%) make little sense. I would therefore like to set the focus on the Radius input field. This is not possible without using the mouse (IMHO). Strangely enough, I can enter a value for the opacity using the numeric keyboard. However, I cannot move the focus from there to the other input fields.
In my opinion, it would therefore be helpful if these functions had a defined start focus when called, so that values can be inserted automatically with defined keyboard sequences.

It would be very useful if Spacing Vertical/Horizontal operation would work with Key Objects. As I don't see it in 2.3 Improvements, I would like to know, if Serif will work on it.

@Ash, I would very, very much appreciate this to be toggleable somewhere in the preferences! 👏
Especially when I'm working with the Corner Tool and need precision because I want/need to try different radii, it is very irritating for me and stops me in my tracks because I have to actively work against the automatic tool selection. I have become so used to the way it worked in previous versions that I currently see no advantage in automatically switching to the Node Tool. Maybe the option to exclude this mechanic from certain tools would be a solution?
    Cheers!

Sure, I just tried – no difference in behaviour. 😕
But even if it would make a difference, setting it to No tips shared does seem like a workaround for the actual problem rather then the solution. Maybe I do want to share some aspects of brushes.

    Hey guys!

Today I played around with the displace live filter.
It’s a very nice and powerful tool to simulate folds of cloths,
but also cracks in walls (like shown in one of the official tutorial
videos by Affinity), grainy paper textures and so on …

This is my first »tutorial« … ever. If you may call it one.
So forgive me for eventual mistakes.
Though It’s pretty much self-explanatory and not that hard
    to follow, I think. ;)

Like I captioned the video: basically you want to create a separate
image with a greyscale profile (at least that’s how I do it), reduced
noise and texture plus a good balance between high, low and mid values.
Grey fabrics work best if you want to change the colour afterwards.   Maybe this helps, have fun playing around with different backgrounds!  ;)   Cheers Dennis

Don't get me wrong: I wouldn't mind either!
    But until that happens…
If you're using a clipboard manager utility, some of them likely have those tools built in. This is from Keyboard Maestro (Mac only):

^ As you can see, it also has tools to manipulate pixel content on the clipboard.
Also a great tool for Mac is WordService from Devon Technologies: devontechnologies.com/apps/freeware
But unfortunately it doesn't work with Affinity because Serif is using some custom text framework, so that the MacOS Services don't recognize a text selection in an Affinity document as text.

Mr. Doodlezz reacted to walt.farrell in Problem with Linked Services in Affinity Publisher on iPadOS using Dropbox
For me, it shows Linked Remote.
Strangely, for me, today Files on my iPad showed the .afdesign file as present (not in the cloud), but the Resource Manager in Publisher showed the file as Missing. In the workspace it looked perfectly fine (not pixelated at all).
Also strange: The placement preference in the document is for Linked, and the Resource Manager showed Linked Remote (and Missing). However, when I used Replace in the Resource Manager, and specified the same .afdesign file in Dropbox, it became Embedded.

    Do I have this correct?
You have a Designer file with multiple Artboards, stored in Dropbox. You have the Dropbox application configured on your iPad, macOS, and Windows. You have Dropbox configured as a Linked Service in Settings for Publisher on your iPad, and I presume also on macOS and Windows. You create a Publisher document on the iPad, with the document Placement Policy set to Prefer Linked. You Place the Designer file from Dropbox into the document. The Resource Manager immediately shows the Linked file as Missing?

Create a polygon with the Pen Tool Round the corners using the Corner Tool Use the Pencil Tool in Sculpt Mode to remodel an edge.
Result: The rounded corner vanishes / resets to being a sharp node.
    Expected: Rounded corner remains.
Note: The rounded corner is always affected at the start node of the polygon, but is usually not affected on other corners (though I have seen instances where they too disappear).

You're absolutely right! I didn't mean to specifically point at the Shape Builder Tool – it was just my initial thought when testing.
I see now how the Corner Tool might be the main culprit given its behavior with other sharp points, so thanks for pointing it out. (No pun intended.)

Mr. Doodlezz reacted to Aammppaa in Rounded Corners Not Holding Up When Mirroring 4-Pointed-Shape in Version 2.1.1
While I agree that there is a bug here (the corner rounding should of course not vanish), I don't think it is a bug with the shape builder tool...
Try recreating your star shape using the regular Boolean tools, and you will see the same behaviour. Perhaps not surprising as the underlying calculations are probably the same.
Try drawing your star shape with the pen tool. You will now find that you can't even apply corner rounding!
The corner tool really doesn't like the incredibly fine points of the star that are formed when the control handles are perfectly aligned to the vertical (or horizontal). If you move one of the control handles very slightly away from the other (zoom in to 10,000% first so it is a microscopic movement), then corner behaves correctly when mirrored.
So I'd suggest that the issue is with the corner tool itself.
Here is a bug report I made 4½ years ago about a similar issue. Sadly v2.1 and v2.2 Beta both still exhibit the pencil sculpt bug.
Could one of the Affinity team please log both bugs for attention? Thanks.

Mr. Doodlezz reacted to NathanC in How Do You Manage (or Delete) Colour Profiles on an iPad?
    Hi @Mr. Doodlezz,
I've just been experimenting with this in the Beta app, the only solid way i've found to delete previously imported custom ICC profiles is to remove and re-download the app which then clears the profile, not really ideal. I had initially thought that it may be possible to remove this via a Clear user data full reset (AKA CTRL Run-up) or by deleting the original location that the ICC profile was stored, but unfortunately neither worked. The profile is downloaded into the app files and there doesn't appear to be any way to manage/edit custom profiles on a surface level.
I'll log this an improvement so that ICC profiles can be better managed/deleted within the app, similar to the Install Fonts interface.
