  1. You can also use the Image Capture app to determine which (if any) app opens when you connect your camera or SD card to your Mac. (The Image Capture app is in the Applications folder.)

     

    Connect the device to your Mac & if necessary launch Image Capture. It should show up in the DEVICES section on the left of the app window. Select it, click the "Show Hide button" in the lower-left corner of the window, click the “Connecting this device opens” pop-up menu & select "No application" (or any other app listed if you prefer one of them).

     

    Some things to be aware of:

    • Nothing is saved until/unless you import them, regardless of the settings.

    • There is an option to delete the items from the device after importing them.

    • If you reformat the SD card, if you connect it directly to your Mac it is seen as a new device so you will need to check/reset the 'opens' options again each time you do this.

    • You only need to set the 'opens' option once if you leave the SD card in the camera & connect it to your Mac.
