If you are not using a specific ICC profile, you can exclude it from the export (uncheck the button that peeks out at the bottom of the screenshot).

The central pixel is placed exactly on one pixel of the document at zero degrees. The left and right are copies and rotated and therefore are not on the grid.

Since PE is primarily a DAM (with basic editing functions that are more than sufficient for many users), the comparison with APhoto is difficult, because it has no DAM functions, but the editing functions are much better. So you have to specify whether editing functions or DAM functions are important to you.

Pšenda got a reaction from viterzbayraku in Interface improvement for Stroke option in AD
Personally, I think that the stroke style (dashed line, vector brush) is very useful - and should remain in the context toolbar.

It's a pity that the displayed stroke width value is dead/inactive and cannot be edited directly (for example, using mouse scroll as with other editing fields).

Since stroke width is set most often, direct editing in the context toolbar would certainly be beneficial.

Pšenda reacted to Fritz_H in 2.1 Offer? nope, still not interested...
For a short time I was tempted to purchase the upgrade from 1.x to 2.1. but having seen all those complaints about very very basic features being broken or still missing completely: nope, sorry.
I am not asking for AI-stuff but basics like variable fonts support or an option to set the color of every guide - perhaps even an algorithm that automatically finds a color that differs from all/most colors the guide crosses on the screen..?
Actually I am not asking for any new features but having the UI completely redesigned to meet state of the art usability requirements.
But as it seems, the Brits will prefer to add some more "nobody asked for"-filters.
    sad story.

Just saying that they are “too small” probably isn’t enough to tell anyone what you actually want.
If you can give a visual mock-up which shows them at the size you want them to be, without reference to other software which other forums members might not use, then that would be useful to show people what you are suggesting.

I have the same problem with the Shape group, which in APhoto contains a Rectangle and an Ellipse Tool, but not in ADesigner (here they are separately).

The ability to create custom groups would "fix" it (for my needs, where I don't want to take up valuable space on the Tools panel with two more buttons).

You need to ensure that the original "pixel perfect" images are "pixel perfect" even after moving (Force pixel alignment setting and Move by whole pixels disabling) and after resizing (2x, 3x). Shifting or resizing by a non-integer part will result in blurring because the original pixel has to be split/blurred into multiple pixels.

    Hello Serif.
I hope we could be able to combine tools as we like in a future version. Currently we can only have combined tools if the program has the combination predefined.
Inside the pink box there are examples of tools with combinations and without combinations. Inside APhoto 2.1 it isn't possible to have the measure and area tools combined.

This is possible inside ADesigner 2.x.

My interest came from wanting these two tools combined inside Affinity Photo 2.1, but I think it would be great to have the general flexibility of combining tools however we like, I like a clutter free space and hiding multiple tools on the same tile would be great.

Please respect the context in the context menu for nodes.
If the node type is Sharp, then the command "Convert to Sharp" should not be enabled, because it does not make sense and choosing the command will do nothing - therefore the item should be disabled.

If the node type is Smooth, then the command "Convert to Smooth" should not be enabled, because it does not make sense and choosing the command will do nothing - therefore the item should be disabled.

    Likewise for Smart.
Commands for manipulating individual Nodes (Convert to ...) could be separated by a delimiter from commands for manipulating with the Curve.
Although it is enough to press Delete to delete the selected Node, the Delete Node item in the context menu would also be useful.

Pšenda got a reaction from Beniamino in My work just went poof! - "Save failed because access to the file was lost"
From the beginning of the numerous occurrences of corruption and data loss, it is evident that the proposed architecture of files and working with them is not optimal (perhaps fast, but definitely not safe and definitely not efficient in terms of file size). Therefore, I personally assumed that the V2 version would bring some major change in the file format, because the frequency of negative experiences and the declared incompatibility with V1 directly encouraged it. Unfortunately nothing.

