When creating a new Stack, Focus Merge, HDR Merge, or Panorama the user is prompted to add files to the dialog. When add is clicked, the user is brought to a cloud storage file selection.

The first issue is that when using these features, there is no way to add images that are already on the iPad. Some way to add images from local storage needs to be added. These features use a lot of images and it is a big time and bandwidth waste to use cloud storage only for these.

Second issue, all these features require selecting multiple images, but the dialog only allows selecting one image at a time. This is especially bad because it is cloud storage. A typical usage of these features god like this, "Click add; Select cloud storage service(it always defaults to iCloud); Navigate through a couple folders; Select an image; Wait for the image to load form cloud storage; Get kicked back to the file list dialog; REPEAT 100 MORE TIMES"

I could maybe deal with this if it was only the HDR feature that had this behavior since you are only selecting 3-5 images most of the time using that. But the Focus Merge, Stack, and Panorama features are all likely to use 10 or more images. Focus merging I typically have 50-250 images I have to deal with.

Adding a select all files, or allowing the user to select folders would greatly help. For instance, the google drive app has a select all command in the top right.

I understand that some of these issues might be softened by implementing drag and drop in iOS11, but it will not full solve the problem. Imagine selecting 50 images for a Panorama or Focus Merge with the drag and drop implementation, vs tapping a single button. It is a big difference.

I hope these issues get sorted, because otherwise those features appear to work pretty well. Though I haven't been able to test them a lot, because I want to keep my hair  ;)

FANTASTIC! So fast with the import raw files from photos update, now I can finally start trying out the app!

I completely agree, you use the undo button ALL the time. It should be where your left thumb is. (Or right thumb in left hand mode)

Firstly, excellent job on the app.  The best I've ever used and it's given me another use for my iPad other than being a kindle.

This really should have been a day one feature though.  I want to use this out and about, so today I bought the camera connection kit but disappointed that Photo can't import raw from iOS photos.  Other apps can so it's not an iOS API limitation.

I'm curious to know why it's not a day one feature, some technical reason or simply overlooked?

    +1 we need this

I would also like to see this option. As of now with RAW photos, I still need a laptop or desktop to get the photos to cloud storage before I can edit on my iPad. The goal is to eliminate the need of a laptop or desktop.

I have that exact same workflow. It's very nice for on the go use. You usually don't have a solid internet connection when traveling and you certainly don't have a computer with you to import files to and then upload them to the cloud to then be able to import the files into affinity, it's a really strange decision to force people to sync files to the cloud to be able to edit them when this app is made for people who are on the go. If you have a connection that's solid enough to upload a full days shoot of raw files then you're probably not on the go at all. Being able to do everything offline is essential and therefore I'm forced to stick with my Lightroom mobile workflow as of now. I don't have to rely on fast internet and other devices than the iPad. I guess I could import the files to my iPad, then send them to the cloud from the iPad and then import them from there but that still requires a fast internet connection which is impossible to come by when traveling and requires an extra step which is very unnecessary.

Another thing I enjoy with Lightroom that's not available in affinity photo is the ability to import several photos at once, that's a really important feature when shooting brackets to create hdrs.

I've emailed the support about this feature and they said that they've flagged it as a "to do" but have no ETA.
I'm just so confused about this decision. They make an app for on the go use and then render using it on the go impossible.

Right hand is always holding the pencil, and left hand is free. It will be much more convenient if the undo button is on the left side.

I bought an iPad Pro for cartoon drawing, but most importantly photo editing on the go. I have been trying to push Adobe into making an iPad (Pro) version of PhotoShop CC since the iPad Pro came out. The hardware is absolutely fast enough, but they do not seem to listen. ...And then I discovered your app this morning! Instant buy!

WOW! Thanks for this magnificent app! Impressed. You proof it is possible to run Pro level photo editing software, with a great and easy to use user interface, on the iPad (Pro).

This app has only one single, but VERY BIG CON for me. You can't import RAW photos from the Photo Library. I can only import Photos on my iPad from my SDcard into the Photo Library. If Affinity Photo could import RAW photos from the iPads Photo Library, I can use my iPad as only photo editing hardware, even when I am out and about and when there is no WiFi or 4G around. It can be done! Lightroom Mobile and Snapseed are proof it is possible to do this. If you make this possible, you'll make this great app LEGENDARY. ...And you release me from the Adobe prison!

That's it. Now I'll go back to learning all the ins and outs of this app... See you later.

One more vote for direct RAW import from the Photos library. I congratulate you for developing this full featured editing app and I am enticed to use it. I presently utilize LR mobile and love the ability to go back and forth between my iPad Pro (256GB) and my desktop. I can download raw files to my iPad, import the raw files directly from Photos, do editing in LR Mobile and then continue editing on the desktop because certain edit features are still not available on LR Mobile. Affinity for IPad potentially eliminates having to go to the desktop. But the inability to bring in raw photos directly from iPad Photos is a big disappointment for me.

It must be possible as I'm using Google's Snapseed app (Snapseed by Google, Inc.
https://appsto.re/gb/B0umA.i)to edit raw files I import into Photo Library via the camera connection kit.

I agree that direct import from the kit would work equally as well, but not sure if that is possible.

To create a pure iPad workflow there needs to be the ability to import RAW files directly from the Photo library on the iPad, not have to use a computer to upload RAW files to a cloud drive first.

I know that this is possible as this is a feature I already use with Snapseed.

Wouldn't it make sense to have the adjustment buttons to the left where to toolbar currently resides to have easy access with your thumb? Or do you guys not hold your tablets with the left hand while painting with the right? That way you could choose w=tools with the pen and then only have your left thumb for the adjustments, like brush size etc. Photoshop fix is set up in this manner and it works really well. Sadly photoshop fix has nothing on a fully fledged affinity on the go. :)

Also, directly importing raw files from the photos app and then saving them to camera roll when you're done isn't working, why?
In the current state of the app it's not possible to have an offline workflow which makes this app completely useless when traveling.
    Thoughts on this?

Edit: apparently saving to camera roll does work, sorry about that.

Alright. I mean, just a quick fix for importing raw files from you photo library is at least a bare minimum.Importing several files at once is a really nice to have and seems like an absolute basic functionality but at least it's not making the app useless, I literally can't use it without being able to import and export files locally. I.e importing raw files and exporting jpegs locally, since I don't have a strong enough internet connection when on the go.
I'm sure I can't be the only one.

I just started a two week vacation and I'm really hoping this is a quick fix because that would make my trip a whole lot nicer.
Lightroom mobile can only do so much but it's my only option right now.
