Many time in graphic design we have question which color use. So I think very usefull will be add sugesting color feature. Working example of this is Adobe Kuler website. Why? It is a automatication process of choosing new color. Some people do it by intuition, by other by math. For beginner and I think many professional it can improve workflow create for example few version of web layout or for photographers what background choose to complete picture. More explenation (with great free ebook on using colors with curves) is on Wacom page Wacom Color Master here - ebook titled "Color Theory: Understanding and Mastering Curves" (I'm recommed this lecture) and in basic of colors in video Natalia Taffarel on YouTube. Simply this feature is help to choose colors well working together. What? Type of sugesting colors: Complementary Split Complementary Triad Tetrad (Double Complementary) Analog Accented Analog Custom Options change from sugested colors saturation and brightness to still get harmony of colors. How? 1. Choosing color It's simply choose color and get colors matching to type fx. Triad - that is as Adobe Kuler does on webpage. After that we can add colors as pallete to document / application with option setting global color to better changing them in te future. 2. Finding pallete Detecting pallete used in document. Based on that sugesting which color match to selected type (fx. complementary) or not. On photo is finding which colors you can use to background / text descibes etc. 3. Sets of color in pallete First you create pallete to use in document and make them as set color with global colors. After that you make new using option 1 or option 2 and after that you create new set. Then you can change set using in document. In Affinity Designer for example you can create duplicate project linking to base (when you choose source copy change too) on Artboard. Only difference is that you for Artboard 1 choose set 1, and for Artboard 2 you choose set 2 of colors. On Artboard 1 you have typical version on website layout and on Artboard 2 you have version for morning (news websites use this when some very important person died like president, pope etc.). In Affinity Photo it can be classic set of color for older people more toned and more dynamic for young people. For example photographer makes elegant frame for photo with two version of background fx. making avatars with photo. Sets color in my vision are variation of colors within document pallete. So we have all sets colors in document pallete, but by choosing set we choose which global color are used in document now. For example I create frame and set one set of global colors named "boy" and second set named "girl". By clicking which set I use I get variation using in label design now for boys (set "boys") or girls (set "girls"). Summary I don't know why many application is not doing this on the standard. Choosing right color is a base of graphics and photo editing. It is not look like a very complicated make color wheel and sugesting color on them. For me it could be very usefull option for many of users. If someone feel well choosing color how Affinity application do now then in can simply uncheck / select option "not sugesting". For others sugesting color is automatication color theory without getting a long lecture with math calculation for it.

It was simple. I want buy CS6 version INDD, AI and PS, but Adobe canceled selling. After that I don't want endless paying for software. CMYK support was great advantege for me as the same as nice price.So i bought AD and AP. For me is the best software at this price. Support on forum was another in plus.

I found article about EPS, PDF and PostScript file format here. Acording to Adobe: If I well understand EPS is not propetiary format. So then is a posibility get strictly the same outlook of each EPS file in Affinity? At this stage of development in some place is not the same what is normal. If we talk about PSD and AI format they have locked specification and for each file is not posible reproduce strictly and get the same results what Affinity Team write somewhere on the forum. It could be a some solution, but I think here not about duplicate open functionality, but add part of interface to fast switch to another file folder fx. you've located folder with working files and only switch to next (fx. DCIM downloaded from DSLR). At the working solutions which I see the best is simply click on new file to activate them. Click on persona and then switch is walk around. You have two steps not one. I think interesing can be another aproach - as new persona simple browser to fast load and make list files to open and shourtkey combination to view small thumbnails to click & load file. I think troubles are: 1. Too much options - you don't have fast switching, because catalogues, stars marking options take place in simplicity 2. Fast hide navigation bar - sometimes you need more space for works fx. 15" laptop screen 3. Too much steps to switch files Posible advantage in Browse Persona: 1. Simply copy adjustment between files based on thumbnails 2. With combination with Export Persona it can make batch processing export fx. in Export Persona set filename, jpg compression, colours and in Browse Persona copy this settings to file - fx by clicking one icon you can adjust all settings to all files For better performance Browse Persona (Navigation Persona) needs ergonomic keyboard shourtcut to fast switch to them. At this solution you have way of working: 1. As is here - open file by standard dialog 2. Select files from directory (with subdirectory option) in Browse Persona 3. Switching on selected files IMHO option 2 and 3 can boost performance if Affinity Team add them by simplicity on the first place in projecting stage.

