  5. Hi! I've just uploaded another tutorial on Affinity Designer. This one is about converting simple rectangles and ellipses into more complex shapes. If you like it, give it a thumbs up and leave a comment. Thanks! https://youtu.be/SeNhPOyE2kI
  6. Yeah, it's great that there is a tool that you can use to simply crop images and objects without using clipping masks or draw inside mode. If you liked the video GaryP, I would highly appreciate if you hit that thumbs up. It helps a lot:)
  7. The name is confusing, that is true! So is the Fill Tool's name as it's 95% about adding gradients
  8. Hi, I've created a quick tutorial on using the Vector Crop Tool in Designer. Hope you will find it useful! https://youtu.be/llVCGilaYtM
  9. Today I noticed that dynamic guides / intelligent guides work better in AD than in Illustrator. I've always used smart guides in AI, but quite often got frustrated that they weren't too "smart". Dynamic guides in AD seem to work better.
  10. Guys, how were you sold on Affinity Designer? I mean what was the main reason (or reasons?) that you decided to give thee software a shot? For me it was the price and the lack of subscription (obviously:) ) But also how smoothly it runs (even on Wiindows 10 :D ) and how easy it is to design UI's with it. How about you?
  11. Ok, so I got to a final stage of the guide. It spreads across more than 170 pages and along the way I learn a thing or two about inDesign ;) As a token of my appreciation I would like to share it with 10 first people so if you are interested, just drop me a line -> dawid.tuminski@gmail.com 4 copies sent this morning - 6 more left! :)
  12. Yeah it's difficult to enlarge such small parts without quality loss :/ Unless there is a way of which I am not aware?
  13. That's great, Big_Shon! Here's a complete chapter about the interface with added images : https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4EhouZW-YgVdFF0NVF3UkJBMUU Any advice welcome, particularly abut the clarity of images. Thanks!
  14. :D I 've just uploaded my guide's table of contents if you guys are interested. Any advice would be much appreciated https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4EhouZW-YgVTi1XMFZiajZIQTg
  15. Yes, I've seen the official tutorials, but there is just the workbook for people who prefer paper resources.
  16. Thanks @NilsFinken and @ BrianHermelijn I will definitely give this a thought. I know that there is a lot of people who prefer learning by reading, but I think there is much more people who prefer learning by watching (and repeating, of course). Soon I will have the second section ready and I will share it in this thread as well.
  17. Yes, Rosa. This is just a text version. i will add all the images but only after I am done writing. Adding images is the easy part :)
  18. There definitely will be pictures (and yes, lots of them :) For now I wanted to just focus on the text. I talk about Pixel Alignment in another chapter where I cover snapping in general, but thanks a lot for bringing it up! Thanks, gdenby. I forgot about adding a section comparing AD with Ai for instance. I will definitely add it! It's a good idea to add info on the menus. I think I'll incorporate it in the panels sections of the guide. As for the Corner Tool, I am covering it thoroughly in the Artwork adjustments section. Thanks a lot, guys! Any other advice would be much appreciated!
  19. Hey guys, I've decided to create a guide for all those who (like myself) are starting with Affinity Designer and come from the Illustrator background. I've created first few pages and could use some advice: do you think it's easily understandable for a beginner? is there enough valuable information for someone starting out with Designer? any other feedback would be much appreciated Here's the link to the pdf https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4EhouZW-YgVZF81c0RBRjdHWG8/view?usp=sharing Have a nice design Dawid
  20. Sounds like duplicating objects aligned to a pixel grid can be unnecessarily complicated?
