  1. Hey there community and Affinity devs, some time ago I asked the developers via Facebook if there's an option to keep the adjustment presets like gradient maps, imported and saved LUT files, levels, curves – pretty much everything in the "Adjustment"-palette/tab that you may have generated and saved there over time. Back then (August 2015) you would need to save them separately, because you'd loose them with the next update – at least that's what happened to me twice – after that I was more cautious about those files. Anyway, I got a pretty helpful response: I was told there's a file called adjustments.propcol in the directory /Users/<USERNAME>/Library/Containers/com.seriflabs.affinityphoto/Data/Library/Application Support/user/ and it would contain all of my adjustments – and it's true! You can save that file and put it back there after each update to preserve your custom presets. Tough I guess it's been solved since a few updated ago because I haven't done it after a couple of times. Last year I purchased the Win-version of Affinity Photo as well and just now I'm starting to wonder: How to transfer adjustment presets from one system (Mac) to another (Win) and is this possible in the first place? So if anyone knows the answer or a workaround that doesn't involve loading everything manually I'd be pretty thankful. Greetings Dennis
  2. Hey guys! Strange … I just wondered about this option as well a few days ago – good to know I’m not the only one who’s missing this feature. Thanks carl123 for pointing this out! It’s good to know there’s a way to expand/collapse all layers/groups/shapes/… – though maybe we can encourage the developers so for a future update they consider adding the opt+click-on-arrow variant which some of us already know from Adobe products and even from Finder on Mac as well, or at least the possibility to assign a shortcut. Right now it just seems a bit strange to me that you need to right-click into a dropdown menu just to find two options that could basically be one option. Greetings Dennis
  3. Hey guys, just today again I really could’ve used this function – or at least very a similar function with the same result – as well. Maybe this could at least get added to the mentioned roadmap? At this point I’d rather have this feature instead of the Mesh Warp filter which I personally find pretty imprecise for a simple perspective transform like shown in the attached file. As I create mostly simplistic and »clean« logos or imagery in apps like AD or AI I never really had any use for it as far as I can recall – but that’s very subjective of course. As Matt already stated it’s a bummer we need come up with work arounds for (simple?) missing features like this. Greetings Dennis perspective_transform.mp4
  4. Hey Andrew, thank you so much for listening, I’m so looking forward for this! Have a spooky evening, Dennis
  5. Hey there. For me this point still doesn't work out as I assumed or hoped. The situation is this: my default/system language is German and the most used symbol for differing decimals is comma – not just that but it's also the symbol on every german keyboard numbpad. But I like to run programs in english (better/international wording for some tools, functions, filters e.g. and just simply my preference). Just now I sat down and did some testing, hoping for enlightenment or at least give me a reason to just go with the german settings. UI set to English: If I type 12,5 (comma) the application will decline the new value. The parameters are set back to the previous value. If I type 12.5 (period) the application will accept the new value. UI set to German (or system language for that matter): If I type 12,5 (comma) the application will accept the new value. If I type 12.5 (period) the application will – also – accept the new value. I find this strange. I expected the German setting to refuse the use of period as a dividing symbol, just as it is the case with comma and the English setting. My question/s: Why is the app behaving like this? Will this get fixed/changed/optimized any time soon? Is it supposed to work like that? What can I do to change it without changing the way my system works? There’s also a topic about this or at least a very similar problem leading to this, dating back three years with some recent activity about this matter – it does apply to both apps btw. Greetings and thanks for the great updates nonetheless Dennis
