In my opinion, Affinity uses standard dialogs from the OS. I don't know how it is on a Mac (I'm a Windows user), but I'd be waiting for some choice there - I'd try to select the second icon on top.

Why don't start in APublisher? If you need vector work - switch to Designer Persona, if you need pixel/foto work - switch to Photo Persona.
Switching applications using "Edit in..." is only necessary for specific cases - Export using Export Persona, editing photos (panorama, stack, liquify, tone ...).

Hi Graham, thank you for explaining your issue in detail. Perhaps this would be enough motivation for Serif to raise the priority for his.

Yes, thanks. I do understand the logic.
For many people, CTRL Z, and other keyboard shortcuts are quicker and easier, but personally I have realised that I am much more productive using mouse and keyboard (or fingers / pen on a touch screen if I was using Affinity products on a tablet.)
My condition means nothing I do in life is ever automatic or instinctive. I can teach myself to do anything and to do it well, but it takes me a lot longer to do that than most. Dyspraxia is a little like Dyslexia in the way that brain signals are confused, but rather than affecting speech and language as is the case with Dyslexia, Dyspraxia affects motor control and movement. (The resulting frustrations are similar in both conditions.)
I created this post (I now realise in the wrong section of the forum, for which I apologise,) because after several months of using Affinity Publisher regularly to create some beautiful documents that my clients appreciate, I was (personally) continually getting frustrated when I wanted to quickly undo/redo a couple of things and there appeared to be a button missing.
Others may find it easy to adapt but for me to use the keyboard is a whole load more thought processes to add in the middle of a design task... Leaving the work on screen, looking down to the keyboard to ensure I press the correct keys (and actually coordinating my fingers to do so)... Meanwhile the pointer has moved on screen...
I hope that explains how, for me, a couple of swipes and clicks of the mouse in a relatively small area on screen is a whole lot less complicated than using keyboard shortcuts.
For me one of the strengths of using Windows 10 compared with macOS is how Intuitive and simple it is. Pressing the single PRT SCRN button or ALT+PRT SCRN or using the new Snipping Tool for screenshots is a whole lot simpler for me than remembering and coordinating multiple finger-ballet positions combining SHIFT ALT CTRL OPTION and numbers.on my MacBook.. it reminds me of trying to operate a ZX Spectrum back in 1983!
I sometimes use CTRL-C or CTRL-V to copy and paste on Windows, or the OPTION variant on a Mac.. but it's so nice to have an on-screen choice and right-click if I prefer. (I know I could set up right+click on my Mac.)
I hope this helps Affinity be as flexible and inclusive as Windows 10 is, with great design... As was the case with all Serif's legacy products.
Thanks to all that responded for listening.

I know this expression. But for me it is, well, kind of strange, to start a conversation and tell somebody, who isn‘t involved yet, that now it is his turn to react. You did your job, and now you expect, that Serif should do his one. Would be quite different, if you mak e a proposal and ask for reaction. But throwing something in front of somebody‘s feet and tell him: „React!“ is, as I said, quite strange. But do what you like to do and check the user‘s reactions …

The reason for a feature request forum is for users to be able to discuss the merits of specific requests. That's why it's far better to create separate threads for each specific feature. "My Personal Wishlist" threads just end up being ignored as soon as they turn into the un-navigable grab-bag of scrambled discussions—which they all do. No one comes to a forum like this to read every individual user's 'all-encompassing' list.

You really need a negative scanner for this, where the light source is behind the negative.
The light needs to actually pass through the negative and then be converted into an image.
In normal flatbed scanners the light source is in front of the image being scanned and is bounced off it and then converted into an image.
If you only need to do a couple of negatives you could DIY something with some white paper, a window and a tripod mounted camera on a bright day.
But really if you have a lot to do then a proper negative scanner is the way to go.
Once you have good scans of the negatives, then yes you could then use Affinity Photo to "process" and to print them.
There are lots of good videos on YouTube showing how to convert negatives into images and worth taking some time to watch a few.

"Forcing users to choose a tag to indicate which app their topic (most) relates to is a bad idea for several reasons".
Sorry, but all of the reasons listed here are not related to "not using Tags". Quite the contrary. You know how many queries are followed - what application?, what OS?, instead of being able to answer directly.

Forced, required, & mandatory all mean the same thing.
It is also not the same as requiring a title because users are free to choose anything they want for a topic title, while forcing them to choose among a predefined list of apps and/or OS's is entirely different, & often would be irrelevant.

@R C-R forced may be substituted with required as currently used in creating New Topic.
Current Procedure using iPad Pro:  + Create, Topic, Select Forum, select (example selection) Affinity on Desktop (MAC & Windows), Continue, Title (Required).
I suggest just adding one more multiple required selection:  Affinity Program, could be programmed for fly out with all Affinity products to select and after selection, pop out menu to click appropriate OS, each a simple check selection.
I believe, if implemented,  the initial response would improve as post identifies the Affinity program and OS, eliminating the numerous initial response: maybe someone could assist you if you post the program and OS.  All post would be posted, as now,  preventing missing tons of helpful information relevant! If tags were used.  I don’t think this would add hoops or discourage new users, it may assist them in getting proper reply, first attempt.
The initial post would identify the program and OS in question, eliminating the many unnecessary responses we read daily: on Windows using command works ... I’m not sure how it works on MAC or similar response, MAC users may post.

I think this specifically comes down to the post editor wording as it asks for a 'Title' and doesn't specify that we're looking for a title to the post, rather than the title (ie Mr, Mrs) that the user goes by - which is also why we see a lot of forum usernames as post 'titles'. I've raised this with the team and hopefully we can make this clearer in the future
I can't comment on the splitting of the forums, as this is not a decision I can make - however I personally believe keeping the forums a common space would work best - perhaps with further tagging & search functionalities so that specific users can choose to filter, if they wish.
  23. Confused
Pšenda reacted to R C-R in Break up this forum?
Forcing users to choose a tag to indicate which app their topic (most) relates to is a bad idea for several reasons, all of which have been covered in the other discussions about this. But briefly here are a few of them:
This is a company run support forum intended for questions & other input from among others people that have not yet bought or used any Affinity app & may have little or no idea about their similarities or differences. More topics apply equally well to at least two & usually all three of the Affinity apps than to any single one of them. As we learned from the 2019 Keynote event, the Affinity product name was chosen to suggest the affinity these products have for each other via the common native file format, the ability of any of them to open & edit documents created in any of them, StudioLink, & so on. Like Walt said, looking only for topics tagged for one specific app means missing a lot of very useful info that applies to all of them. Invariably, someone suggests adding a fourth tag for general questions or allowing more than one tag for that, & others suggest there should also be mandatory tags for the OS.  A lot of people new to the forum do not as yet even understand why their name or email address is not a good title for their topic. It is a bit much to expect them to know which tag(s) they should choose.

Yes, path in Export Persona is only relative. When exporting then just enter the absolute part of the path, that is source document directory.
