  1. If you don't think that £29.99 as a one-off payment for a vector drawing package and bundled extras is fair, then you will not be happy with the software as you obviously don't see the value in it, so I would recommend not purchasing it at present. I use the software personally and have purchased my own copy DESPITE working here and actually being able to get it for free - because I use it all the time for so many tasks and seems SO fairly priced that I just don't mind paying for it!
  2. I think we need to see a screenshot to know what you mean? The application is dpi and scale aware so should look sharp no matter your setup - mine looks great! I'm sure we can get you sorted if you can show us what you're seeing....
  3. It works by sending tiles to the device, but your artboard can be the size of a device and if that is smaller than the host device then it will run in a simulator mode for that hardware. If your artboard is the size of the device itself then obviously you'll be seeing your document correctly laid out for the device. It doesn't impose an iPad size onto an arbitrary artboard and then re-layout on the device, if that's what you mean? It previews your design on the device, it doesn't send the document structure to the device and get it to re-render... For that, you'd need the iOS versions of Designer/Photo that just let you design on the device itself...
  4. It looks really good - it'll be in a public beta very soon (we'll put out a call for TestFlight invites soon)
  5. The 1.5.3 that you've installed from the Mac App Store is newer than the 1.5.2 Beta and as such, the Beta doesn't know about it so thinks it's not the retail version it was expecting you to have. There's nothing to worry about there though as the 1.5.3 App Store version is a slightly improved version of the beta :)
  6. What is your input device? I'm using a MacBook Pro with touchpad and don't see this... (macOS Sierra)
  7. I think I know what's going wrong here - I'll look into it - thanks for the report! :) Matt
  8. Time-machining the contents of that folder should work just fine - the reset was accidental on our part, so manually restoring the contents will return you back to where you should have been :)
  9. It seems to be the 'duplicate' that's the problem - if I copy/paste I get the functionality that you're looking for... I'll sort this out, sorry... :( EDITED TO SAY: Just fixed this, it'll be in the next build
  10. Hi tlmkn, Welcome to the forums! :) I think I know exactly what you're talking about and it's in our bugs database to resolve as soon as we can. I'm sorry for the inconvenience in the meantime :( Thanks again, Matt
  11. Hahaha! Nice one, Allan!!! :D (Now how do I get that panel to activate just for 00Ghz?) ;)
  12. Hey, it would've been rude of me to just ship one inside the Beta without even warning you. If you're sure you want one then I'll try my best to include one in your next Beta delivery - make sure you have plenty of time on your hands, an understanding partner and an awful lot of nappies ;)
  13. Hmmm, mine seems to be working just fine and I don't think anyone has touched that area for a while? It's certainly using the same code as the current Affinity Photo 1.5 Beta and I'd imagine there would be a lot of people testing it there? Is it just one particular file or is it even on a new document? Thanks! Matt
  14. I agree this is a problem and as I said, we'll make sure there are two swatches available in the future for Greys, clearly labelled as CMYK or RGB. To the best of my knowledge there are no other caveats or things to be wary of when designing for CMYK output using a CMYK document.
  15. This is the reason you're seeing what you're seeing: It is a swatch, just like any other swatch. It is not dynamic in terms of what it presents. So that means it was made using colours from ONE colour format. In the case of that swatch, they were RGB colours, so you are seeing an RGB black (R:0, G:0, B:0). If you use this in an RGB document it will be 100% black. If you use this in a CMYK document it will be rich black, i.e. not contain only K. You can say it's a poor design, fine. So the alternative is to define the colours in CMYK format as variations of only K. This will then work perfectly for you and other users will come on and ask why their 100% Black is grey in their RGB documents. So that's why it's the way it is and I hope that makes sense. As for what it SHOULD be doing... Either it needs to be dynamic (which is not good because it means one of the swatches is special - and why shouldn't others be special? and then where does it end?) or we need two swatches, labelled as being for RGB and CMYK. You can obviously very easily create this CMYK swatch for yourself in the interim. Thanks, Matt
  16. Interestingly, most Plus users criticise Affinity for having too few 'eggs' in its basket... Affinity has far less features than the Plus products (if you choose to count them)
  17. Thanks for your description, Suzannewendie :) I can definitely imagine what you're describing, but I can't think of any reason for the behaviour at the moment... :( Does everything return to normal if you just choose View->New View when you are experiencing problems?
  18. Hmmm.... this is interesting... we approached another company that made specific controllers for photo-editing software a while ago and nothing came of it, maybe we could do something ourselves to enable MIDI controllers instead?... We'll have a chat in the office about it when we get a minute - thank you! :)
  19. Status: Beta Purpose: Stability & Critical fixes Requirements: Purchased Affinity Designer Mac App Store: Not Submitted Download: 1.5.2 Beta 4 Here This beta is intended to fix any critical issues found in the current App Store version and should be considered to be more stable than the App Store product. To use this beta, simply download the file from the link given above and double-click on the file to open the installer. Follow the instructions to install the beta version. The beta sits alongside the Mac App Store version and will not interfere with it. Fixes: Enabled 32bit documents and associated studio UI (including OCIO) Resizing documents should scale guides and slices as appropriate so they appear to be in the correct location Fix for Mountain Lion in the new Export Persona (panels disappear completely and the app becomes unstable) EPS export improvements with thin lines and mitre joins Fixes for Text Styles (editing 'No Style' and clicking in certain areas of the style preview) OpenType tweaks Print speed improvements Fix for being able to measure between siblings inside groups and containers, also being able to measure immediate children of a container and between selected object and its ancestors. When space is tight, the measurements now appear out-of-line rather than scaling too small to be usable. Improved error reporting when opening PSD files Fix for PDF import of Japanese fonts Shortcut for soft-return is now shift+return Fix for issues seen when bleeds are unequal on different sides Fix for issues seen when trying to output selected areas to PDF and accidentally generating multi-page PDFs Automatic slice rectangle calculations should not include the layer effect inflation from the parents Improved output-path validation for Export Persona Added 32bit PSD export Added EXR/HDR export Initial support for new Touch Bar on MacBook Pro Added Polygonal and Magnetic lasso selection modes Fix for Fonts list jiggling around at times when moving up/down in the list Fix for copying groups within Symbols causing 'the beginning of the end' Had a baby daughter so wasn't around much Miscellaneous other fixes and improvements
