  1. Hello Leigh, thank you very much for your answer and the really amazing tutorial. I will test it. I use the channels to see what information are the best for a mask. So I let calculate the software to get a result. For example I got a woman in a red robe. in the red channel these "red Color" will be like white. So I can use negative muliplication to geht it a more clear white. A gradiation tool will help to get a clear white. Some brush action and it will be finished to use. In AF the biggest Problem seems in front of it. The possibillities of AF are amazing. the apply Image tool, yes it works I got a lot to explore. The first results get nearly I want to have. btw I got a further question. ALT+click an I get the mask. In further future will it bee implemented to use brush blend modes like overlay to work smart in masks? @James: I' am very exited about the tutorial. thank you very much and best regards
  2. Does nobody use these colour selection tool? I am surprised. Please AP team can I have a tutorial about these feature an how to use it?
  3. Hello Wingshooter, welcome to AP Forum. For your choice, please make a selection between Photoshop and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom! 1. Lightroom is more a database, with RAW converter as a pixel manipulation tool as Photoshop an AP 2. LR has an import function, keyword function, catalog function and rating orders. So it is more an administrative tool for all your pics you did. Selection for year, motive and so on. your are able to organize your pics. thats the Keyfeature. 3. Photoshop is a pixel manipulator. AP also, both software hasn't any feature to organize your pics. only your head will do it, or not. My research gave AP a chance, because I didn't want to pay for a trouser an bill montly to use it. Adobe gets these way to pull the money out of my bag. So I was looking for Alternatives. AP gave me these. in some cases other processes drives me crazy, but experiance will get results, sometime :-) For managing my Pics I use LR V 5 because it hasn't the cloud feature. the problem with editied Photos, try to synchronize your folder, you get them. It is an reimporting function ( in these case they are in the same folder. Otherway you have to import the edited Pics.) And after these, you're able to export them. Good Light
  4. the head is round, Kaffeundsalz shared some spirit to me. After these I tryed get quick and simple. Please beg pardon it's my first tut. What I did. Copy Backround twice. first Image convert to B/W > push red and yellow channel for red an yellow colour information, blue and cyan drop down. so a clear mask will generated. After these I woul flatten to a rastered mask. but the resuilt is a grey not even a black mask. Nested die BWLayer to the picture > lyers > rastered to mask and it works. After these I nested to ne 2nd copy of backround. an make some correction with the black paint tool. thats it. all in all not more than 3 minutes. good light. simple_Flower2.afphoto
  5. Hello kaffeundsalz, , thanks for your answers. I tried it. And yes it works as, but for the result it makes me mad. As simple example these red flower in a blue sky. complentary contrast, very easy. yust click on the red channel below. make a reserve channel, load up pixels. raster a mask as you wrote. lay a gradiant tool above and nothing. After it get nested the gray comes again. So I put a mask on top for the result I want to have. These mask would be copied from an other tool into AP. Please help me to discover to create these mask via channel to Alpha to get a perfect mask layer with full B/W settings. Thanks from Westerwald simple_Flower.afphoto
  6. Hello Lee D, I am a newbie in AP. I got some further Questions about layer masks. In my oppinion the Mode of the brushes dont work on a mask. I tried black an white with overlay mode, and it seems to be a bug in den Program, because black is painting in white as normal settings. And white colour does paint in black. To get clear black an white for a mask I tried also gradian tool layer an tonal gradiant correction. It doesn't work for the mask. Also a Bug? How to get clear b/W in a Mask whe to much shades of grey are present? I am very frustrated. All things I know about Mask and layers will not work in AP for me. Thanks
  7. Dear Affinity Team, beg my pradon for my bumpy english. I congratulate you for the really great software. For me it is a challenge to work with it. But one thing drives me crazy. I got some Pictures with black or grey backround. normally whit my standard tool (yes these competitor) I select the colour hold the shift an add the same colour range in neighourhood. click at Mask symbol an ready. All in all not more as few seconds. After these I use the paint tool and overlay mode to get some tricky pixels. In my old tool it works fine. All on all for shape a mask not more then five minutes. On AP these feature it is also be present, I was surprised and happy to work with it. And after a few hours I am frustrated because it never works as I would like. it drives me crazy. the selection seems like good will action from the program. I now the origin problem it is really between my hand, and fits in front of the display. I don't understand what tool operate. So I got a request to you. Please explain these function. Selection Colour is a quick, easy deal to make very perfect masks. The selection tool against these method is much more time intensiv an much inaccurrate. In all Video tutorials they use the selection tool Why they don't let operate the AP for them? Also I didn't found Channel operations How I can operate red channel again green? blue with red? red wiht red in multiplicate or negative multiplicate? And also in the paint tool the brush. in my chase with the mask composition the white colour paint still in black. I activated overlay for the brush, but it didn't work. it will be great to see some tutorials about these chases I am looking foward for your answer, I would be appreciate about it. best regards Oliver