If you have problem with Wacom tablet you can try restart Wacom Service - as explained here. Other solution is looking for older driver, but it some case it make things worse too. I use two Wacom tablet - older Bamboo and new Intuos (home and work). Older Intuos driver work fine with Bamboo, but new driver block pen keys. If you like you can change driver from Wacom page.

Hi! I'm looking for solution to resolve my trouble. I get first poster from Print. I'm happy with result but I'm stucking in economics of workflow. I want create one project and then export it to PDF with multiple page with 5mm bleed, but with one element changing. For example I make Certificate. I have the same template graphics, borders etc. but changing names fx. Certificate for John Doe Certificate for Mary Happyfoot Certificate for Anthony Waterman At the summary I have the same background, frames, fonts styles etc. but I only change name. Now I have only two solution: duplicated layer / element and hide / show them at the time export or save as project with new name. Could you sugest me better solution? Thank you!

I've not trouble with JPG and similar files. When I open RAW file it's take few minutes to render file (simple Open File to load before use Develop). I use integrated VGA, but fx. in Corel AfterShot 2 I can open PEF minimum twice faster. Maybe is a settings issue? I don't know. I found info that CUDA is the best option for calculating data in CAD, but IMHO it can be use to speed up opening file as paralel render parts of image simultanously. Crucial point is that softwate use it. You've right! I downloaded file, but I don't know how unlock them. I try unlock on layers but I still have [locked] in tab.

After sugestion from topic I would see easy massive RAW file development. My idea ilustrated this video. In short Fast add new file and then quick change them to working with it. Difference what is in the clip 1. The more simple explorer without sorting, tagging and more complicated managment 2. Persona style development Idea Easy navigation next/previous RAW file Delete RAW from dialog Set preset in Affinity Photo when I develop RAW and then using Export Persona set output fx. the same name "holidays_" and with batch name like holidays_001.jpg, holidays_002.jpg and the same settings like output format, compression etc. Option make custom library of preset like B&W, sepia, infrared etc. Remove from app - delete from list to develop but not physicaly delete file Copy settings (preset) from one RAW to another - fx. I set sepia and invert colours with curves. I don't have to set this on another RAW from scratch but I can simply use preset for similar photo development / actual develop setting - past/copy RAW preset. Using macros to manipulation of file fx. add the same watermark for all output files based on logo from Affinity Designer to each opened RAW file Quick preview - on T520 with 16GB DDR3 RAM / HD 3000, i7-2620M loading 7 PEF RAW take about ~8 min. Hi there! I read few years ago about VGA for graphic design like Nvidia Quadro series. I found info about special optimised driver for specific app in Quadro case fx. for CAD. I'm interesting that Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo have any benefit from CUDA and special dedicated video card to graphics design? I'm changing my Lenovo T520 to Lenovo W520 and I'm interesting that I get any benefits from changing HD 3000 to Quadro 1000M 128@2GB VRAM. On the benchmark it's look like I get twice better speed. At this point is a really matter have CUDA when working with Affinity apps? Special dedicated video card in Quadro style cards gets any advantage in comparision to typical customer / gamer products?

Thank you! I found what I'm looking for. In the export dialog is option "Embed fonts". Now I have to figure out how show bleed. I can't see them when I work and when I generate PDF I don't know how check it position, because I can't see guides 5mm outside project. I try "/" as is sugested in topic here, but is nothing change.

I made project without standard system font. So then when I have finished work I want export to PDF and don't loose it.. Questions 1. When PDF is exported fonts are auto convert to curves? 2. How prepare PDF and don't missing font? I've got two years ago trouble. I make PDF, but in printing house they haven't font in their system which I use. I don't convert font to curves too. I would avoid this type of troubles.. Could you tell me what to do in AD?

@Petar_MK, this extra feature in Adobe is way to be for them a most universal app for users. It is a trend for this business I think. Adobe make me sick when you want something simple and you should use another app to make a deal. I think people want now more in one place. From other hand fx. text/paragraph style make sense. I use it in Affinity Designer to make ad to web. I set style and when font ruins my design I simply redefine style and here you go changes in few place at once. From other hand video editing and 3D modelling in Affinity Photo is in my opinion waste a time. I think universality should go in one hand with simplicity. I have simple start point and if I want I can add more details fx. check to "see advance option" on filter but on start is simply check/uncheck. My vision of Affinity Photo is not a combain, but a very optimilisationed code to work fast and achieve complicated design in few simple steps. It can be that Affinity make something like luancher - select file and like we use Persona we can simply switch to Designer / Photo / Publisher.

