  1. Hey, guys, this option is also missing in my current workflow, I use it quite often. I thought I might not have searched properly, but I think it is missing currently – actually there are some other special characters missing, I guess. Let's keep our fingers crossed that they will be implemented in some future versions. @machadodesign: Maybe add a few tags, so admins and users may find this request easier/faster if they search for keywords. Cheers MrDoodlezz
  2. I've already figured that out. Though, a new version is not really a reason to shrink the roadmap and therefore withhold information on existing inquiries that were already requested in previous versions more than a year ago. And that's quite a lot by now. My point is that it would be more efficient to comment on community requested features as concretely as possible and provide their status if they are already in development or not. Without accurate feedback, the invitation for inquiries (as promoted in every video) makes no sense. Otherwise the same feature requests will appear in the forum time and again (just like it happened to me the last time ) because maybe not everyone uses the right keywords or the option to tag to the full extent. Thus many requests are lost in the crowd. With a more transparent, fixed and up-to-date roadmap/thread (just as it was originally thought) the effort for requests and features on both sides – the community and the developer – would be reduced. But … that's not really what this thread is about anyway, thanks for your insight anyway.
  3. Hey folks, Sooo … what are the plans here? Can we get an update on this topic after more than twelve months? I'd be great to add more picture agencies, maybe some creative commons like Unsplash as well. Maybe the community can edit the list itself at some point? <- That would actually be awesome. Or alternatively we could express wishes as to which agencies should be available for selection. Btw. it's a bummer the publicly viewable roadmap has been reduced to a few items - so much so that many open questions or requested/required features are missing from the list. If I understand correctly it was last updated before version 1.6. Regards MrDoodlezz
  4. Hey everyone! Unfortunately I couldn't find a comment about this question. If there is already a topic, please refer to it. What about other suppliers of stock photos? In all applications there is already the palette called "Stock". Among it you can see a drop-list, but it only contains one item/supplier which is Shutterstock. Are there plans to add more picture agencies, maybe some creative commons like Unsplash as well? Or will the community have the possibility to edit the list itself at some point? <- That would actually be awesome. Is it possible to express wishes as to which agencies should be available for selection? Regards MrDoodlezz
  5. Hmmm, is that so? Well, once in a while I want to be a lawbreaker as well. Then this time I just take the chance and the post simply remains as it is. Cheers MrDoodlezz
  6. Oh, that's too bad. Okay, rules are rules I guess. I'll adjust the post later when I'm sitting at my desk again (formatting while on the bus is a pain), I just read your response. Anyway, thanks for the information, guys! I may need to study the house rules again. Cheers, hope lunch was okay MrDoodlezz
  7. Hey, guys, I've seen this request in several threads now and I miss the option of auto-activating fonts as well. So … are there any updates here so far? Now that Publisher is in beta this topic is getting more and more important, I think. A general question: what is missing or what has to be done to make font manager programs like FontExplorer, FontBase or Suitcase Fusion compatible with Affinity? Does the application need to be reprogrammed by Affinity? Are the developers of the font manager programs informed about the requirements? Cheers MrDoodlezz
  8. I'm not sure if this is allowed here, but I'm doing it anyway: some of my designs can be found on Society6, a website where you can customize and sell cushions, canvas prints, mugs, tablets, cell phone covers and much more. For example you can find there my Blōem-series, or the Blood Circulator. Have a look, maybe you'll find the one or the other thing you like, maybe even buy something from my collection, or give them some boost with a simple like. Cheers Dennis/MrDoodlezz
  9. Hey guys, I've got a slightly similar question: I made a selection with any selection tool I want to add or substract just the opaque/transparent pixels of other layers to it. Crtl+Shift+click (on Win) on those specific layers in the layers palette sadly doesn't work the way it does in Photoshop. Are there different shortcuts for this operation? Haven't tried, but it's the same on Mac OS I guess. I know the workarounds, but this is so tedious and inconvenient to do every time. Cheers and thanks MrDoodlezz
  10. So it's been a while since I posted something in my thread, so I thought I'd upload my most recent design. Here's my attempt to recreate an anatomically correct heart out of vectors. It consists only of intersecting circles: What do you guys think? ♥
  11. Hey Tourmaline, ah yes, I heard of Suitcase. I only got FontExplorer at work and FontBase at home so far. Suitcase (and FontExplorer as well) though need to be bought after the trial period whereas FontBase is free. I’m gonna try the Suitcase demo for a few days now. Do you have any experiences with auto-activation and Affinity products? Cheers MrDoodlezz Edit: Unfortunately I can’t even try the demo – it requires the latest Mac OS which I can’t run on my machine yet. Oh well.
