So to clarify the steps for you are as simple as: File > New File > Save As File > Save As > Overwrite and then crash? Can you attach the crash report? Might be a clue there

That does and is very similar to a recipe I logged whilst investigating this. I think it's all related but still am wanting to try reproduce this crash on save issue from scratch that I've seen from a couple of people encounter

So I was missing the fonts being used, but after sourcing them (Bookmania from Adobe, Trajan from here) I'm still unable to replicate it despite performing the same steps as in the video. Could you clarify where you sourced these fonts incase we have different versions? Or if possible open up the DocX file and just replace all the font with Arial and let me know if you still get the crash? Should hopefully atleast us narrow down why I can't reproduce it at the moment. Thanks!

That lines with my suspicions and I'll gather more info from other threads and be looking around that area to see if I can reproduce it for the developers. Just to confirm, you re linked every single image, so there was no problem image as such?

That file opens alright for me here, I suspect it might be the missing images that I don't have that are the cause (we have a few reports of something like this happening which we are currently investigating) Can you upload all the linked images to the same place? If I can find it which one is causing the issue it might help us get to the bottom of what's happening here. Thanks

If you could that would be a help, I'm fairly certain i'm performing the same steps as you and it inserts fine. Out of curiosity though, if you have the caret inside the text frame you place and do File > Place does it still crash? (If you File > Place with the text caret inside a text frame it should just auto place inside that frame and not involve the extra click you describe) Thanks

Hi Chris, I've had a go at reproducing this following your steps but am struggling to reproduce the crash at the moment. I'm probably just misinterpreting a step, is there any chance you could create a short video of you following the steps? Thanks!

It might be one of the more recent ones you added, so you could just upload them, but I suspect one of the images might be the cause (this is similar to the other thread you posted in), so if you figure out which one it is let us know, or let me know if you have uploaded some and i'll see if I can reproduce it. Hi PJM, Thanks for letting us know, there was a bug in the beta where an image could essentially become corrupt, and I wonder if that was the issue depending on how old the file was. Either way if this happen again let us know.

Hi @RoyalBulwell Do you still have this issue? Are you sure you can't click it and it doesn't just look disabled? Can you let me know what MacOS you are on? This isn't something i've heard of before! Also, nice team you support! Shame about last season! (we are based in Nottingham)

Hi Jonopen, This should just be using the e-mail that you entered in with your license key when installing the application. I have just tested this and we strip out the underscore character in that dialog, which I'll log. We will still be using the correct e-mail address however, it's purely a visual thing. Hi postmadesign, I've nudged the report I made for you during the beta for this. I've had a quick look and can't see any easy way to work around this for now without editing what is pasted in afterwards, apologies.

I can't reproduce this on 10.12 at the moment, it seems to overwrite the last save fine.

Hi @Addr, So i've been looking into this area, as this crash whilst saving is something we are aware of. I've just logged a few issues whilst looking into this, including a crash when opening a file that's had this done to it, but I am still struggling to get the exact recipe for the crash on save issue. Can you replicate the crash on save from scratch on a new document? If so can you let me know what steps you are taking? Thanks

Hi bdonovanw, Publisher defiinitely shouldn't be crashing in this case (or any case!) Some files i've tested with haven't resulted in a crash, and the best I've been able to replicate here is a hang, which I believe we are already aware of. Is it possible for you to attach the DocX file you are placing? You can upload it here if you'd prefer to keep it private.

No direct fix was made from what I can tell, but there have been some improvements around this area. We are still looking to improve memory usage on fairly complex documents which should hopefully further improve this. If you are still getting constant crashes in the release build let me know though.
