We've been trying all morning on a plethora of devices however we haven't been able to reproduce this yet. We're struggling to find similar hardware. I have made the developers aware and the rest of the team will be looking out for this. If I hear anything or need anything, I will let you know—thanks.

Today, The glitch occurred when I applied a gaussian blur to pixel layer. It was impossible to guess the modification. Disabling metal acceleration will prevent those glitches, though. Anything else I can do? Is it a graphic card issue?

    Hey howdytom,

Can you do a screen recording at all? This looks slightly different to me. Also, can we have the file or a test file?

Also, can you provide your system specs please?

@Chris B The glitch is totally random. It's happening with Live Filters enabled. When I add a new curve layer and zoom in and out 10 times, everything looks good. However next time the glitch shows up again. :42_confused:

  3. @Patrick Connor Wow. That is an impressive bugfix speed! Thank you!

I have upgraded to 1.10.4. I'm sorry to confirm that the glitch effect while zoom in/out still shows up. It is happening randomly on white background, type faces, embedded PNGs or rectangle color boxes.

Update: It is occurring with Live Filter Layers. I have applied a Unsharp Mask filter to an image. When I disable the Live Filter, everything looks good. Are you able to reproduce this?

  4. Affinity Photo 1.10.1 shows random black-white background distortion when I apply a Gaussian Blur to a PNG with alpha mask. I have attached a screen recording. It's happening on macOS 10.14.6, Affinity Photo 1.10.1

    Steps to reproduce the behavior:

    1. Take a screenshot in macOS
    2. Open that screenshot.png in Affinity Photo
    3. Add Gaussian Blur and change the radius to more 50px

  5. Thanks for sharing. Indeed PDF-XChange Editor Plus ships with some interesting features. It's Windows only, though. As already pointed out PDF-XChange Editor Plus is an PDF-Editor and PDF Viewer for simple office tasks. It's not intended for prepress.

We should not be required to use or purchase prepress tools to check that our PDF exports are ok.

Kind of strange argument. Pre-flighting is a essential step in prepress. It reduces costs and minimises undesired results. For now, I will stick with Acrobat Pro.

For simpler PDF checks things like PDF Checkpoint and the like are maybe a much cheaper alternate, though however I never tried that one out so far and thus can't say anything about it's capabilities.

With a Acrobat Pro background PDF Checkpoint is not a serious replacement. It's missing so many basic features e.g, PDF/X Output Intents, PDF conversion settings.

I use it as I think was mentioned earlier in this thread. The one main difference between it and Acrobat is pdfToolbox cannot edit text.

callas is who licenses the preflight goodies to Adobe, so that will be familiar to you. And it does do some things that Acrobat doesn't do, including imposition, etc.

Thank you. Sounds good to me.

Never understand, why people want software, with which they earn their living, for no money …

Totally agree. Even Adobe's Acrobat Pro 2017 single licence is within the same $500 price range.
