  1. I make a lot of document with the same values of bleed and slug. Most of document are for the same type of industrial paper cutter guillotine. They need 3mm space from each side free space in and out of project to avoid bad cuts. So I started all project with putting the same values. It is a waste of time. Maybe is not troublesome but it is anoying. My dream is simply set them one and next use preset for it when I started new document. Designed heaven it will be when I'll be can combined this with preset of guideline for make guide of safe area to work it. I give some example. I make A4 poster. I start new project. Program automaticly remember last preset of bleed and slug so I don't need set it up manually. Before I make preset - slug/bleed area 6mm. On this preset I have option "safe guideline space" - I set it to 5mm. I create new file. I have bleed and slug setup to 6 mm on earch side - up, down, left and right to 6 mm. I have automaticly generated guideline based on A4 size (210x297mm) - portrait: up = +5mm down = -5mm left = 5mm right = -5mm so position of guideline is (0,0 is a left up corner of page): up = 5 mm (0+5) down = 292 mm (297-5) left = 6 mm (0+5) right = 205 mm (210-5) For more advance I'll be add advance option with automaticly calculated guideline. I simply make one row with value: horizontal / vertical guideline - checkbox formula - in format +5, 0.25% (= 0,25% of page dimension), divison or multiply fx. /10 (210/10 = position 21mm) color - fx. green Now when I create new document I set up safe area when machine not cut my work and I get initial guideline to position my elements.
  2. When I make some stuff for printing like DL brochures I need make special PDF for it. Each page was in particular CMYK color - Cyan Magenta Yellow Black (K). When printing machine started offset printing first print Cyan part of my PDF, next Magenta stuff etc. It was simple for printer get info from Cyan page and calibrate print to set how many ink of cyan it will be use, nett Magent etc. In old version In Design was this feature. Simple check option and get output PDF file with seperated CMYK pages. I think it would be great function for a lot of people. On digital printing CMYK/RBG all in one page is not make a difference, but in offset when machine print each value of colors based on color matrix it speed up a process. I have not experience with Panteone colors. I know only in that type offset printer it needed C, M, Y, K color matrix and for each Panteone seperate too, so I think in that type of PDF it should be added too but I'm not sure. As I write I make CMYK files for offset but without Panteone, becase of cost of print. In my opinion it will be usefull option for AD and AP.
  3. I find on forum old topic about Wacom Tablet Preset, but is old (2015). I would ask more advanced Affinity Designer users about two questions: 1. How correctly configure Affinity Designer for Wacom tablet? 2. How use tablet to boost productivity? Can you share your ideas? Maybe you have keys combinations with tablet or creative aproach to graphic design with Wacom or similar product? Maybe you can tell when you don't use it and why? Perhaps you know tablet's hacks for better work and can you share it? I think answers on this topic can help beginners to start use graphic tablet in more complex, creative way.
  4. I found introduce topic so I am! I move text published in other topic. I would use Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer on this fields: - Pentax raw edition - web baners - creation of webpage elements and graphics - make poster/brochoures for print. I hope I can do! :) I'm from Poland. I've some experience with Adobe CS6 PSP and AI, but they have wrong subscription model for me, so I choose Affinity. Graphics is a part of my job, but not main subject. I like photo, books, and making computer working for me. Sometimes I simply coding stuff to automate my work and I want find macros in Affinity software, but I more humanist than mathematican so simplicity is a primary for me. For few years I'm taking photos and it's my hobby. I like make creative stuffs with it like colors conversion, retuche etc. Before I used Raw Therapee and Lightroom for this. I prefer automate my job, because I have sometimes anoying repeating subject. It's a one things which I'll be looking for in your soft. Now I'm shaking, because as beginner I've not a lof of idea how do a lot of stuff which I can do in AI/PSD and more time I'm stucking not working. When I found info about AD and AP it was too late to test it so I make blind purchuase based on others opinion. I heard a lot of about friend-style of this forum so Welcome everyone!
  5. I bought it. I hope it will not be a mistake. I was looking for quick start guide outside video tutorials as hardcopy or PDF. Net opinions about Workbook are very positive so I'm waiting for delivery.
  6. Designer Workbook as ebook I think is good idea for some part of users. I view samples and IMHO hardcopy will be better fx. colors, and paper is not e-ink. Reproduction colors in some place is crucial to understanding. From other hand I think Affinity Designer help which I get as HTML in app should be release as free PDF file. I understand that I bough software in good price and you are not a charity so you want make money on documentation and learning stuff for Affinity users. When we talk about more advance concept of graphics like how use fonts to well work together, when we think about process design and choose color for project etc. etc. I have some basic and I understand this point. Adobe publish PDF help and user get basic in one place. When I know tools, rules of switching interface HTML help is good to remember things or get clues. From my point of view PDF is better, because I can simply print what I need without troubles, better search funcionality, easy to use on others devices and I can simply remember number of page. Because I'm totaly beginner I make simple Kindle version of help. It is not perfect because punctations are different, some graphics are missed, so I get about 85% what I need from documentation on Kindle and maybe 70% source style. For start I attached DOC with documentation with Affinity Team copyright at the end. When you send this file on your adres [user_name](at)free.kindle.com Amazon converted this to Kindle format. AD_1.5_help.doc Affinity Team, if you think that attached file is wrong move from me please remove it.
  7. I ask the same. Unfortunetly I can't find any PDF manual for Affinity Designer. * I try convert HTML with Calibre (simple move index.html file from "English.lproj" folder in Program Files inside Affinity Designer root to Calibre window). It's sad to say but it can't convert to mobi with pictures. Convertion to PDF was failed. Question to author of PDF of help version: How you create and which tools use to create your PDF file? * At the end, IMHO is a really good piece of work. It has all what I need to start with Affinity Photo. Thank you!
  8. Good morning! Intro I found introduce topic so I move this part to it. Question I bought Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo. Now I would use my Kindle to read user manual for both application and go deeper. I've time where I travel to work and I'd use it for learning basic by reading in bus. I find topic here about documentation for AP 1.5. 1. I've version 1.5.1. Are there any changes from 7 Dec in documentation for AP compared to file with this topic? 2. Is any ebook user manual help file for Designer?
