  1. There has never been any suggestion that any Plus product customers would get a free licence to the product, of that much I am certain. I do not know where this claim came from. It is similar to me saying "I also remember Ferrari saying they would send free upgrades to all Fiat 500 owners" - it doesn't mean it's true.
  2. Hi Marla, I did not suggest you had a problem with a virus, I suggested that maybe you had a problem with some antivirus software (i.e. it was interfering in some way with the usual operation of the system). Perhaps this is the case. I do not have antivirus on my system and had no issues. As above, I did suggest what to do to fix the problem, and I hope you'll find that it does work - if not then please by all means let us know and we'll try to get it sorted. I had assumed that a lack of response had meant that you had now been able to install correctly, not that you were still having problems. Thanks again, Matt
  3. Yes, a lot of your success will be based on the quality of output in those formats from the software that your supplier used - it's worth trying PSD or SVG if you're interested in keeping layer/vector information, or just PNG if you only need an image that looks right but is not editable...
  4. Hi, When I open the document, this is what I see: I believe that's correct? With regards to the document dimensions, you're viewing the entire document's size in that dialog. Each artboard is the correct 357.2x669pt size (this is the same as shown by Illustrator if I open the same PDF). The DPI is inferred from the highest DPI image we come across in the PDF (as PDF does not have the notion of DPI in itself - it just assumes 72 at all times) Hope that makes some sense? Matt
  5. Sorry, things have just been crazy busy since the release of Designer on Windows and we're struggling to respond to everyone... Yes, I don't see why we couldn't tell the user what type of image they have placed :) The landscape/portrait orientation issue is more difficult - we'd need to see the original PDF in order to find out what's happening. Perhaps there's a tag we're not reading that doesn't get set by other applications, but InDesign is setting it? (It's actually quite interesting that the PDF thinks it is 6 portrait pages - rather than one landscape page... are you certain that what's in the PDF is what you think it is?)
  6. 'ESC' means the Escape key - it should work to Cancel an existing operation (perhaps you were mid-drag with your mouse and this should cancel the action) or to back out of a selection if you were not currently in a drag operation.
  7. Something in your document is forcing the rasterisation. There are many reasons this might be happening. If you wanted to email your .afdesign file to support@seriflabs.com with a link to this post I will happily look at it and tell you why it is happening and what to do about it. Usual reasons are: Applying a layer effect (it's a pixel-based effect), applying adjustment/mask layers, setting groups to have opacity levels that are not 100%. Basically anything which is outside the specification of SVG - as you can't write out a vector for something that SVG can't understand! :) Thanks, Matt
  8. Hi Guys, as was established in post #5 by NFG, this is simply a bug in the Windows version - I suspect that parameter has not been correctly wired up to the backend so the resize will look poor because it isn't using the sampler you just told it to! This will obviously be resolved very soon. Sorry for any inconvenience in the meantime :)
  9. We only ever release the next version when it's ready - so we don't know when that will be, but I'd imagine it will be quicker than the 1.4->1.5 update cycle this time as we're trying to improve and flesh-out the features we already have and resolve long-standing issues and performance problems, whereas other updates have focused on adding new functionality which always has a volatile development time.
  10. So cute! (and a great colour palette!)
  11. Hi SrPx - just wanted to say thank you for doing so much detailed testing on this aspect - it's very much appreciated! :) We'll keep on working to make it better - I have a plan to rewrite the whole brush tool input code for the next release if we can't sort this out soon, so please don't give up on us! Thanks again, Matt
  12. Yes on both counts :) I would expect the website version to be equivalent to the iOS version in terms of interactivity and you could certainly try to use the mirror as a sort-of portfolio if you wished :)
  13. Two separate things: Logical operations are slow. Snapping causes transform/duplicate to be slow
  14. As long as Ben has enough time, I'm sure he'll give Snapping a thorough going-over :)
  15. No, I mean that if you're designing a website complete with prototype interactions that you'll be able to mail a link to your client and they can view it in their browser on whatever device they have. Not everything is app design, so it will be a general purpose mirror :)
  16. Logical operations take a long time - I'm aware of this and can easily speed it up (it's on the cards for next version). With regards to duplicating, try turning snapping off... Hopefully it's much faster then? There's no reason architecture-wise for that operation to be slow other than snapping needing improvements when there are many potential candidates - again, this will be done for next time. The next version (1.6) is intended to be all about performance, stability and fleshing out existing features to gain maturity.
  17. Because the aim for the project is to be able to ultimately send your client a link to the project that they can view on a browser when you're done, that you can then update from your end and it will update for them. It's also about scalability - an iPad 2 or 3 has no chance of rendering a big document in a timely fashion, so it would not be scalable. We understand the need for an on-device version of the product, that's why we are making one. But there's also need for this product too...
  18. This may sound strange, but try adding a '.exe' to the end of that file name and see if it now works correctly. I have no explanation at the moment for why on Earth it would've downloaded without a '.exe' file extension? Perhaps an antivirus software problem? The Affinity Workbook's discounted price is £29.99 to the best of my knowledge, so if you're seeing that price then that's the discounted price :) Thanks, Matt
  19. Hi Marla, Sorry about the problems you're having - it doesn't sound like you're having the same experience you should be getting... Could you tell me what the file is called that it has downloaded and how big it is? (just to see if you've got the full, complete download or if it's corrupted somehow) Thanks, Matt
  20. I suspect somebody is comparing a floating point number without testing its tolerance... This will get fixed soon - thanks for the report :)
  21. The offer is supposed to end on the 24th according to all the literature I've seen - I don't know if they'd planned to continue it longer for certain users, but I doubt it? As Paolo says, consider the community of Mac users (like myself) who also wanted to buy the Windows version - why shouldn't we also get the special price? All Serif has done is just made a wider decision to include more people. There's no way to know if I had bought the Mac App Store version (as Apple have no facility to allow us to identify customers) so we have to just open it up to everyone - as far as I'm aware?
  22. I don't know all the business decisions - I'm basically just a developer - but I do know that nobody would ever have been deliberately trying to mislead you. Plans change over time and that's fairly natural. If the decision was later made to offer all customers a discount for the sake of fairness, then I can't help but think that's actually in the interests of everyone? I agree that maybe there should've been a supplementary email to all Plus customers telling them that the plan was to now offer a discount to everyone for the first week, but that's the only thing I think could have been more transparent.
  23. I'll just add a quick mention here that CDR import is entirely doable - it has been done many times before so I'm sure we can add it (we worked out Freehand import - broadly - and that hasn't been attempted many times, after all!) it's just a case of waiting for the time when that addition will be of most benefit to our customers, vs some other functionality that they may benefit from as we only have limited development resources.
  24. Hi wrparks :) We've no way to know who has purchased the Mac products as the Mac App Store provides no mechanism to give us information about our customers - only Apple has that information and they will not divulge it. So we did the next best thing of simply offering the software at an introductory discount... if you're a current customer/beta user you're more likely to find out about the software at this point and be able to take advantage of the lower price. :) Thanks, Matt
