Spot UV
Mr. Doodlezz replied to imichaud's topic in Tutorials (Serif and Customer Created Tutorials)
Hey, no problem, thanks! ;) I think it’s getting recognized easier by the printer as a different/special type of colour, I guess. I’m not really sure about that either, it’s just like I was educated like this, it’s a standard I think. Maybe it’s because Pantone is just as special or similar in the production as the UV coating? Hm, there should be official, international colour swatches for different coatings by now, would make things a lot easier. :) Edit: I just tried a regular CMYK based colour instead of the Pantone swatch – works just as well! ;) With the Spot and Overprint boxes checked, the CMYK-swatch gets handled as or converted into a fulltone/Pantone colour when exporting. -

Hey guys … so I sat down for a while and tried the approach I know from AI and IND. This is how I made my designs when there’s special finishing involved in the layout. https://youtu.be/Prw53U4HfyU Maybe this helps and you get the idea how to apply it to your design. :) Cheers Dennis Edit: Oh, and here’s the file in case you want to study it. ;) Card Example.afdesign -

A recent, minimalistic design of mine combining both Affinity apps for different effects. Let me know what you think about it. ;)- 35 replies

Hmmm … no, unfortunately this isn't possible in Affinity Photo I think. Photoshop converts everything to pixel as well when exporting, as far as I can remember.

I’m not sure if this is what you mean, but the placed and perspectively transformed placed document stays editable at all times, unless you rasterize it manually or prompted with a dialogue. Remember: this is the Perspective Filter, not the Perspectiev Tool which – you're right – rasterizes the element you're working with. You can place any document and distort it in perspective – though I miss a few additional handles for curved edges and stuff. In my example I placed a document originally created in Designer as the object, you can still access all layers after your distorted it. Here’s a short clip for demonstration. ;) https://youtu.be/8-TIxmKs6OA Cheers Dennis

Using Photoshop Plugins
Mr. Doodlezz replied to RKTodd's topic in [ARCHIVE] Photo beta on macOS threads
Okay, thanks Herbert123 for explaining this anyway. -_- -
Hey guys, I just recently found out about the live perspective filter – how could I miss this important filter?! :o This filter is awesome! It’s similar to my beloved Smart Objects from Photoshop, if not better considering in combination with other live filters like DOF! So I thought why not share my first »just-replace-and-you’re-ready-to-go« file. :D In case you want to try – here’s the download. A nice and simple DIN letterhead mockup to demonstrate how cool this filter works, maybe it saves you time somehow. ;) You may need to further adjust it to your liking. Have a nice day Dennis

Using Photoshop Plugins

Hey there, without having read the whole topic – is there maybe an ongoing list out there with working or partly working plugins for Photo? Or – by any chance – can someone tell me if the super handy GuideGuide plugin is working and how exactly to install it if so? I tried the free CC 2015 version so far, but I’m not sure … it does not appear in the plugin list in Photo. Thanks Dennis ;) -
Wow, this is vector based? Astounding, looks really awesome! :O

Here’s my list of bookmarks when it comes to stock photos. Some of them might be a bit outdated. But pixabay and unsplash, mentioned by manuschwendener.ch, I like the most. ;) http://www.cupcake.nilssonlee.se http://www.deathtothestockphoto.com http://www.foodiesfeed.com http://www.getrefe.tumblr.com http://www.gratisography.com http://www.imcreator.com http://www.jaymantri.com http://www.jaymantri.com http://www.jeshoots.com http://www.kaboompics.com http://www.lifeofpix.com http://www.littlevisuals.co http://www.lockandstockphotos.com http://www.negativespace.co http://www.nos.twnsnd.co http://www.picjumbo.com http://www.pixabay.com http://www.raumrot.com http://www.snapwiresnaps.tumblr.com http://www.splitshire.com http://www.stocksnap.io http://www.superfamous.com http://www.tock.tookapic.com I recommend to also register at creativemarket.com, they offer six free goods every week like fonts, vector graphics, WordPress templates, photos, brushes and so on … haha, sorry for advertising, but they have nice deals for designers and creatives in general. :D Cheers Dennis

Remember font and size each session

Oooh, since when there’s a feature for default new documents? Never noticed it before – nice! :D -
Hey there, this is more of a very very tiny feature request. If you change the brush softness (and size) via the ⌃+⌘-keys and mouse drag I noticed if the cursor is near the bottom of the screen you're literally bound by the hardwares edge – the adjustment stops there and you have to repeat the step if you want the brush to be softer. Maybe virtually expand the range of the cursor so one can click and drag further, or something? I don’t know. :) I’m not sure how else to describe it, but I hope you get what I’m talking about. Cheers Dennis

Ooor … maybe give us all three options so we can choose which one works good – please? :D I personally really liked the »align to key object« function, worked fine for me. But of course, first/last object would be a very good alternative to the current system. Cheers Dennis ;)

I read the word »symbols« far to often the last few minutes skimming this thread, searching information about symbols. Apparently everyone likes the symbols. Very much. I like the symbols, too. Are there any news on the symbols? B)
