  1. Hello Aammppaa, I come from the 3D design environment (Inventor, 3DSMAX, Rhinoceros 3D, Maya, Adobe Illustrator) and have to create very detailed 2D drawings for my clients. My problem was, until Affinity appeared, the zoom factor of Adobe Illustrator and Acrobat Reader (max. 6400%). With PDFs, even if I wanted to, I could not zoom into the finest detail (10000 - 100000%) and thus had to create several detailed drawings of a design for each presentation. Of course, this is a costly and time-consuming task! Until now I was able to create quite a lot of very small artboads (e.g. 0.01mmx0.01mm) in a document "as a kind of detail preview" and when double-clicking on the corresponding artboard, it was displayed on "full screen" so to speak. It was perfect and saved me a lot of work. Furthermore I could inspire my customers for Affinity Designer and also win them as Affinity customers, because they needed the program as in Art Viewer "in the demo version" and so they could enter their comments on design improvements "in the purchase version" in the same document. But since version 1.8.x the whole thing with the artboards doesn't work anymore and that's what I get from my customers! It would also be great if Affinity could integrate dimensioning and password protection for layers, artboards and document, but it's a different story or belongs in the "improvements" section! PS: And this to the idea why you create the artboards in the "regular work" of these sizes! Hello Patrick, I don't quite understand what you mean by "Artboard creating is pixel snapped". My settings are all in "mm" (0,000000 mm), so no pixel units should be active for the snap function in! AD_1.8.1.611_Beta_create_artboard_parallax_Preferences.mp4 Made a screenshot for you with "Snap to grid" enabled in "Snapping". Now you can see exactly which of the rectangles creates the actual artboard and this is not the selection frame!
  2. Hello Aammppaa, Hello hashms0a, your statement that you have no trouble has left me a little confused. And I must say that you are right, but with a big "But"! Because when I simply created a new A4 drawing and used the function "Insert Artboard" I suddenly didn't have any double (parallax) selection frames or selection boxes. "But", when I used the attached document for the above mentioned test the (parallax) effect was back! First thought was, the document is corrupt, it was created with the 1.7.x version. So I created an identical document in AD 1.8.0.585 and the (parallax) effect was still there. After several tests and on different systems (HP EliteBook 8560w/8570w & HP ZBook 17 G4) (Win7 & Win10), as well as through all graphic settings under AD menu "Performance" I found out how this (parallax) effect is caused. So I came to the conclusion that it must possibly be due to the dimensions or resolution of the document. Since Affinity promotes the designer with a zoom of over 1.000.000%, I created an empty A4 document and chose the function "Insert Artboard" while zooming in, Bingo! The (parallax) effect was there again and with every zoom level it got worse. Unfortunately I couldn't turn it off, not even by installing the latest graphics drivers. So I claim here and now that this is a bug and I hope you can reproduce it and confirm my claim! Thanks for your support guys! 3. As I have already reported, I could still live with the fact that by adding end elements to a curve (arrows, points..etc.) I was able to work around the problem (1.8.1.604Beta) with truncated ends. But with this version even this is no longer possible and in addition the "Add" function causes errors again! I have added an AD file with the document history, I hope you can see and reproduce the problem! AD_1.8.1.611_Beta_expand_stroke.mp4 AD_1.8.1.611_Beta_expand_stroke.afdesign
  4. Hello, Sean P., I want to report that the bug has not been seen since the latest 1.8.1.611 beta! Thanks a lot, you solved it quickly! What bothers me a lot now are these double (parallax) selection frames or selection boxes. Is this intentional or a bug?
  5. Hello "lukmankc" thanks for your hint! FYI, I don't want to anchor the drawing to the page, I want to enlarge it together with the page and there's the mistake!
  6. Hi MattP, thank you and the Affinity Team for the great work. I know you will solve it soon and until then I can live with the solution (insert arrows at ends) wonderfully! Keep up the good work!!
  7. This version actually works as desired, but only when I insert, for example, arrows at both ends (beginning and end) of the curve. These elements are stored separately in the layer and must be removed manually. But if I only insert connection elements at one end of the line, the other end will be cut off again, strange or? ???