Petar_MK, without irony please. I'm hobbyst programmer so I know how many time can take simple fix bug or add a simple functionality. On the next release I think about Affinity Photo 2.0 or maybe Affinity Photo 3.0. I want continue this thread to find the best way to acomplish two task: develop RAW and change developed RAW file. I would open discussion not in direction do it or not do it, but how can it be acomplished in AP style of work. I agree, in some place better is use soft dedicated to work fx. for batch filename rename I use free program to get me a lot of options, to batch resize another etc. In my humble opinion we're creating here vision of new future style of working when you are not asking yourself which soft use for job, but what you want to do. I think Affinity can do that in period about 10 years. It is a time when Adobe move from limited software to very usefull app. When we look at Adobe we find Adobe Enviroment. We have similar menus, shortkeys etc. to boost creativity and make job easier. So then why not enlarge Affinity Photo functionality to better working with more files? From other hand any PC has limited resources. When we start few app to make job we limit what hardware can do. For me it is a reason to find more universality in one app with set is limit of course. I know we can not get app to do all in one place, but in Affinity Photo we have team which started Develop Persona functionality and for me is logical step to add change working file functionality to that.

So why not add some essense functionality to Photo on the next release? As I mentioned above new quality by mix of Affinity Photo features and easiest way to change development RAW is in my opinion way to make new clients and make app more universaly.

rmar, yes it is a way of productivity which I'm looking for. You simply add few images and then only using Personas to manipulate them on the prefered way. I'll start new thread about what I want in the feature requests page. Difference from Photoscape in my view: - hide tree mode after selection files to more working space - no above text like "Viewer", "Batch", "Collage" and simple clicking GUI icon to switch Persona. In my AP 1.5.1.54 I don't get it yet.

Dear rmar, I'm consider that since I've read that Affinity Photo don't have option to fast switch to another RAW file. In Poland is hard to find used Lightroom. Most user when bought then used them without any break. I think market need two separated lines of apps: 1. massive production RAW with FTP / Instagram / FB etc. social media compatibilities 2. massive production RAW without social media and limited to develop only I think LR is placed more in (1) I'm looking for (2). For me situation is clear. When I want detailed retouche it's really don't matter how open next file - I will spend few hours on it, so it's here started academic question. At this place I agree with you. One soft like Raw Therapee (because is free) or LR (better quality, less noise) in duet with Affinity Photo make a job. My scenario is another. You have a lot of RAW photo like some event or holidays. Most of them you proceed typicaly white balance, curve adjustment, balancing colors etc. Now you win on lottery and you found shoot of your life. You get your girlfriend on the beach in bikini, amazing lights and you falling in love when you see this picture... and on the first plane you see some trashes. You will remove them few second and lunch two times longer Affinity Photo. Get you my point? Do you understand difference betweens this two scenarios? From other hand preview of opened files when is more than few I think it can make Affinity Photo job easier.

IMO we shoud ask themselves which aproach is more convinient for edit more than one RAW at the time. I prefer add extra money to Affinity team (it is why I bought Workbook when I think this is a bit overpriced for me) to develop more universal Photo editor than buy next few app for other task. They have simple switch Persona in app and from my point of view it can be a advantage when they create mix Lightroom (simple next/previous load RAW) with Photoshop like (as Photo is firstly designed to) function to make work in the easiest way.

Develop Persona is step to easy deal with RAW. Optimalisation is always crucial so I agree with you. I think next step is make easier load another RAW and work with it. Photoshop CS6 has adance option to work with medic images. It is very specialised function and a lot of user don't simply use it. I think we should ask about what is universality base and when we need specialisation. It is reason why Illustrator don't replace InDesign and vice versa. App function is not equal with someone have to use it :) I think about how make something new. I'm looking for new way working with RAW. If someone don't need massive RAW develop then can in my scenario not check box and it is all. Specialised RAW converters has lack advance picture manipulation capability. Lightroom is not Photoshop and Photoshop is not Lightroom. So why not mix this together in Affinity Photo? In another way we can take Lightroom in mounthly plan with Photoshop and don't think about new solution because we have one.