Yes, it is still possible to adjust the properties - color, but compared to V1, it is also possible to set the color for differentiation in the Layers panel for all layers/objects, not only for Layers.

Edit: I looked in V1 now, and the coloring option in the Layers panel was already added in V1. But that certainly wasn't possible in the beginning.

Pšenda got a reaction from Wayne Burrows in A question about Studio Link
The wording about the "limited" version is probably not entirely correct, because Photo persona in APublisher is functionally identical to Photo persona in APhoto. The difference between the Photo persona in APublisher, when the "functions" of the Photo persona in APhoto are made available, and Edit in Photo... is that when Edit in, the APhoto application is completely switched/launched, and thus its Personas is also made available and even her Help*).
The Photo persona in APublisher is thus definitely better functionally equipped than the Pixel persona in ADesigner. However, if the user does not have the APhoto application, the Designer persona in APublisher will make all vector functions available to him, but not the raster/pixel ones from Pixel persona (for this he has no choice but to use the Edit In Designer command).
*) I think it would be good if, when using the Photo/Designer persona in APublisher, the relevant Help section was also made available with a description of the relevant tools.

The benefits of "Layer" layers become evident when you turn off the "edit all layers" icon at the bottom left of the layers pallet, which is usually on by default.

If you separate your artwork into "Layers" (noted by the blue lines) - and turn off the "Edit all layers" function. It locks EVERYTHING in your entire art piece EXCEPT all objects within the currently selected layer. So if you have a super complicated vector going and you just want to edit all the content and none of the background, you would separate 2 layers, content and background, and turn OFF "edit all layers", select the content layer in the layers pallet, then you have full control to edit only the objects you want to.
It's easier and more convenient than grouping and locking all of your objects, since those steps would likely need to be undone later.

Everything listed in the Layers Panel is a layer.
Layer layers, as explained above, are just one (special) type of layer.

I'm still feeling my way around everything, so anytime a question pops into my head as I'm working on a project, I see if I'm able to find an answer for it over here and if I don't come across one within a previously posted question, I pose the question myself. I just used 'Pixel Persona' only as an example of a 'sub' persona, that's all. BUT... Now that i know that it's a like a limited version of APhoto, I will remember that for future reference.
This software is literally blowing my mind with all of the functionality & features that's intertwined within it. I purchased the suite around the beginning of the year and just really started digging into it about a couple of months ago, so I am constantly learning new things every single day. I knew absolutely Zero about Affinity before then and now I have completed a couple of very detailed laden projects - and I have only scratched the surface of what the whole suite has to offer.
So you all have answered my question, and then some.
    Thank You

But this will not enable what the OP expected - i.e. making available all sub Personas of the ADesigner application, i.e. Pixel and Export Persona. So it's clear that the OP didn't understand the basic difference between Edit in..., when you physically switch to the second application including all its properties and functions (so the second application starts), and StudioLink, when only the functions of ADesigner and APhoto are made available directly in APublisher. The mentioned sub Personas (Pixel, Export, Liquify, Develop, Tone) are not directly accessible in the APublisher application.
So clicking on Photo Persona will not "exactly" do what the OP expected (availability of Pixel Persona), but only a replacement - because the functions in Photo Persona contain and extend the functions in the requested Pixel Persona.

Pšenda got a reaction from PaulEC in Expand stroke with arrowheads ? Possible ?
The proposals and benefits of using the Inner/Outer option for curves have been discussed and proposed several times on the forum, but in the current concept of Affinity they are completely irrelevant - and it is therefore a bug (of the design) that these options are not disabled and it is therefore possible to select them (although they do not have no meaning). The fact that these completely meaningless (actually unused) curve parameters cause another problem with the Expand command is only a consequence of this faulty design.

Pšenda got a reaction from Wayne Burrows in A question about Studio Link
By using StudioLink (as opposed to fully switching to another application using Edit In...), only the basic functionalities of the given application will be made available, not their Personas (e.g. Export persona).
