I'm absolutely loving this update! I was more than happy to pay the upgrade fee. I was really surprised and disappointed by the amount of comments complaining about upgrade pricing, £90 for the affinity suite is an absolute steal! It seems like they expect to have bought an app and expect free updates for the rest of their lives.. V1 we had free updates for 7 years or so. People need money to live don't expect affinity developers to work for nothing. It's completely fair what they've done.. in fact more than fair, its generous. Try spending £300 a year on Adobe subscription on apps you'll never own, or Astute graphics plugins £130 a year and never owning..

Above all, I would like to thank you for this reply to your user base.  I am sure not all would agree with me, but you presented these issues in a timely and honest comment and I agree with all of your explanations.  Having owned/operated a small business for 53 years dealing with the public I know for a fact you cannot please everyone.  But your team has done an extraordinary job.  You all should be pleased.  Thanks.

Thank you for this - it is very clear and I hope that those who are complaining all read it in order to understand the rationale. I think the vast majority understand the difficulties and that Serif is still a remarkably small outfit. I look forward to the V1 to V2 upgrade 'thank you' bundle. 😀

OR if they are also planning on adding the trash can to the Select Tool's context menu at the top, similar to how the Node Tool has a delete icon, that would be fine. As long as there is somewhere on the screen that we can just delete with without any action that's more complicated than a tap.

I just double checked that I can reproduce the behavior on my machine.
Even though it is different on @Heinrichdsf's machine, it crashes on mine as described in my last post. If all names are unique, designer does not crash here.
I hope this points in the right direction to track down the bug!

It's ongoing since Monterey.. You need to have some sort of cloud app installed. Try installing Google Drive. Then restart your mac, start designer, and save some files. Eventually you will have it, sometimes it takes 2 saves to beachball for me.

For sure there are still some glitches here and there, and about spacing, I somehow think there is a "by design" behaviour to increase responsiveness...
Reaching parameters' limits we could occasionally "uncover" these offstage solutions maybe?
Those skips make me think about rounding errors in calculations... But I’m making arbitrary assumptions... 😄

    My MBP is a 2018 one too and I'm using a Cintiq27QHD (2015 model)

This is a quick screengrab using a 10000x6800px canvas.

As you can see... 25% zoom, very quick circular scribbles... Smooth on my side...
Internal cycle doesn't offer a great edge control, I'm showing you also a different way to obtain pin sharp edges using custom Wet Edges Ramp.

PS. In the very first part I'm hunting back and forth trying to remember where I put the dotted brush... 😅

We currently offer both types of selection behaviour as separate choices in Preferences, so I suppose there's no reason we couldn't add a third option which is basically an 'auto' governed by which direction you selected in... I'll try to add it when I get chance (although it may blow minds - my own included!) :)

It is a very sad reflection on humanity when people are more concerned that some one else has got the same advanttage they have.  It does not diminish or affect the  discount you have it is just a whine that some one else has an equally good deal.  Be happy you got a good deal. No one else has got a better deal.
Why whine that some one else is haveing good done to them?  It does not harm you.

When Serif first released APhoto I was offered a discounted price to buy it. I was certainly not an existing or loyal user at the time.
I took up their offer and have used the software ever since to do my work and make loads of money over the years.
Now they are offering me and new users 40% off for the next Version of their software.
That seems to me that Serif are rewarding their existing customers and allowing the next generation of users to get the same opportunities and earnings potential that I got many years ago

Why should new users not also be given the same opportunity I had, many years ago, to get the software at a discounted price?
If your sole argument is that you should have got a better discount than new users you are shooting yourself in the foot.
The bigger discount Serif offers to new users the more will purchase it and Serif can grow quicker and thus implement all the fixes and new features we all want

"Be careful what you wish for" and "Don't cut off your nose to smite your face" are two phrases that spring to mind

If you claim to be loyal customers then you should be supporting anything that helps Serif grow not whinging on like a 12 year old child that believes he should get better/bigger Christmas presents than his 10 year old brother because he was the first born.
Some people need to grow up and see the bigger picture

Thank you for your comments! I totally agree!.. been a bit frustrating reading comments that are dominating the Forum at the moment.. So a few things to consider...
    1. Version 2.0 is, overall a fantastic new release with so many useful features helping to improve workflow and offering some significant new creative solutions. many of them have been asked (or demanded!) for on this forum for years!.. I am already using it to update brushes and create some new ink drawings. It is smoother faster, more efficient and is reasonably stable!.  I personally find it a complete pleasure to work with.. but I will certainly will have to adopt my workflow to consider the array of new options.

    2. When there are new releases in Apps | Software there are issues. this release is no exception. There is no way software can be developed that will work on all devices and installation configurations instantly from the moment it is released so patience would be a good option to consider.
I am completely confident that many of the emphasised issues will be resolved quickly with patch updates and version updates.
    3. The Serif team deserve congratulations and support for the release of version 2.0 I am sure it has been a lot of hard work

    4. Yes! There are features that could added.. their is certainly a lot of scope for future development.. which is great!. I will be looking forward to new feature additions.
This is Version 2.0., you can easily predict that there will be 2.1, 2.2 ,2.3 +patches, etc just as there was with version 1.0.
    5. Development is not free.. it costs time, money, organisation and creative thought... something people should accept!.
There are a lot of new features in this latest offering.. Some of which I have certainly not explored yet. Affinity 2.0 is not a little update ..but just to recap...if people take the time to watch to launch the videos and explore the apps in more detail I think you might find that the features detailed are only the 'tip of the iceberg'
In Designer (which is my favourite!😀) There are loads of new features and improvements... I don't know how many as it would take me a while to list them but!......

Some of the new features in Designer
UI mods | Document re-design and organisation | New layers Panel | Content Linking | Vector Warp | Drawing scales | New Tools: Shape Builder | Knife Tool| Measure & area Tools | Style Picker | New Selection options | Stroke Controllers | Updated Booleans | Node tool Enhancements | New options for placed content | Brush | Improvements | More Import | Export options | Multiple layer Effects

These are some of some of my favourites under the hood!:
Allow Selections to consider items inside a group | Split vector curve at midpoint | save and edit templates directly | reorder brush nozzles | List last used brushes on layers | New Distance Controller | X-ray mode | Isolation mode | Style Picker | Knife tool | Fill Holes | Remove Inner Curves |  Add a vector inside pixel layer | Flood fill reference layer |  Warp tools | Close line with Pencil

    and once again..
Big thanks to Serif and the team for all your hard work.. much appreciated!😀

Just wanted to make sure you know that I appreciate the work y'all put into the V2 of Affinity. I have yet to find something I don't like about it.😊👍 Great job! I also appreciated that you let us have all 6 apps for only 99.99 as well as it being a universal license. Really nice! I downloaded the trial before I bought the 'real deal' and after switching back and forth between the 2, it made the old version feel clunky and old though I wouldn't have said so before I'd tried the new one! So thanks again for all the hard work @whoever all is responsible😉, I for one out here, definitely enjoy it!
