Pšenda got a reaction from PaulEC in Legacy file refuses to open
Just out of interest - do you also find the "Close" button completely inappropriate for this type of dialogue?
Close of what? - closing the V2 app because apparently the wrong version is running? closing the currently open document to avoid accidentally making it unavailable for V1? or just close the dialog?
Why can't there be a standard OK, that is, an expression of agreement with the content and understanding of the message in the dialog, such as in the following dialog?!
And the fact that Affinity does not distinguish the seriousness of the message using the classic Error/Warning/Info/Question icons is also very awkward.

Pšenda got a reaction from true_blue1878 in How to make a cool looking ghost trail?
If the embedded image was supposed to be an example of what you want to achieve, I guess I misunderstood.
But according to the description, I would try a shifted copy of the flag + Motion blur, or Gradient, and decrease the Opacity.

The answer is still the same - Stroke panel.

Pšenda reacted to Dan C in Dutch version of Affinity Photo 1/2. For when?
Serif is not a publicly traded company, so this is not possible.
Serif have never said this, and I'm not entirely sure what's lead you to this conclusion - but I'm sorry to hear you feel this way.
We have previously confirmed that we have no plans for additional UI languages at this time, and as I understand it this is still the case currently.
This thread has therefore been answered, it's Serifs decision as to which languages we support and we may look to add more languages in the future, but as above this is not something we're currently working on.
We ask our users not to speculate on our reasoning for this further, as this is simply conjecture.

Serif is geen beursgenoteerd bedrijf, dus dit is niet mogelijk.
Nederlanders zijn dus minder dan de Duitsers, Fransen en Italianen.
It's discriminatory

Pšenda reacted to PaulEC in Dutch version of Affinity Photo 1/2. For when?
No, I just use their software, and prefer Serif's limited resources to be used to improve Affinity for the benefit of all users, rather than just for the benefit of a very limited group!

Pšenda reacted to LondonSquirrel in Dutch version of Affinity Photo 1/2. For when?
I can read perfectly well.
Let me quote you:
They could have reached out to several regular forum members for the translations.(giving away an extra discount for an upcoming version or beta before public to make it worth the effort with an NDA) You would invite forum members to do the translations, and give them a discount on an already low-priced product. I gave some figures because evidently you have not thought through your idea. Your suggestion of offering a discounts sounds good, until you realise that translation does not take 5 minutes. It could take many hours, indeed it probably would. So the value the forum non-professional translators would be getting is how much? Not much at all.

Pšenda got a reaction from Megnusin in Visible gap between adjacent shapes
The problem is in the contact of two edges drawn with antialiasing, when there will always be some shining of the background. The solution is a non-zero line thickness to overlap the edges, which is a common technique used in other graphics programs.

Pšenda reacted to PaulEC in Dutch version of Affinity Photo 1/2. For when?
Affinity does support French and German! Also many people speak English (or one of the other languages that Affinity supports) as a second Language.
I appreciate that everyone who uses Affinity software would like to have a version in their own, first, language, but there are over 7000 languages, Affinity can't support all of them! There has to be a line somewhere and there seem to be enough problems just getting the translations right for the languages already supported. It isn't just a case of translating a language once, each version needs to be updated whenever there are any changes.
There are also a couple of other important points. Serif is quite small, with less available resources than some other software companies. Any resources used to support more languages would inevitably impact other development of the software. Also, when it comes to selling products the number of people who speak any particular language is not really that important; What matters is the number of people who will actually buy the product.

Pšenda got a reaction from NotMyFault in White lines between shapes Affinity Designer
Object position and size must be "pixel" perfect, not "mm" perfect.
vs
Edit: try change document unit to pixels (in Document setup, or top/left corner on Ruler).

You could add a new category "books" and add your own presets.
The button is the second left below the presets sidebar

Pšenda got a reaction from David in Яuislip in Import photos in Affinity Photo - chronological order
I don't think it's "basic stuff" for a photo editor, maybe for a DAM (which APhoto isn't).
What time do you want to sort it by? By the time of the file (could be totally out), or by any of the times in the EXIF (date/time original, create date, modify date), so parsing the data in the files is required?

Pšenda got a reaction from GarryP in Drawings bigger than the document size
But keep in mind that for objects outside the boundaries of the document, you may have a problem with their export. So it is always better for the document to include the entire sketched area.

Pšenda got a reaction from RNKLN in Feature Request : Shrink interface
What is the benefit of shrinking panels versus hiding them?
It doesn't matter if the panels are reduced or hidden, you can't work with them anyway, and if you need to maximize the work space, then complete hiding is much more beneficial.

Zoom 100% is pixel from document to screen pixel. Try Actual size (Ctrl+8).

Pšenda reacted to Rodi in More usage out of Affinity Suite
So my job is production printing. Have had some success and some failures in using Affinity Suite. The huge overriding plus is it opens PDFS for editing pretty darn well. Yes, you do need the font's but that's not an impossible feat these days.
So we got a job from a client (B&W Ad for two different sizes in just black) who wanted to make edits to the pdf. Since Acrobat is not always the best pdf editor and the changes were more than slight, I decided to go for it in Affinity Publisher 2. The size the customer wanted and what they gave did not jibe, but they did have an outline rule to go by. Good. So opened directly into AP2, and it flowed as it should. Only drawback was the pdf was in "Gray" which means upon export it process out to all four (4) colors. I could only wish InDesign had search similar fill/stroke!! Made short shrift of the work.
Affinity Suite keeps getting better, and I won't let the problems (doesn't like some fonts upon output) dissuade me from using it.
Thanks Serif!!!

Pšenda got a reaction from Alfred in Can't make new selections
Does the cursor look like this?
This is because you already have a selection made, and the cursor is positioned within it, so you can move the selection. If you place the cursor outside the selection, it will change again. Alternatively, cancel the previous selection (Esc, or Ctrl+D), and start the selection again.