  6. Count me in on the crashes … can’t save in any format via ⌘+⌥+S, regular saving works though.
  7. Hey tmarq, I don’t understand this either, since it even worked in some previous versions (beta and releases) of AD and AP. Don’t quite understand why it’s not supported at this point, but I’m eagerly waiting for the new release and hope they will reimplement this. :( Greetings Dennis
  8. Hey Fixx, I suppose you're using the latest versions of the apps as well? This is odd, maybe I should consider moving to Finland in that case. ^_^ Greetings Dennis
  9. Thanks, Esteban for recalling this thread. I would also like to know why it's changed back to strictly using either comma or point for specific languages. My preference is using the english UI, but working with a german keyboard layout using comma is much more convenient – this was already working at some point. In every language both inputs where handled correctly, one could enter comma or point with any language. I already was writing to someone at Affinity via Facebook but couldn't find this thread to refer to. Also not much information about the problem or its solution could be given. This problem – again – is really bugging me out and I'm wondering why nobody else is talking about it. Greetings Dennis
  10. Hey guys, the holiday spirit got me and I experimented a little with new symbol palette in Designer. I thought maybe this will be useful for someone out there who’s creating last minute greeting cards, name-tags for presents or other related stuff – or just for fooling around. ;) Here’s an example, an inspirational little how-to clip plus the file. Snowflake Generator.afdesign Happy holidays and enjoy! :) Dennis
  11. Okay … I'ma bit late with this one. But hey, there’s always »The Nightmare Before Christmas«, right? This illustration was created with both apps, Affinity Designer and Photo. I used Frankentoons Texturizer brushes (they're awesome) and finished up with some additional textures and filters from the Google Nik Collection. I also limited my palette to four rather unusual base colours. Let me know what you think. Cheers Dennis Oh, I forgot: here’s the sketch I was working on …
  12. Hey Patrick, any idea if options like these will be implemented in the future? Greetings Dennis
  13. Oooh wait, that’s exactly it! :o Hm, yeah, I’d like to see that in Affinity Designer :D What’s that nice function called in english? Apply vertical gradient to stroke or something? Awesome, thanks Mike for pointing it out, apparently I was misled by the tool hint while testing. :) Greetings Dennis
  14. Hey MikeW, hmmm, can you give me an example? I know about Illustrators functions, but the specific option I was thinking about isn't there. What I was thinking about looks more like this … I tried to »mock up« my idea, maybe this will clarify what I mean. I broke the gradient down for easier explanation. Basically the position/percentage of one color on the gradient is adapted onto the length of the path, if that makes sense. It’s not super accurate, but it would look similar to this. Greetings Dennis
  15. Hey there! Not sure if this may come in handy or much of use, but it would be a cool feature I haven’t seen in any other App so far (if there are any pleas tell me): I was creating these sort of vines for an illustration in Designer and I tried several ways to create this »overlapping« effect, simulating depth. The vines were created with a regular outline/stroke with some pressure simulation. I then started to destructively split the path into several segments and apply gradients on some parts and place other segments on top (see images, I think you see what I’m talking about). Problem here is it needs further adjustments, cause every time the stroke width is slightly changing – that’s when I came up with the idea of a gradient that follows the form and curves of a stroke from start to end. Not sure if something like this is even possible, but let me now what you think. :) Also if anyone has a more convenient way for something this without necessarily cutting or expanding the stroke – I’m listening. ;) Have a nice weekend Dennis
  17. Hey guys … Can someone give me a reaction to this topic? This still bugs me out so very, very often since I use that live filter daily. Or at least I’d like to. I’d really like to work with Photos live filters to maintain the options to change its effect or strength at any time, but since the interest/support in this specific filter seems not present and the NIK-plugins gone free I use them instead since they got just more options plus constraining/maintaining the radius/shape of the blur. Thanks Dennis
  18. Hey guys, thanks for helping me out here! It was definitely my fault for not fully paying attention to the video. »Plugin Support Folders«-part was the problem – thought it had to be the same as the plugins folder itself. Everything is working fine for me now. Cheers and happy editing ;) Dennis
  19. Hey guys … that's cool news! :) Only thing is I can't get the plugins to work in AP to try them. :( I deinstalled/reinstalled the collection three times and tried the different approaches as described, but I still get the buy/demo message and after that no dialogue or a dialogue without an image. Do I need the latest beta AP for this to work? Anyone else still having these problems? Thanks and cheers Dennis
  20. Ah, I see! Of course it’s a matter of the rip software you use, you're totally right Adrian! ;) I’m not that familiar with the matter either, it’s just the way I’d do it, worked for me in the past. :) Cheers Dennis
  21. Haha, nice! :D The Astropad Mini App for iPhone is totally free btw. if you want to try. You don’t even need an account … I need to fiddle around with this one. Thanks for the reminder MBd! Cheers Dennis
  22. Hey JevoUK, the cyan varnish swatch is neither set as a Spot Colour nor Overprint Colour and there’s no actual layer called »White_ink« present in your provided document. So right now it’d just print what’s displayed – that's a cyan rectangle with a magenta outline, no white ink would be used in this case. (I currently don’t have the right colour profile installed, but fulltone colours/Pantone colours are displayed as a special channel in most profiles.) According to your instructions the file should rather look like this, if I work along the specifications you’ve set. (Pay attention to the swatches and layers panel.) Here’s the file if you want to check. ;) UV Spot White_ink.afdesign Cheers Dennis