So I'll check batch processing mode. Thank you for your sugestion. After reading answers I want add my opinion. I think DAM is great solution for some people working with a lot of types graphics. Specialised images cataloging and navigation program with labels, searching with tag etc. is good idea. In some place it make a advantage. I have different opinion. When you have to get editor with explorer inside app Lightroom is the good choice. You can catalogue photos etc, but take a moment and ask where is lack his funcionality. When you need remove object, add text, using mask you have to switch to Photoshop to deal with this job. I watch first 14 video of AP turorial, read 1/6 of manual and I see how many killer function in comparision to Lightroom Affinity Photo does. So why it can make only switching between RAW file easier? Out the box I get great functionality to make layers, working with blending modes etc. It was very anoying to me when I need some retuche and I need switch from Lightroom to another app. I think Affinity Photo is dedicated to advanced working with photos too. Name of app sugested that. So it have too make this: 1. when I develop one RAW - save preset of my settings and apply to anothers RAW 2. easy switch between a lof of RAW with simple navigation 3. set export setting for a lot of RAW Why? 1. It's boost productivity. When I need more advance functionality I simply click on another Persona, add what I want. I save time to switch app. Concept of Persona get advance when I need another Persona's funcionality I simply click on it. Sometimes you have similar photo, but on one of them you want add some changes fx. increase light effect on the night I can start on it for example by brushes. At this point you can copy settings from another RAW and add in other Persona effect by brush for example. 2. Crucial is simply navigation. When I need complex navigation functionality I want Adobe Bridge replacement (DAM), but for a lot of people labeling, staring not make sense. They want simple develop RAW and exported it like sport event shooting or simply amatour photography interesing place from vacation. I think add navigation window with RAW thumbnails and option save project (get all opened files as a project for later working with) it's all what they need. Next and previous RAW file, export/not export and delete from hard disk is what a simplest navigation should have. If you want more - use specialised navigator for it. From performence issue Affinity Photo could simply open file only when user click on it and when switch save temporary file with preferences. When RAW project is opened then by clicking in navigator you load develop setting. If you not apply setting you have default which you can set in Export Persona. At this point you have for example create Infrared style output by simply one clicking. 3. I like photography at free time so I take photos - in definition more than one in one place. When I have time I get RAW development. When I need switch between program is frustrating and in place of fun of it I'm waiting to open new app. Export Persona get amazing functionalities at this stage so why not extended it to develop more file at once? When we get new RAW project we can simply run batch processing. Setting from all picture are loaded from project file. I don't need add brushes and fx. blending mode to all pictures, but when I develop RAW I want some adjust for my specials shoots. When I go to holidays and come back I want some photos saved for documentary and I don't have too too complex develop on it. At the same time I have part of pictures to make more work and it is the place where Affinity Photo can win. Photographers don't have app with simply navigation mode for massive develop RAW and Photoshop funcionalities. It's why Adobe sell pack for photographers Lightroom + Photoshop. I hate in Lightroom that it has too complex options outside develop - Slideshow, Book or Map - I don't need it. Is this feature on roadmap of Affinity Photo?

I start read Photo Manual and I can't find information about massive RAW development with batch processing. I'm new in app so I maybe wrong, but it's look like I can open RAW file, but is limited to File > Open and I don't have option open all files in folder with navigation mode (next / previous file) for massive edditing. What I want 1. Select folder or files in folder - at once above 200 RAW files 2. Open it all above 200 RAW files in Affinity Photo without crash 3. Develop RAW one by one fx. I start develop RAW file no 1, next file no 2, next file no 3, ..., next file no 241 with posibility turn back to previous file and for example delete file from harddisk (remove scene duplicates) or change develop setting 4. When I set RAW settings in Develop Persona I want next set: a ) the same file name for output file fx. mountain- b ) set output folder fx. "my vacation" c ) set dimension, DPI, format etc. for all files but by setting it once fx. 300DPI 1024x768 JPG d ) export all files by one click Result: In folder "my vacation" I have output above 240 JPGs with 1024x768px dimension, 300DPI etc. with file convention mountain-001.jpg, mountain 002.jpg, mountain-003.jpg,..., mountain-241.jpg. Question How do that in Affinity? Is it a posibility work in Adobe Lightroom style in this app? Comment My question is not about posibility develop RAW, because Affinity Photo do that, but about massive edition. At this scenario I have 200-600 RAW files and I want edit them all in Affinity at once but without openning files in parts of fx. 20 RAW files, but with proceed in queue. For more explenation my question I publish video with what I want and I get in Adobe Lightroom here. As you can see in the window part below I get thumbnails of RAW files. When I click on them I can switch to another RAW file and develop it. If I want I can go back and change setting of RAW. When I set in Develop all settings I simply use Export. On this window I set what I want, press export and go drink tea when Lightroom do rest.