  12. Hey guys, I agree, this function is very much needed. Especially for sharing/working different machines that aren't connected via a server or else. It's a very simple and convenient way to gather all the use materials in one tidy folder with according sub folders like Images or Fonts. And if you want – and you're like me – you can still add your own Drafts/Versions, Inspiration/Mood, Exports or else folders and move the remaining, unlinked but related files and tying up the whole project in one clean place. Maybe there'll be something like a separate Package or Bundle Persona with different options, or maybe it get's integrated in a Export Persona like the one we got in Designer? Anyway – count me in, I'd very much like to see this option in the (near) future! Cheers and have a nice weekend MrDoodlezz
  13. Hey guys, hey Mithferion! Thanks for putting these together, it's quite the collection! Not sure if everyone is familiar with it, but just yesterday I posted about FontBase in another thread. FontBase is a basic font-management software wich offers a free version. One cool thing I noticed is that right from the start it has the Google font library linked into it's code or something like that, so you can activate them without even visiting the side. I thought that's pretty clever! Besides that, with a growing library like this you might want to organize the fonts more specific maybe by topic, different projects, names or groups. Or maybe you don't need all the bazillion fonts activated at the same time which may slow down you machine and is pretty distracting. Well, I just thought I'd leave this here – try it, it's free! Fontbase.mp4 Have a nice day! MrDoodlezz
  14. Oh, I see, thanks for the explanation! It implies that you need to know the exact characters name or unicode? For the whole font, for all styles and width? For all fonts in my library? Wow, can it get any less intuitive and confusing? Sure it could be worse … still.
  15. Hmmm … the the glyphs palette with dark UI active is actually another good point. Just now I realized that the glyphs palette content is inverted as well! I don’t think that's a good idea at all, you may work with an overall dark UI while still designing a white product with dark colored type – why would I want to see white glyphs on a grey background? That’s kind of distracting and doesn’t really support work. On the other hand … maybe it doesn't really matter, because it could also be the other way around. Still it’s an strange choice to handle the »dark theme« and especially this palette. Cheers MrDoodlezz
  16. Hey chrisk, any new information on this topic? Yesterday I contacted FontBase and asked if they got any plans for including Affinity products in their range, especially for the auto-activation. They said they have it on their roadmap – so that’s good news! FontBase may be an alternative to be considered. Basic functions are free, but auto-activating and advanced features come with either a subscription model or a one-time-purchase for three machines (Mac/Win) – also I’d say right now it’s way more affordable compared to FontExplorer, though it lacks some comprehensive options. FontBase.mp4 Now the important question that remains is: What are the requirements to get this to work with Affinity products? I guess plugin-support is a must, but right this moment I can't remember/check if Publisher and Designer have plugin-support at this time … Greetings MrDoodlezz
  17. Hey toltec, right, the glyphs browser is there – but the functionality is kinda missing right now. Alternate Glyphs.mp4 What’s the searchfield good for anyway? I thought I could just type a letter and get alternates. Instead something else happens, the glyphs shuffle a bit, but I can’t figure out how that’s supposed to help. Does anyone know what’s it about? Cheers MrDoodlezz
  18. Hey guys, are there news on this by any chance, MEB? It's been over a year now and I think it's a function that's pretty relevant and convenient – also looking at Publisher in the works, where this will get quite important! Scroll to endless glyphs to in search for the "alternating L" glyphs is quite the pain and time consuming. cloudbusting: you might want to add some more tags to this post so it get's found more easily. Greetings MrDoodlezz
  19. Hey Earth Design, sorry for the late response. There are two ways for changing the colour: With the Effects Palette active, click on the check box labelled »Colour Overlay«, change the colour. With the Layers Palette active, click on the little fx-icon and navigate to the check box labelled »Colour Overlay«, change the colour. Some additional tips: Light colours work better than dark colours hence the inner Inner Shadow that otherwise gets nearly unnoticeable. You can also give the colour a bit noise if that's something you want. Hope this little clip helps. Colour.mp4 Cheers MrDoodlezz
  20. Hey guys, nice to read that you're enjoying the sticker. So in respond to Tinakr I updated the file and added a rectangular (1:1) sticker. Have fun! MrDoodlezz
  21. Hey guys, just a quick and clean Designer file: a round sticker mock-up for your … mock-upping needs. You can change almost everything and layers are named accordingly to their purpose: rotation, colour, outline. Also let me know if you need a rectangular version, so I’ll add one with the same style. Edit: Rectangular sticker added. Sticker.afdesign Cheers and have fun! MrDoodlezz
  22. Oooh, I see! Thanks for pointing that out, you're right. I guess I created them as system palettes. Thanks for your quick respond about this matter, owenr! Something to have in mind for the future.
