@scuddriver That file is crashing for me on both Mac and Windows, and it looks different to the earlier crash, but I'm not getting a crash report generated on Windows so it's hard to say exactly. I've passed it over to the developers. @Kuno If you'd like to upload your file here I'll take a look and see if it was effected by the original issue discovered in this thread

I can't see any obvious reason why that's happening, but I can reproduce it and have logged it!

Hi @osang, There shouldn't be any issues for Publisher (I've just double checked and have no issues creating a new document in Yosemite). Do you get a crash report you can share with us?

View > Studio > Find and Replace will disable/enable it If it is ticked in there it should be visible, and by default is docked next to pages as you mention

Thanks, we have this reproduced internally and logged. Restarting the app should correct the behaviour, and from our testing it only happens when the studio is undocked and "moved" around quite alot

That option can be altered by clicking the eye on the screenshot, which toggles showing overflowing content and not, if you toggle it after dragging out the frame I assume you get no crash? Interesting it doesn't crash if you aren't trying to place into an existing frame though (workaround for now I guess). It does give us a bit more to go on. Have you changed any settings in the app preferences away from default? I would ask that maybe you soft reset the app but you will lose any shortcuts or presets etc (like the page preset you use), if you can hold CTRL whilst running the app i'm interested if you get any other results. As far as I can see, otherwise my setup is very similar to yours so I'm still intrigued why I can't reproduce this.

How is your document set up when doing this? If I have a facing page document and overflowing text on the first page and autoflow it autoflows to both left/right pages

This is the way our flyouts have always been designed, compared to the studio panels. I do agree this could be alot better to use and have logged an issue relating to it

Hi Huthi, Welcome to the forums! You aren't the first person to suggest this, there is a feature requests part to this forum and this is worth adding there! Regarding the WMF, I can reproduce what you describe, it seems to silently fail on that WMF. I can't see anything obvious as to why, but I've logged it for the developers to look into Thanks for reporting this

As mentioned if they are high res images and your setup isn't the newest then I would expect some long export times, but 30minutes is quite a long time! If you can embed or send all the images with the afpub file and upload it here I can export it on some machines here and see what sort of times we get. I've exported some 200page documents with an image or two on each page and not had the export take longer than a minute. Edit: Also if you are exporting to certain pdf settings let me know!

The above dropbox link is only viewable internally and the file would only be used to testing purposes, but I understand if there are reasons it can't be shared, it just makes looking into this a lot harder. We do receive reports if it is set to share them, but if you attach it here (they can be found at %appdata%\Affinity\Publisher\1.0\CrashReports) I can have a quick look at the report and might be able to indentify if it is a crash we are aware of (we have seen a few files crash on open).

So we do have this issue logged, although the only way I can reproduce it at the moment is by undocking the tab and "shaking" the studio around, moving it outside the app. This causes it to draw incorrectly. You are right and app restart does seem to fix it.

Does it matter what you paste in? Is it any paste that causes it? Does the happen when you click OK after pasting, or just after pasting?

Thanks I can see that, seems to only happen on Mac when importing from Word. I'll log this, you could also just try inserting the DocX straight into a text frame with File > Place

I've seen another report of this, can you let me know what MacOS you are on?

@JM-Photo Some changes are still being made in this area, but most linked image file types shouldn't be increasing the publisher file size too much, we are aware however that PDF/embedded affinity files can still cause large publisher file sizes when linked
