Yes I agree. However, Affinity was developed initially for Mac which didn't get to run PagePlus and that is the platform that most professional DTP users were on at the time. So maybe supporting that software file format is not such a priority.

Some things I would like to see added to Affinity Publisher in the future are ...
- Captions for inserted illustrations.
- A story editor mode for text editing.
- A grammar checker and a proofreader.
- A Thesaurus.
- A pre-flight check before publishing or exporting.
- A mail merge facility.
- A barcode generator for using on book covers. Although that might be useful for Affinity Designer if one is considering the integrated suite.
- A book publishing management function.
- Footnotes / endnotes and cross-references.
- PagePlus / Scribus file import facilities.
- Improved filter effects including Materials, Warp, Shadows, Reflections, Feathering and regularly used presets.
...Not essential but useful would be ...
- Templates.
- E-publishing,
- Charts would be useful.
- An integral font management tool for managing installed fonts on the system.

Will Affinity Publisher support a grammar checker in the near future? PagePlus has one. If not then maybe supporting the Language Tool extension for LibreOffice and Open Office might be a good idea.

Never heard of those, I'll have to look into them. I started using pdfToolbox since that is usually what they talk about in the Quark forums for some reason.
I got Nuance PaperPort 12 SE free with WordPerfect X6 as a document manager. I picked up the Corel PDF Fusion from a charity shop with a suite of software for £1.
Apparently Nuance have some draconian registration issues. So a bundled SE version might be a better option. I think PDF Fusion is arounf £20.

PagePlus X9 publishes to EPUB

I use Corel PDF Fusion and sometimes Nuance PaperPort

Will Affinity Publisher have a grammar checker included as well as a spell checker? I believe PagePlus had a grammar checker included by Wintertree.

I have noticed that typing a word into the search box in the help feature and pressing RETURN doesn't actually do a search of the help feature.
Am I missing something? -
Yes I've tweaked the PDF and it looks better. Thanks! This package is very versatile.
I take it the persona buttons will only operate if you have the Affinity Photo, and Affinity Designer applications as well. In the release version that is.

Hello, I thought that I'd experiment in laying out a poem in PagePlus X9 and Affinity Publisher for comparison As you can see the results are very similar but PagePlus has the edge using features such as optical justification and use of filter effects for the drop shadow. Affinity Publisher layer effects aren't as versatile as PagePlus which is a shame. Admittedly I haven't found out how to successfully use optical justification in Affinity Publisher yet so that may be my own issue rather than the program's issue.
I do think Affinity Publisher is a very polished and capable product though, and I am looking forward to its release. Keep up the good work.

Yes I would very much like to see footnote and endnotes supported as a serious feature required by anyone who needs a Desktop Publishing Application.

I was thinking that the affinity range could do with a fourth persona ...
Affinity Type-Smith
Supporting creation and editing of designer fonts, managing fonts, and integrating with the other Affinity products.
It is just an idea.

Does anyone know if Affinity Photo supports a plugin for this BenVista Photozoom Professional 7?
