BartHovis reacted to degtrv in Is AFFINITY dead?
I actually switched back to Photoshop and Bridge after using Affinity Photo for over 3 years, because I needed some sort of DAM software, better RAW engine and some photoshop tools + full PSD compatibility. But I still use Affinity Designer for vector work, because it just works better for me than Illustrator.

BartHovis reacted to ATP in Is AFFINITY dead?
The RAW processing in Affinity is unusable in my opinion, granted I've only tried from Canon and iPhone, but the pictures look completely wrong compared to other software that just nails the look first try.

BartHovis reacted to jaizon in Affinity Photo Windows Customer Beta - 1.10.0.1115
Is the Hardware acceleration causing random and constant crashes issue being addressed?

BartHovis got a reaction from Chris B in 1.9.0.852 crashing
I just installed a Beta update for Capture One 21 and rebooted the computer. When first run after a new install, C1 spends a few minutes configuring hardware acceleration, and I was worried this might cause trouble with AP Beta. However I spent about 10 minutes trying various things in AP (open/close files, several adjustments), and no crashing. All appears to be well now...
Thanks,
Bart

BartHovis got a reaction from Chris B in 1.9.0.852 crashing
I'm not sure what the Capture One thumbnail provider is, but I turned off thumbnails in Windows File Explorer (after restarting computer) and was able to open and edit files in AP Beta without crashing. I then turned thumbnails back on, and still no crashing. So I'm not sure if this is the thumbnails you were referring to, but for now it's working well. I have both Capture One v20 and Beta v21, but have not uninstalled either since AP Beta is not crashing now.
One other issue: the Highlights slider in Develop Persona (under Shadows & Highlights) does nothing.
So far, so good, but I'll keep working and see how it goes...
Thanks,
Bart

BartHovis reacted to AlainP in Colour profile conversion for DxO plugins - beta 1.8.0.486
Here in Viveza 2 colors are washed out and have a purple cast.

Hi,
the issue of colour profile is well fixed for DFine 2 (many thanks for that!), but it still does not work for Viveza 2.

Such amazing achievements for only 5 years! I used to be a software developer and I know how much commitment and hard work goes into it.

We can’t believe it’s been five years since we launched Affinity Designer, the first in our creative suite of apps. It’s been an incredible journey and we’re amazed that Affinity has now been adopted by over two million users worldwide.
Along the way we’ve launched the first professional creative applications for iPad, picked up loads of awards including an Apple Design Award and multiple App of the Year awards, and finally realised our initial vision for Affinity - to provide one seamless workflow between creative applications - with the announcement of StudioLink in Affinity Publisher just a few months ago.
All of our success is down to the support and feedback you’ve given us, so as a thank you, we’ve slashed the prices of our content packs in half.
This 50% off sale is only on for a limited time, so make sure you head over to our store now so you don’t miss out. Sale ends Friday 4th Oct!

While you're here we have also just released updates to all our applications, details are found in links from this post

BartHovis reacted to MEB in Nik plugins not available
Hi BartHovis,
Welcome to Affinity Forums
All the other Nik plugins only support 8/16 bit images. The image on your screenshot is 32 bit. Changing the image format to 8/16bit ( menu Document > Convert Format / ICC Profile, first dropdown) will let you work with the other plugins.

BartHovis reacted to laurentia in Color problem with Nik Collection plugins
Unfortunately, the problem still has no solution in the new beta 331.
Regrettably, I will end up giving up Affinity Photo. As it stands, I still can not give up Photoshop ...
-
BartHovis reacted to laurentia in Color problem with Nik Collection plugins
Hi WMax70,
I use Capture One Pro as a raw converter ...
I use the Nik Collection for special effects like cross processing and others from PS, but I will have liked to do it from AF Photo if only it could work properly ...

BartHovis reacted to ddill in Nik Plugins
Just an FYI on Nik plugins. They load okay, but the font and preview panels are very tiny.

BartHovis reacted to Asser82 in Introducing... Affinity Spotlight
First my heart jumped...because I thought spotlight might be the Affinity lightroom. But thinking about it, I remembered, that I read a RAW vs JPEG article on spotlight yesterday, which was great. So, thx for this.

BartHovis reacted to mr_pitts in Affinity DAM Feature Requests
I have been searching endless, and in vain, to find the perfect Digital Asset Management solution.
I am a massive fan of Serif products and have been from way before Affinity, but I am in desperate need of this promised product.
In addition to already existing great products (PhotoMechanic for speed of ingesting files, Clarifai for auto tagging, Photos / Apeture (though discontinued) for Asset organisation, etc) there are some other features I would hope for
create stacks of images - each stack to have a right click function of 'create focus merge, create HDR merge, create panorama' straight into Affinity Photo
Auto tagging / keywords. this has come a long way in recent years and would save SOOO much time - i would also be willing to pay a SMALL monthly subscription for such a service.
Structured keywords - with ready made structures
And should Serif be short on Beta testers - pick me (please)

BartHovis reacted to R C-R in Crop and Rotate in Develop Persona
But like @toltec mentioned for the Lens panel, this straighten option destructively crops out the edges that are rotated out of the document's dimensions, & it leaves empty areas as well. Rotating the view is not destructive.
-
BartHovis reacted to toltec in Crop and Rotate in Develop Persona
In the Develop Persona, in the Lens panel you can rotate and scale the image at the same time.
By scaling the image inside the document window, you effectively crop it. Although it's only really useful to get rid of the missing corners (caused by rotation) as there is no X - Y positioning. You can of course, use the Lens panel to rotate the image and then crop it using the crop tool but it is destructive. You can't unclip it in the Photo Persona afterwards.
