  1. Status: Beta Purpose: Stability & Critical fixes Requirements: Purchased Affinity Designer Mac App Store: Not Submitted Download: 1.5.2 Beta 2 Here This beta is intended to fix any critical issues found in the current App Store version and should be considered to be more stable than the App Store product. To use this beta, simply download the file from the link given above and double-click on the file to open the installer. Follow the instructions to install the beta version. The beta sits alongside the Mac App Store version and will not interfere with it. Fixes: Resolved Font enumeration crashes at startup Fix for Assets being dropped into the Asset Panel even when it is collapsed - which explains why some people are seeing an inability to move objects to certain areas of the screen (it's because the panel is still getting tested as though it was not collapsed and you're creating assets every time you move!) Fix for crash seen when creating Assets from objects like Masks that perhaps have no dimensions by themselves Fix for renaming Assets causing a crash Fix for inability to change paragraph leading
  2. I'm reasonably sure there is one 'Featured' page for each App Store territory, so the only differences people see is just down to their territory. All pages are completely created and controlled by Apple. Our icons are going a bit funny today - don't know why, but at random they're fine, then broken - it's absolutely nothing that we can control and it does seem to just happen every once in a while (rather strangely!) - it'll settle down again in time, I'm sure (I hope!!!!) Thanks again everyone - I'm just building a Beta 2 right now that should offer an improved experience :) I'll upload it when I've done it and tested it for a while :) Matt
  3. They're FAR from forgotten - we've got some great new things on the way, but I can't talk about them because you never know who's reading the forum! :S
  4. That's brilliant - thank you so much for letting me know, I was really hoping that we'd manage to resolve your issue! :D
  5. Firstly, I think this post warrants an explanation. We released Affinity Designer 1.5 to the Mac App Store today and found a serious issue printing in macOS Sierra and also we already had an issue pending with the Export dialog, so we immediately fixed both problems and pushed another build to Apple and they (incredibly quickly) reviewed it and released it a few hours ago. Since creating the 1.5.1 version, we also became aware that a small numbers of users seem to be seeing other critical issues and our aim is to resolve these as quickly as we possibly can and make these fixes available to customers immediately in the form of the 1.5.2 Beta. Once these critical issues appear stabilised we can then push this update to the store so that all users will be able to use the App Store version. 6. ...and it really is in our minds, and it really does get talked about pretty-much weekly, and it really will get done. Sorry that it hasn't appeared yet and that it's affecting you so adversely :( Matt
  7. Hi MBd, Ash and Neil (our Creative Director) do all the promotional videos by themselves - concepts, artwork, script, editing, everything! - which is pretty darned impressive, to be honest! Thanks, Matt
  8. RC1 -> MAS wasn't too much of a surprise though, given that we were 27 (internal) builds into the beta cycle! ;) I don't know the definitive answers to either of the questions, but I do know that the Grade UI Kit will probably be iterated on in the future and hopefully improved to make use of Constraints now that they are in the shipping, stable version of Affinity Designer. Also, the video is probably using 3 different Perspective layers from Photo to achieve the distorting effect and then using the same embedded document under each layer - that's my guess :) Thanks! :) Matt EDIT: Beaten to it - and with the same answers (less smilies though!) ;)
  9. Hi Predick, Yes, we found this yesterday too :( The app is due to go live this morning (in about 15 minutes) so there wasn't time to pull it from the store review process and upload it again but the moment it goes live I already have a fixed version which I will upload as a new update and get it into review - so in theory this will be fixed in the App Store version before the weekend :) Sorry for any inconvenience, Matt
  10. Status: Release Candidate Purpose: New features, fixes Requirements: Purchased Affinity Designer Mac App Store: Submitted Download: 1.5 RC1 Here (Updated at 15:31 BST to include a few extra bits) This is a beta of a substantial change to our codebase and as much as we have tried to ensure the quality of the code, it should be considered to be not suitable for production use. This means that you should not attempt to use it for commercial purposes or for any other activity that you may be adversely affected by the application failing. In addition it is definitely worth noting that files created in Affinity 1.5 cannot be opened in 1.4 so always make a copy of your important documents before opening them in 1.5 to ensure you do not accidentally overwrite them and are unable to open them in your 1.4 version. To use this beta, simply download the file from the link given above and double-click on the file to open the installer. Follow the instructions to install the beta version. The beta sits alongside the Mac App Store version and will not interfere with it. Fixes/Improvements: macOS Sierra improvements (some dialogs were not getting their input boxes auto-selected which was a nuisance) Sharpen Tool (in Pixel Persona) now correctly performs Blur when holding down Alt/Option Auto-selecting layers with the new Preferences item won't force expansion of selected group nodes now Updated Assets Fix for colour conversion issue seen when copy/pasting a placed image which is of a different colour profile to the document Layer effects now allow the user to type in values in different units (points, inches, etc) Huge performance increase for marquee selection of objects in multi-artboard documents Correctly import miter limit in SVG documents PDF import and export of transparency groups should be much improved now Aligning objects in a symbol instance failed to redraw the newly aligned objects in other symbol instances Better logic for dragging out an Asset with constraints on it while Cmd is held PSD export of raster clipping masks improved PSD import fixes and improvements relating to solid white layers and being able to optimise and just use an opaque white document instead Slice Tool should respond to Escape correctly now Fix for occasional Symbol issue manifesting as the detachment of all attributes when only one is changed EPS and PDF import now generate documents with better structure when a large number of children nodes are imported Draw 'thin' lines in a visually nicer way Fix for crash when creating a Compound from a constrained object Fix for releasing compounds causing objects to move around if the contained objects had constraints Fix for solid fills not applying to pixel layers Pasted text should work correctly with text styles now Temporarily removed 32bit document format and functionality as this has not received enough testing coverage to release Fix for constrained objects in symbols acting strangely Miscellaneous other small fixes
  11. It should be working - if the OS has it turned on, then we should be doing it... I'll ask about it tomorrow, thanks :)
  12. ...AND it's fixed now! Thanks again - that was a pesky little so-and-so!
  13. Thank you, Malcolm - that's definitely acting strangely, I'll try to get this sorted asap :)
  14. The snapping setup could definitely be the cause of the problem - on my MacBook Pro (2015) it seems to be working really quickly to be honest, but it does get a tiny bit slower with snapping turned on, but that's natural. Is it quite slow on your system? Would you be able to send me a video again so I could see it and see if I can reproduce something similar? Thanks, Matt
  15. We can certainly look to improve this area in the future, never fear! :)
  16. You are using the Affinity Designer Windows Beta, the Develop Persona (and others) are part of Affinity Photo which is not available for public beta on Windows at present :)
  17. MattP

    Cheers!

Phenomenal! Really nice work yet again!!!!! :D
  18. I prefer the first one - the eyes are brilliant! Maybe the third one would've been my favourite if the eyes were more like the first one?... :/
  19. Hi Malcolm - I'm desperately trying to reproduce a similar problem, but I'm not seeing this on any symbol or nested symbol scenario I can create? Turning off Syncing and modifying an attribute like colour always just detaches the colour for that particular instance, but all other attributes are still left connected... If you go to the Layers panel and hover your mouse over the description of the object in question then it should tell you which attributes are not connected. In my case, it just says 'Unlinked Attributes: Fill' and that's it. If it's a particular file and you're happy to throw it my way then I'll look at it straight away :) Thanks! Matt
