Heres Johnny got a reaction from AndRo Marian in Remove duplication from [ALT]
Currently if we hold [CTRL] and drag an object, Affinity will drag a copy of that object. Great.
Why the need for the exact same behavior with the [ALT] modifier key? It is often in conflict with temporarily overriding snapping. We are forced to move an object a little bit first before being able to press and hold [ALT] to simply override snapping. Otherwise, it creates a duplicate of the selected object.
Please fix this. Let [CTRL] stay for duplication, and [ALT] for overriding snapping (if active).

By a fixed amount. That's the whole purpose of overriding snapping to adjust stuff freely and quickly.

Yes, the current behavior is wrong, and contrary to what is stated in the Status bar. Ctrl has ensure duplication of the object, and Alt has only turn off snapping. The fact that when Alt is pressed before selecting the mouse object, and not after selecting when it works properly, is the wrong behavior - Alt has nothing to duplicate the object.

In Illustrator I could force an existing object to snap to the grid by selecting it and enabling "Align to pixel grid" in the Transform box.

Is there currently a way to do the same in Affinity Designer?

"Force pixel alignment" in the snap menu only seems to work for creating new objects, not automatically snapping existing nodes to their nearest grid lines.

Like in Photoshop - render layer effects (like Outer Shadow) to a seperate raster/pixel layer.

Thought I'd give you a glimpse of some of the features that will be coming in 1.7.

Please note - this thread is only for discussing the features detailed here.  Postings related to other feature requests should be posted on their own thread (else they will get deleted from this thread).

We have spent considerable time overhauling the internals of some of our main tools.  It's been a labour of love, but it's going to open up greater possibilities for our core tool set.

    The core tools are:
    - Move tool
    - Pen tool
    - Node tool
    - Shape creation tools
    - Text tools
    - Fill and Transparency tools
    - Place Image tool
    - Vector Crop tool

So, what improvements can be expected?

    - Advanced grid editing on spread (move the grid origin and edit it's axis with a handy new widget, with full snapping of course)
    - Guides can be created and moved in all the core tools, plus a toggle to turn guide editing off
    - Move the artboard ruler origin (with editing toggle)
    - Create objects and shapes into an arbitrary grid
    - Rotate and flip objects in grid planes (great for people working in isometric), plus an option to rotate shapes in plane using the Move tool
    - The Move tool will now allow you to cycle though selection boxes, including regular boxes and grid plane aligned boxes
    - Snapping performance improvements

That is the closest we have to "automatic", it's semi-automatic. You are told of the patch's existence and you choose when it is convenient to update. OK means I have seen this but I want to use the program and will update later. Download will take you through a redirect service (go.seriflabs.com I believe) to our updates page. The redirect service is for futureproofing but you will end up on the affinity.store updates page.

Heres Johnny got a reaction from predick in Designer | Expand Stroke issue
Here's the explanation to the attached screenshots:
    1. I created a simple rounded rectangle, 20x20 px, snapped to the pixel grid, with a corner radius of 2px and a stroke (aligned to inside) of 1px.
    2. I expanded the stroke, which changed the nodes and made the rounded rectangle...round – but not just its corners.
I have to manually convert nodes to sharp to fix that (NOT shown in the image), which is rather tedious, and I'm pretty sure that's a bug.
    3. Screenshot #3 is the same as #2, only zoomed in.
Is it a known problem? Thanks.

Heres Johnny reacted to forelimbs in Licensing - a barrier to being truly cross-platform
One license across both platforms would be great! I use both Windows and macOS for work, and switch between frequently.

Just to provide an example of how another company / application approached this problem:

I purchased the excellent 1password software by AgileBits from the Mac App Store. Their policy at the time was to give a 50% discount code for a Windows license if you emailed customer support and attached a copy of your Mac App Store receipt. I took advantage of this policy, and appreciated the discount.

    WANT!
Using a MacBook, Shift+F5 is actually FN+SHIFT+F5 which is a bit of finger yoga.
Also adds a step dealing with the fill popup.

A quick ⌘+DELETE would be much appreciated.

Heres Johnny got a reaction from davemac2015 in Designer & Photo | Rotate gradient fill
I can easily rotate gradients when I'm creating them with the Gradient tool. However, when using a gradient fill on an object, I have to switch to the Gradient tool or rotate the entire object in order to set the gradient at a desired angle.

I would love to have the ability to rotate gradients inside the gradient fill menu.
