@anto, would you be so kind as to check on your part (if you have upgraded to V2)? I think this has been changed, for some reason it doesn't work like it does in your video anymore. 🙁

From your signature, I'm guessing you're using V1?
This topic is about the latest version, V2 (V2.1 to be precise), and as you can clearly see in my screenshot, it has changed locations.

The items aren't even arranged alphabetically, which they are in the Windows version. Looks like the Mac version got out of control by Serif 🙂
Odd, right? Considering they started out as Mac-exclusive software.

Those two identical "Toggle Full Screen" items at the end look quite strange 🙂
Haha, I didn't even notice them. Lovely! 🫠

Huh! Yeah, that's what I was expecting!
Strangely enough, this is what the Windows section looks like in the latest official Publisher version. Note the very short scrollbar on the right, there aren't many other options, and certainly no Text section to be found. 🤔Edit: Wait, you work with Windows too, don't you? Maybe it's different there, I haven't tried it yet.

Hey everyone,
Is this intended behaviour? Seems a bit off to me.
Current Behaviour:
- Click & Drag only works for one Spacing option – however it changes the wrong value.
- Click & Drag the icon in front of Space Before Paragraph changes the value for First Line Indent!
- Click & Drag on any other icon in the Spacing section doesn’t do anything. Strangely enough, not even the First Line Indent icon itself is active for this.
Expectation:
- Either Click & Drag on an icon while dragging it left/right will change the value for that icon, or …
- … Click & Drag on icons is generally disabled.
I haven't tested it in beta.
Cheers

@markw, aaah – thanks! It’s the same for Publisher. Man, who came up with that location and name when there’s dedicated and much more intuitive »Window« and »Text« sections? 😅
Anyway, thanks again!

Hey everyone,
I'm kind of missing something. Really stupid question: I have spent the last ten minutes looking for the appropriate submenu in the preferences to assign a shortcut to the Paragraph Panel, similar to how ⌘T works for the Character Panel or ⌘⇧T for the Typography Panel. But when I look for the shortcut for the Character panel, I can't find it either. 😓
Are they predefined and cannot be changed? Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Cheers

The "Awesome" has more advantages, but that would be precious for sure.
Yeah, I know – it’s the whole FontBase package in general in comparison to other apps.
- More OS compatibility compared to RightFont.
- Affordable one time purchase compared to most other managers while still being able to sync over multiple devices via Dropbox
- Search options like x-height
- …
However, automatic font activation alone would be the last missing piece to make me switch. 😉

Serif could make a 1st contact
The lack of official response or reaction (public/forum/anywhere as far as I can tell) on this subject over the past few years somehow suggests to me that this is not going to happen any time soon, more likely never. Unfortunately. 😔
But I'd go »Awesome« in a heartbeat aswell if Affinity compatibility were ever to be achieved – it's the last thing stopping me from upgrading/switching from my outdated Suitcase version to FontBase. 🤩

It's crazy that no one has responded to this in all these years! Even though Satin could be considered niche, it's still important and I think Global Lighting is a must.
It's a bummer that, even after almost a decade, neither has been added. 😔

Deselecting Layers will not Deselect Layers inherited from Designer or Publisher documents. (For example, opened via File → Edit in Photo or the Open dialogue box).
While this is not a macro-only problem, it does become particularly problematic when recording macros that are intended to build on top of existing layers, usually achieved by Deselect Layers. If it were to work as intended (as it does with virtually every other layer or element type in the Layers panel), new layers created by the macro would be added above all layers instead of inside the Designer/Publisher inherited ones.

Hey there,
I didn't see this thread yesterday and created another topic, although it concerns Photo. Guess it’s universal in the suite then.
For me this behaviour becomes particularly frustrating when trying to record and play back macros that require a total deselection of basically everything as the first action (in order to remain fully non-destructive).
With layers inherited from Designer (or Layers layers as you call them here), the actions suddenly take place inside the soft selected Layer layer rather than on top of everything.
There is no solution for this, as the macro is supposed to work with any kind of starting point – Designer-Layer-layer, as well as groups, pixel layers, live filters and so on. It shouldn't matter, as the Deselect Layers operation should theoretically take care of, well, deselecting all sorts of layers. And it does, except for the Layers layers.
That’s my two cents to this issue.

Thank you, although my issue concerns Photo, not Designer. I assumed it’s a Photo issue, but it seems to be a general problem in the suite. That’s unfortunate.

Hey everyone,
unfortunately, the menu item Select → Deselect Layers does in fact not deselect Layers inherited from Designer (and probably Publisher, haven't tested) documents. (E.g. opened a logo constructed in Designer for further post-processing-effects via File → Edit in Photo).
Attached is a short demo, recorded with Photo V2.1.0.
Cheers

Photo 2.1:
- It's not possible to record the renaming of a Compound Mask, whether by double-clicking on them in the Layers panel or from the menu.
- It's not possible to record changing of a Compound Mask mode of a mask inside the Compound Mask.

I'll just keep adding observations and questionable events to this topic as they happen. Feel free to unfollow. 😅

Level Adjustment layers are recorded as »Add levels raster layer« instead of a live adjustment layer
, presumably forcing the previously selected object (layer/grou/shape that was active before the macro got activated) to be rasterised, even though it has absolutely no active part in the macro and everything is deselected as the first action of the macro.
Yeah, no … I thought I had finally figured out why my layers were getting rasterised. But no. 🙄

It's nice to know that the bug is already known and being worked on. Well … is it though?
I'm not sure how much programming and coding is involved, but reading that it works in Studio-Link, as stated by @Paul Mudditt, leads me to believe that it's something that already works and could/should be adapted for the standalone Photo app. (As far as I know, and with my very limited understanding of programming, it works like copy/paste of code snippets – but again, I obviously have no idea).
The problem has been known since December last year, so it's all the more annoying that half a year later there's still no improvement in either the current 2.0.4 release or the latest beta. But I guess adding more and more features instead of fixing existing bugs is the standard now. 😐
Especially when recording macros, I see (and experience) a great potential for error.

Ha, my sorry…
In the same time, people against AI should at least test some AI services so they have some sort of reference what they dislike…
Some services are really great - I use an AI online service that converts audiofiles to MIDI-files, and, the result is stunning!

Not sure what you mean by this in regard to adding a Fill layer via a macro. It won't be rasterized by the macro but you could add that step to the macro if you wanted to convert it to a pixel layer.
You just answered your own question. That is exactly what I mean. A Fill Layer does not necessarily remain a Fill Layer, which, as Walt wrote, can be changed afterwards. As written, in my case the macro actually includes the operation of rasterising to a layer mask – thus the colour of the Fill Layer cannot be adjusted afterwards (after the macro), because it no longer exists at that point.

That works fine, but of course you would have to record a separate macro for each different color you want, so it is not as useful as it could be if the macro itself allowed you to choose the color.
That's exactly what I tried to say. 😉

I may have lost something in the discussiion, but you can specify the color for a Fill layer. You just need to choose it first, using (for example) the Color panel.
Thus, you can record:
- Choosing the color.
- Adding the Fill layer.
At that point you have the Fill layer, with the color you chose, and that can be easily changed after the macro stops running.
There's also the question of how to capture the ability to set the colour each time individually.
That is, one time I run the action and decide I need a blue fill, another time I might need a yellow fill. The colour you set while you record the macro, as suggested by you and @David in Яuislip earlier, is fixed and can't be changed when running the macro.
Also, a macro doesn't have to end nondestructively, so the result might be a rasterised layer, or in my case even a layer mask instead of a pixel layer.
