Pšenda got a reaction from GRAFKOM in This is so disappointing
The current empty state of the beta forum is therefore quite ideal - you can complain about absolutely everything. Hopefully they don't start filling it with something, because it will reduce our room for complaints 😞

I can't wait for the new beta forum — so that I can start complaining about what it doesn't include and start looking for bugs that haven't been fixed!

Come on people don't be so daft.
AFAIK there's (since version 2) a subforum added and most likely the previous archived when a new beta cycle is coming on.
Patrick and Ash are adding the topics as we speak and these topics will be unhidden due time.

Pšenda got a reaction from Chills in A localizable version of each of the Affinity programs such that the localization of the menus is using an external localization file
Maybe because it's been requested many times already, and Serif has commented on it many times. If I remember correctly, Serif bears full responsibility for its applications, and therefore also for the correctness of the translations. It is not Open source, Shareware or Freeware for users to finish at home.
P.S. Translation using external tables is suitable at most for menu items, where the variable/different length of words with the same meaning does not matter so much, but it is not suitable for UI, where it can cause complete disintegration and illegibility of forms and panels.

Solved it. Thanks for advising on the Mac OS color profile!! I never would've thought that to be the issue, but I'm good to go now.

As write Walt "your OS settings for the color profile assigned to your display/monitor", try show screenshot with this settings (not Affinity settings).

Hello Pšenda and thank you for the hint.
I have searched a lot and nearly all of the search results behind your link are more than 5-6 years old.
So I wanted to know if there is a solution or not.
Thank you anyway 🙏

Pšenda reacted to fde101 in Drafting persona
Then it would be another related feature request... ideally with its own thread, like each feature request should have.
The notion of a drafting persona kind of makes sense if you are trying to use Affinity Designer as a poor man's CAD application (in spite of there being *real* CAD applications which are even free and open source). When working with a CAD program there is a difference in how you interact with tools to accomplish the same things as you would do with the tools we already have.
For example, in a typical drawing program, you create a circle either by dragging out from the center, or by dragging from one corner of its bounding box to another.
In a CAD application, you might also create a circle by specifying two or three arbitrary points on the circle, or create a line by telling the application to run parallel or perpendicular to an existing line or shape and give it a point along the line.
Adding stuff like this would not be unreasonable in and of itself, but it may create some expectation that other aspects of a CAD application will be covered, and I'm not sure Serif really wants to get into that market segment on top of everything else they are doing.
I would not be opposed to it, but I don't know that I can really support it either unless Serif comes out and indicates this is something they want to involve themselves with and that they are going to take precision more seriously (among other requirements for proper CAD).
In my opinion, if you want software that works like a CAD application, you should use a CAD application, which Affinity Designer is not.

Pšenda reacted to fde101 in Change the update process
This is 100% extraneous and would be foolish to waste toolbar space on.
Both supported platforms have integrated notification systems at the OS level. It would be particularly dumb to reinvent the wheel on this.
If Serif did want to switch to using a notification-based update mechanism, they should use the notification system already provided by the underlying OS, which can then behave like every other app which uses the OS-provided notification system.
This is already available on both platforms. On the Mac it is called the App Store. On Windows it is called the Microsoft Store. It even provides consistent behavior for software across multiple vendors - including Serif.

Pšenda got a reaction from mopperle in File preview STILL not working in explorer or Affinity with OneDrive saved files (works with CorelDraw)
I think any argument is futile here. I don't know if it's a language problem or a problem with understanding the meaning of the operating system dialogs, but unfortunately some of the information mentioned here many times remains completely unanswered, so the discussion keeps going round and round.

It is obvious that you do not understand the content of this post - see,
but try to read it again, or try to ask someone who would explain it to you.

Pšenda got a reaction from mopperle in File preview STILL not working in explorer or Affinity with OneDrive saved files (works with CorelDraw)
Because it's part of the Affinity app? - so it would be quite strange if the application couldn't read and display its own files.
For the Open dialog, the standard dialog from the OS is used, in this case it is part of the Windows (Microsoft) operating system. So it is a matter of the OS (Microsoft) whether it understands the file format and therefore whether it provides their thumbnail.
P.S. Although I don't have a problem with the file preview for locally located *.afsuite files, when opening from the OneDrive folder, the preview is not displayed - this function is not implemented in the OS (specifically in the OneDrive application), and it needs to be added/developed by Microsoft.

Pšenda reacted to Alfred in Export Publiser document to .afpub
The Export function is specifically for creating files in non-native formats. I can foresee export to *.af* causing nothing but confusion.
Isn’t it just as easy to go back to the master copy, delete the correct pages, and ‘Save As…’ again?

Pšenda reacted to mopperle in importing/pasting Word content
All my formating was carried over including the pictures in the word document. But as formatting in Word is sometimes very strange, it is always recommended to place unformated plain text only.

Pšenda got a reaction from Bit Disappointed in Usability - critical document metadata and tabbing in Publisher
I think it would also be useful to be able to fill in some user fields (metadata) when creating a new document - for example, the author's name (this could also be part of the template), title, document description, etc.

Pšenda got a reaction from SrPx in My Canva Request
I've seen a lot of "oracles" here like - Canva/Affinity won't keep their promise, and in a year/two/five we have a subscription! Personally, I'm rather worried - what will the graphic industry as such look like in this time horizon? The point is that the rocket rise of AI (its quality), which will still to continue, may completely shatter the existing principles and needs of designers and quality/professional tools.