  23. Hey MEB, though this thread seems a bit dusty I have the following question: I'd like to export my colour palettes on my Mac and import them on Win so my swatches are in sync. My problem is that the export only results in .clr files which – for me unknown reasons – can't be imported again in Affinity Photos on Windows. Am I doing something wrong? How do I get the .afpalette format? Help would be greatly appreciated. Greetings MrDoodlezz
  24. Hey guys, just to put in my two penny worth. Exactly the problem! There's a great demand for a permanent list or palette displaying any missing fonts if there are any. Currently I've got a Designer-document with six different fonts which I disable between projects that distributed over several segments. If I open the document later on I get the prompt in the upper right corner wich disappears after a just a couple of seconds as already mentioned several times. I would need to open the document several time or take a screenshot in order to see and activate missing fonts. Although there is a Missing Fonts option in the Characters palette at the bottom of the first drop-down, it does not work reliably for me at all. Some fonts are displayed to me after I come across and select the text segment that's been formatted with the missing font. Other fonts apparently get replaced with already activated fonts automatically – who thought this would be a good idea? This creates more trouble than it tries to solve. Sorry if I'm harsh, but I've got to say that's a pretty useless feature if you ask me – what kind of solution is this supposed to be? Especially (professional) graphic artist and designers (maybe switching from Adobe products) don't leave the font replacement to a program by chance! Full control or at least a notification or replacement dialogue before anything gets randomly replaced would be a better solution. I also get this relating error working on an Mac: After activating missing fonts with the document already opened only some fonts get replaced, others stay a generic system font. Hopefully some of this makes it into a future update or get fixed. Greetings and thanks, MrDoodlezz
  25. Hey Twain, I just stumbled upon this today as well after opening a PSD file which looked totally differnet compared to what it looked like in Photoshop. It's nice those text boxes are there – but they just won't work for me as expected, if they work at all. This is a problem if you need to open PSD files which come with curves that originally have those informations attached, regardless if you need those values for professional production or amateur image editing. If the material looks different from what you expect it's unnecessary work to recreate the right values/look, especially if one assigned the input/output to the individual channels with more then one node on each curve. Also I figured while in Photoshop has a different default setting how to display input/output values that Affinity Photo. Photoshop: Affinity Photo: Affinity Photo allows values from -100 to +100 – the unit is undefined, I couldn't find where it says what those values actually mean, and I have no idea what "float" is supposed to mean in this context. Also in Photoshop you can assign values for individual points on the curve, while Affinity Photo allows only one value as a general input if I understand correctly. I hope some developer reads this and can give us insight about this topic and why those fields are there and what's the intention about changing how they usually work completely. Personally I think especially curves is the most basic adjustment there is and it's not really working out as intended – even if AP is out a few years now. The option to quickly change between editing modes (RGB, CMYK, Lab, Grey) is interesting, but maybe that's the point why it's not working as expected. Greetings Dennis
