  1. Oh good, I shall hang on. I'd seen reference to DAM but I thought that people were just misspelling dam*! I've played a bit more with AP and I think it is very good. There is quite a learning curve for many of the RAW development controls work differently and have somewhat different effects. The tutorials are very good and useful. When this DAM thingy arrives I think we will have a competitor for Lightroom. Is there a time frame for the introduction of DAM? I do hope it will have batch import and the ability to process the import using a preset set of developments. Thanks. Donald
  2. Hello: Thank you both for your responses. I want to treat Affinity the same as I do Lightroom and I don't do any 'Photoshopping.' Lightroom provides sufficient tools for what i want to do. So does the AP Development module I think. I'm wondering about Fixx's remarks about folders. Clearly AP doesn't have very useful importation routines - well, none actually! Maybe I'm missing something, but I want my photos in folders by date. Feb 1, Orlando Wetlands and all the 300 raw images are there in one folder. What other way would I want to do it? Lightroom does it automatically. I then export 'good' jpgs to another folder currently called 'Florida 2017 Output.' When I want to put together photos for some purpose then I gather them by topic or job and put them in a separate named folder. This may be Calendar, Stock 1, Stock 2 etc Moving on, what is the usual workflow with Affinity Photo, are there standalone file handling programs? Clearly it isn't ready for prime time if I can't easily stick in an SD card, import my day's photos, cull them, and develop the good ones. Do users import images one at a time? Good grief, that's crazy. If this is so then it is just as well that AP is cheap and I can throw it away. But I shall remain ever hopeful that it will be developed. I suppose it is really built around people using jpgs and 'Photosshopping' or 'APeeing' them one at a time. I was thrown off by the advertised ability to develop raw files. It does and does it quite well but this aspect isn't ready for prime time. Thanks. Donald
  3. Hello: New to Affinity from Lightroom. I'm currently having three problems. I only use RAW which may make a difference to an answer. 1. In Lightroom if I click on an image it zooms in to one of several choices of zoom - 1:1, 1:2, etc. If I again click the image zooms back out to original size. This is very quick and useful but I don't see an equivalent in Affinity. I can zoom in by selecting the magnifying glass (cumbersome) but haven't found an easy way to zoom out. This is my most used operation as I adjust the image. 2. File handling. In Lightroom I can set up an import flow. Stick the SD card in, import with development adjustments, and place the day's shooting in a subfolder with the day's date on it. So, under Florida 2017 (where I'm currently trying to avoid winter) I get a series of dated folders. Simple and orderly. What does one do in Affinity for I certainly haven't worked out a way to do something similar. 3.In Lightroom I've set up preset development adjustments which are applied during a batch import. Can one do this in Affinity? Also can one batch import, I've only been able to import an image at a time rather than click import and import all the non duplicates on a card. As an aside, I want to move to Affinity because I own my copy of Lightroom so when I buy a new camera it isn't supported - no updates. Also, I've only been playing with Affinity for a day and it is very different to Lightroom. But thus far I've been able to get virtually identical results so it is a good start. Thanks. Donald
