  1. Hello,
    1.
I do not quite understand what elements in Publisher can add to Assets and what not and where these elements are saved?

    2.
Can I add pictures, because I tried and it was impossible :-)

    3.
I think that you would need to add a white or light gray box with a preview in the Assets palette, preferably with the possibility of determining the size

    I attach a screenshot - you just can't see what's there
in the attachment is a drawing - a vector with transparency

    Greetings to all

  2. Thank you Lagarto for all the hints. Especially with Transform.

I reduced the whole tables and then increased the bottom lines. Works !!! :-) See in the screenshot.
I also made quite a new table and there was no problem. Interesting...
Note that the font in the first cell "Photo" is even larger than in those previous tables.
See also on the cell "Tube diameter Ø" - the smallest possible height.

My goal is to make the headings of all tables in my catalog as equal and of the smallest possible height.

In Adobe InDesign, we numerically specify the height of rows - the Exactly parameter. Then, possibly, the contents of the cell are hiding. You can then change the font size or height of the cells.

    Thanks again for the hints.
    best regards

  3. Thanks for the responses
ok, maybe my english is bad, sorry, this is not my first language.
    maybe again:
in one table I have the first column in which the inscription is rotated 279 degrees - in this table I can not reduce the height of the ABC cells
AND THIS IS MY PROBLEM, I DON'T KNOW WHY IT HAPPENS.
CAN I DO THE WRONG WAY?
AND THERE IS ANY PROGRAM ERROR HERE

the second table does not have this first column - and here I can reduce the height of these ABC cells

I am sending the AP file

  4. Hello all,

maybe it was already the subject, I don't know, maybe you also met with it...
table header, several columns divided horizontally,
in one cell the content is set to Rotate 270 degrees.

    I attach two screenshots
    1. in the first there is this column from the cell where the content has a given Rotation and there I can not set the height of the marked cells / row ABC !!!!
    2. in the second one this column is missing and then you can reduce this value in the ABC columns

as you can see the value of Text Inset = 0

What should I do to reduce the power in row 2 of the header while maintaining 1 column with 270 degrees of rotation?
    Where is the problem?

    Thank you for the hints

  5. Anyone who works a lot on tables will understand :-) It's possible that I don't understand how tables work in Publisher.
When I increase the width of a column, the width of the column next to it decreases - right column exactly.

The width of the whole table is maintained. And on the one hand it's great, but ...

And what do you think about such a solution?
    two options

    1.
when I hang the column width - the rest of the columns on the right just move to the right - keeping their width settings!!!

otherwise you need to expand one column to the right, then the next, etc.

    2.
you could set the width of a specific column and indicate that this value is not to change - then other columns change or move. Is it clear what I mean?

Another use is - the contents of the table cell simply expand the column by moving the one on the right - and their widths are maintained.

    I hope I made it quite clear ... :-)

The current solution - makes it necessary to format these widths every time.

It can also add to the table styles ...

What do you think about these solutions?

  6. Hello,
maybe someone will tell me what's going on here ...
the results can be seen in the preview, but something different in the pdf with the print settings :-)

You can apply effects, but you cannot print them correctly - what are they for in such a program, in which mainly the materials for printing are prepared? That's a question for the Affinity team.

I changed the pdf settings and always got the wrong pdf.
It helps to change the whole image to tiff ... but that's probably not the point.

    Greetings to all

  7. hi,
I'm using .ai and .psd files, exactly the same as in InDesign.
The pdf file for print has 2.3 Mb, it is fine. This is not about an export file - pdf, tiff etc.

It is the weight of Affinity files. I have hundreds of ID files. Multiply their weight 8 times ... if you convert them to Afiinity :-)

But pay attention to the small difference between Affinity files - linked and ambeded. And, of course, for a very large difference in the weight of Affinity and InDesign files, in which, as you know, the files are only as linked.

  8. Can anyone explain two things to me:
    1. why is there a small difference between the Publisher's file weight - one of linked files, the other with embeded files?
    2. Why is there so much weight difference between Affinity files and the file of the same leaflet made in InDesign?

In my opinion, the weight difference is too small.
And the second thing - it's over 8 times heavier file than the InDesign file ...
What will happen with something that in the ID weighs e.g. 200 Mb

  9. Thank you Walt for the hint. Yes, I saw this function. However, the opportunity that I was talking about would be great.
This is a topic related to the PREFLIGHT function. Now we have to control everything ourselves.
In small production, this is not a problem, but in the case of a large catalog - for example  100 pages, many photos, drawings etc.
This is becoming a very serious problem. The effects of oversight can be serious.

  10. Thank you all for your answers and suggestions.

"I'm afraid there's no way to do this currently other than checking the Layers panel as you have been done. Currently right-clicking the object and selecting Find in Layers Panel doesn't work for locked objects. I will pass this to the dev team."

That's what I was asking about in my question.

I think that the topic is connected with independent layers - each large work will have a large number of layers, so searching for the blocked one is a big waste of time.

    Thanks,
I wish you good luck and perseverance to our dev team
