Heres Johnny got a reaction from davemac2015 in Designer & Photo | Rotate gradient fill
I can easily rotate gradients when I'm creating them with the Gradient tool. However, when using a gradient fill on an object, I have to switch to the Gradient tool or rotate the entire object in order to set the gradient at a desired angle.

I would love to have the ability to rotate gradients inside the gradient fill menu.

I know this is an old request, but I think an important one. Or is there any way to fix thid behaviour? Thank you.

It would be great if both Affinity Designer and Photo had the ability to export CSS, LESS and SASS code similar to what this photoshop plugin does:

This would be great for web developers and designers alike.

Select a piece of text, right click, "Copy CSS". This would be awesome.

Same for selected primitives, like a rectangle with rounded corners, getting background color, border, border-radius, width and height.

Heres Johnny got a reaction from ARTUnip in Designer & Photo | Snap while Resizing objects
I do lots of Web and UI design and normally use rectangles for measurements. In Illustrator I insert a rectangle, same width and height as the artboard or a smaller area I'm working in, then grab one of it sides and drag to its midpoint to cut it in half. Illustrator snaps to objects' midpoints so that I know I'm exactly at its half.

Can we get the same for Designer? Currently I have to type "50%" into the transform window which in a larger project becomes a bit tedious.

Heres Johnny got a reaction from tobi.b in Both apps | Fine-tuning w/ modifier keys
Could you please add modifier keys for both: (1) fine-tuning and (2) selecting precise absolute values while using knobs and sliders?

*(1) Holding a modifier key (e.g. CTRL + SHIFT) vastly extends the mouse range so that it's easy to pick a value between, say, 10.2px and 10.3px.

*(2) Holding a modifier key (e.g. CTRL) - similar to fine-tuning, but only limited to absolute values, as in 1, 2, 3, 4 and no decimals.

I often use such modifier keys in music production software, but it translates so well into graphic design applications.

No, you can't adjust multiple control handles simultaneously, but what you can do is adjust one of the pair and then hold down the Shift key while adjusting the other one. When the distances are the same, you get a little line across each of the lines that join the control handles to the node.

Heres Johnny reacted to Koutchinski in [AD] Shape Builder Tool
    Hey guys,

There is actually only one thing missing for me in AD. But thats a big one, especially as it speed up my process immensly since it was introduced in AI. I'm talking about the notorious Shape builder tool. Of course you could make something else, that increases the speed of boolean operations. :-) (idk, shortcuts maybe?)

    Thank you in advance,
    Felix

Heres Johnny reacted to nonresidentalien in [ADe] Align/distribute to key object: desperately needed for Scientists
    Hi guys,

I have recently switched my whole research group from using AI to using Affinity Designer. However, the thing that every single user heavily complained about, and that really limits the utility of AffinityDesigner for us, is the lack of an option to select a key or reference object that stays put during alignment and distribution operations.

This is very crucial for the preparation of scientific data plots where one really cannot have the data points shifting around when aligning them to their labels. It would also be very helpful for preparing multi-paneled figure etc.

Also, while at it, a 'select same color/stroke/fill/...' feature would be great, and the eyedropper tool could use some attention (eg. for text and vector objects)

Please make these available, and I will promise, that there will be a landslide of scientists moving away from their current overpriced rental software to using Affinity Designer

    Thanks

    Lars

Heres Johnny got a reaction from Hofnaar in Photo | Crop tool - modifier keys
Use a modifier key while dragging one of the handles to proportionally move the opposite handle of the crop overlay, just like in Photoshop. Similarly to how scaling objects works in Affinity Designer, where you press and hold CTRL to scale the object in opposite directions, or CTRL+SHIFT to scale the whole object proportionally. Also, holding just SHIFT to make cropping more precise is currently not an option either.

I love Affinity Photo, but I just can't get used to not having some basic functionality I'm used to from Photoshop.

    (1) Using a modifier key to toggle Hide/Show all other layers (except for the one I'm clicking). This is especially useful if I want to quickly A/B the before and afer.

    (2) Click and drag/slide up and down the check boxes in order to quickly Hide/Show multiple layers.

Heres Johnny got a reaction from TEcHNOpls in Photo | Crop tool - straightening
While using the Straighten tool, I have no problems with select the starting point - I can see where I'm clicking within the little crosshair. However, selecting the end point while dragging the straightening ruler is a bit harder, since there's a circle/node within the crosshair which obstructs the view and limits precision. Would be much easier without that node (or make it a single pixel dot?)

Organized designer has all text sizes preconsidered and applied as styles... but I regularly find myself needing to size everything up a little. Or down.

Group-transform the size of all selected text (no matter what fonts, sizes, etc). A parameter in the Character window to increase or decrease size of all this text by the same amount - just as if I was to scale the selected text with a bounding box.

We plan to do this for Artistic text in 1.6. It's a bit weird if the text begins or ends with blank lines, but it makes the text more artistic, more like a graphic.

We also plan to do this for Frame text in 1.6.
