[10 day trial of Affinity wont start up on Mac 10.7.5]

I'm on a newer version of the OS however I too have had an issue with the download - it paused part way thru & I manually restarted to finish. Upon using the s/w for the first time only some of the icons on the left hand side of the screen worked & then they too stopped so I've uninstalled & am about to start again!

please excuse the question - does the trial version have the same functionality as the one I'd purchase? I ask as I am unable to get any of the retouching brush icons on the left hand side of the screen to actually work! For example if I use the erasing brush I will sometimes see the area I've "marked" using the mouse & on other instances nothing happens! Any useful feedback welcome before I uninstall & start again.
