exact. they need to be purchased by adobe. After all, the goal is to make money. and adobe will make them millionaires. but adobe won't pay until the software works well. With v2 affinity you will not be able to sell. They have to make everything work perfectly.

That sucks, I got excited when I saw v2 earlier today, then I realized it only supports Catalina and up on s, — which I'll never downgrade to, I'm staying in the older macOS 'till my Macs die — so that leaves me with Windows Server RDS which isn't great, then activation which I saw coming when v1 suddenly could connect to your account and now this.
    I'm out.
    Thanks for sharing, though. <3

I don't - for me the Shape Builder Tool (and the support for Footnotes/Endnotes, in Publisher) was much more important!
(I don't have any problem with having variable font support, I just wish people wouldn't push something they want by saying, quite unjustifiably, that "everyone" wants it; a lot of people have no interest in variable fonts!)

The only way to present them in these forums is one thread per problem, anything else doesn't work.

Well now I feel awful.... probably rightly so. We have built up to this release for soooo long and tried to have all bases covered about the launch. In so many meetings I would say things like
"don't forget our forum regulars, they are doing an enormous amount of work on our behalf. We must think about the information that they have and how any changes to our processes will be perceived, and understood".
I am extremely aware of how much time and effort are given "for free" by those who come here week in and week out just to share information and help others. We could not do any of this without them/you and these forums would not work without customer participation. .......and now to have it (correctly) pointed out that we haven't really said that out loud really struck home. We in no way take you for granted, and my comment above was really just trying to calm things down in every thread like this, rather than criticizing those participating in this specific one, and I likely failed to say enough about how everything else done by the regulars is very much appreciated. This thread is really not the place for that (not completely sure where is), but I wanted to respond to your post with a mea culpa.

Having said that, version 2 brings a lot of improvements that alone justify the price in my humble opinion.

    Hi,
A request to the moderators: life is already difficult enough, to also have to continue seeing support forums plagued by brats complaining about their constitutional right to get a higher discount.
Can't these posts be moved to a dedicated area? Maybe the one nearer to the toilet?

Hm… "most" optimized?. Given how many users obviously still misunderstand pixel aligned workflows in Affinity – judging from ever the same postings on the forum – I'm not so sure about that.
Without meaning it pejoratively: in my opinion the Affinity suite is well optimized to be a "jack of all trades", even though "master of none". Being a pretty good "jack of all trades" is a quality attribute in my book.

This was used as an example of the many self contradictory EXAMPLES of a general and common (yes, both) lack of consideration and care in the design of the UI and UX in (you guessed it) design software. The UX of these apps deserves criticism - it's a bigger failing than the lack of features as improving the UI and UX would improve the lives of all users. If you can't see that you've never used well designed apps and are suffering from some form of Stockholm syndrome without realising it.
Further, attempting to refute a serious argument by mischaracterising an example of the symptoms that propagate from the general lack of care and design only makes you look like a pedant without insight into contexts and wholes.
And it's patently clear the OP knows far more about complex and artful print work than you do, so there's no need to attempt to talk down to them, or anyone else. Ironically.

You can enable overprinting for that spot color.
Just to be clear: I'm not trying to convince you that Affinity apps are as capable as Adobe's. Far from it. I'm just saying that if you've decided to use them for whatever reason, you should at least try some helpful workarounds and features that you may not be aware of.

As do many-many others. They're pursuing freedom with the same emotion you just expressed, Kal.
So of course it expresses itself in the forums as the mirage of a better life seems in danger of slipping away altogether.
While I'm in the camp that there's too much emotionally driven stuff happening in the world, I'm not inclined to discount the emotion of frustration in here. It could be the canary in the mine ultimately.
The understandable frustration is why these forums are described as a mess, which they are. Only the Stack Overflow model works as a useful resource IMHO. But Serif are a small business despite millions on their accounts, so they've not had the resource. The few who valiantly give their time in any great quantity helping others in these forums are very much to be admired.
A bit of give n take, slowness to take offence and a calm response to those who seem a bit off key, often because emotion is near the surface, and usually without intention, goes a long way.

That's no problem. Apart from photos, which can use a lot of memory (that starts with using 16bit channels), you can do all kind of print documents in an image editing software. I for example do puzzle illustrations in Photoshop. With A3-Size in at least 300dpi, perhaps CMYK-Mode (I use RGB as long as possible), lots and lots of layers the memory requirements can also get very high. Since clients tend to change their minds about some things, it's always good advise to not flatten layers until the work is really done.