  8. The length of the straight line at the end of the lines/curves must be significant in order not to be cut off. I tried to keep the ends as short as possible but they are still cut off. Also the baking did not help
  9. In fact, it has something to do with the Corner Toll function, because it works perfectly with straight line segments.
  10. In contrast to the 1.7x version, it is now (and in the 1.8.0x version) no longer possible to convert the area to artboard! An artboard is created, but not at the desired position. Also the function Undo after creating the artboard does not work, so you can never go back to the origin! Please note that the workspace moves again and again after each use of the Undo function, which should not be the case! I have included an example with document history, please solve the problem. 11. Unfortunately the line / curve ends are still cut off. I added a AD file with document history, hope you can reproduce the problem! S_Curve_expand_stroke.afdesign
  12. I have already noticed the problem with version 1.8.0x and communicated that the document size could not be changed afterwards, unless you change the DPI value minimally and the desired length and width (dimensions) of the document is changed!
  13. I can only confirm that! Wanted to change the document format afterwards and it did not work. The only thing that helped me was to activate "Anchor to Page" in the "Document Setup" menu. Unfortunately the "Rescale" does not work and you have to resize the objects manually AD_1.8.0_doc_setup.mp4
  14. Thank you for the hint "AlainP", but Affinity advertises with the Drag'n'Drop function which should be programmed in the software core as a function declaration and actually must be forgotten that this is state of the art. But no, not with Affinity, because with Affinity the handling gets worse and worse with every new program version and there are errors that have never been observed with previous versions. I have the feeling that with every new version the source code is rewritten again and again!
  15. Hang or crash when trying to insert a button from "any" Asset, in my case (iOS12 / UI Bars)! Don't be frightened (I'm not soooo fast at drawing), I just made the screenshot 2x faster. But you can see how AD collapses step by step, a slow and painful death: Here, maybe helpful, my system info: Modell: HP EliteBook 8560w (Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2820QM CPU @ 2.30GHz, 2301 MHz, 4 Core, 8 log. Proc.) 32GB RAM GPU: NVIDIA Quadro 2000M 2GB (Driver: 10.18.13.5362) OS: Windows 10 (x64) 10.0.18363 Build 18363
  16. I discovered by chance that errors occur in "destructive" and "non-destructive" Boolean operations. Here is an example of "non-destructive" Boolean operations: boolean_operations.afdesign
  17. Ha, ha, ha I just tried it too, but it is not really funny! Especially not if you want to work with it professionally and have to earn money! tree.afdesign
  18. Oh yes, the eternal "Expand Stroke" dilemma of AD! The "Expand Stroke" function is still not very useful for logo designs. Compared to the previous version, the results are noticeably better but unfortunately not good. But with all due respect, making round ends into square ones should not be possible under any circumstances! Line.afdesign
  19. Hello Merlin, don't despair! Had the same problem and not only with designers but also photo and publisher crashed permanently. The only things that helped me were switching the Power Options in Win10 from "Balanced" to "High performance" and in "Plan Settings" switching off the "Sleep" function in "Plugged in" mode. Hope I could help you
  20. My IT support would set up a VM on my workstation for testing such beta software. I don't think it makes sense to use a VM in this case, I can only test the new or improved features of the beta software but not its performance. Thank you for your answer
  21. Hello Affinity team, I have a problem with turning off the crash report and diagnostic information in affinity beta products. I would like to test the beta software in my company, but unfortunately our IT staff pointed me to the Corporate Security Policy. I am forced to uninstall all Affinity Beta programs because they give system information to the outside world and I can't disable this feature! Is there a solution to this problem?
  22. I tested it and was surprised by the performance difference. In the GIF animation (24FPS), the difference is small but really noticeable. Tested on: - Microsoft Windows 7 Enteprise x64 (6.1.7601 Service Pack 1): HP EliteBook 8760w / 32,0GB RAM | Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2860QM | NVIDIA Quadro 3000M / 2GB DDR5
