It's the lack of security that worries me now Walt.  I'm recently retired and have some VERY expensive windows only software running on what's now my last windows machine.  A lot , with the attendant hardware, won't run on Win10 so I'm just not taking any chances.  Once I'd first heard of the cessation of Win7 support by Microsoft a good few years ago now, I was determined to use Linux for as much as I could from then on.  And it's almost all now.  Blender replaces Cinema4D and Max, Gimp & Darktable nearly PS & AF, Natron for AfterEffects, Audacity for SoundForge, the list goes on.  Amazing and all free.

Hi,

I'm running both Affinity Photo and Designer purchased late 2016 on a Win7Pro workstation that does not now connect to the internet.  I'd like to update my software (current = AF v16) to the latest.  I've downloaded the exe files but before installing, can I do this on the workstation that has no internet access?

Many many thanks for getting back so quickly.  Will I need to uninstall the existing packages before running the exe files or can I just overwrite them?

Thanks so much Walt.  By getting the installer on the machine, do you mean getting the exe files transferred?  If so no problems.  Having fallen out with Microsoft a couple of years ago and Apple a long time before that, I'm practically all Linux now!  However the old Win7 box is still in use for AF and other progs I really like.  Gimp's great but sadly no macro recorder at present and scripting for gimp is very demanding compared with the simplicity of macros in PS and AF.

[Why AERO is really important?]

How do you install it and choose to ignore the Aero warning?  Mine just doesn't start.

Can't run the new Beta without having to select an aero theme in Win7Pro 64.  Although I appreciate it's not recommended, is it possible.  I run my laptop pretty minimally

[blur inside selection only?]

Okay, I've just started with Affinity so I'm probably doing something wrong but if I select an area of a bitmap and apply guassian blurr from the effects gallery, the whole image blurs not just inside the selection.  I'm working in the 'draw' persona so it may be different here.
