  1. Ah, sorry - this will be a non-retina alignment issue, we'll get it sorted :)
  2. I think the Windows version is building still... shouldn't be long ;)
  3. Status: Beta Release Purpose: New features, fixes Requirements: Purchased Affinity Designer Mac App Store: Not Submitted Download: Here This is the first beta of a substantial change to our codebase and as much as we have tried to ensure the quality of the code, it should be considered to be not suitable for production use. This means that you should not attempt to use it for commercial purposes or for any other activity that may be adversely affected by the application failing. In addition it is definitely worth noting that files created in Affinity 1.6 may not open in 1.5 so always make a copy of your important documents before opening them in 1.6 to ensure you do not accidentally overwrite them and are unable to open them in your 1.5 version. To use this beta, simply download the file from the link given above and double-click on the file to open the installer. Follow the instructions to install the beta version. The beta sits alongside the Mac App Store version and will not interfere with it. Fixes/Improvements: First and foremost, the 1.6 version is mainly about: Light UI! (go to Preferences->User Interface) Improved view pan/zoom performance and new pixel-differencing pixel shader Improved performance with large documents New font chooser dropdown with recents, used fonts and favourites New Glyph browser Stroke stabiliser for all pencil and brush tools Align to key items (first/last selected) Text frame vertical alignment options Fit frame to text (double-click on bottom centre handle). Transform panel uses the rotation centre Scale/shear can now be performed about rotation centre Double-click now resets shape handles and rotate/shear handles Many PDF export improvements including vector export of multi-stop gradients Numerous bug fixes and stability improvements
  4. Hi Jens, Without seeing the file itself, it's really hard to guess where the problems may be. Ultimately, if Inkscape got slow, as the file grew, and it's also slow in Affinity, then it probably just is the case that you need to break your design into separate sections (even by using grouping/layers) to give the programs chance to optimise away some of the tasks they're constantly trying to do when you interact. If you could share the file here we could have a look, or if you just send it to support@seriflabs.com with a link to this forum thread then I'll take a look and let you know what I find. Thanks, Matt
  5. Hi mvgraph :) Just to let you know you can actually do this, but you must first have the objects themselves in the selection. The Node Tool selects nodes from all objects in the selection and it can also be used to add objects to the selection by single-clicking with Shift held. Thanks, Matt
  6. Anything distributed by the Mac App Store must adhere to its terms. Apple has a page about this: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202152 Thanks, Matt
  7. Looks like it's to do with the object being part of a compound object (i.e. a live boolean geometry object) and this is failing... it shouldn't be possible to do this, so I'll look into it... In the meantime, I can probably fix your document if you want to send it to me? Thanks again! Matt
  8. There are many ways to do this... The first to spring into my head at the moment is to make your new A4 document, go to 'View'->'Guides manager...' and click the button to make a new horizontal or vertical guide (depending on which orientation your page is) and then click the 'Percent' option and edit the guide to be at '100/3' and press enter. It will set the guide to be at a third. Do the same again but at '200/3' and you're done. You can now set the Snapping options to snap to guides and that'll help you when you design... Thanks, Matt
  9. Hi sbonsell71, Glad you've got the image in Affinity format now :) For reference, it sounds like you had placed the SVG file into an existing document (which is why it appeared to be one, uneditable object until you double-clicked it). In future, just 'File'->'Open' the SVG file and you'll get what you were after :) Thanks! Matt
  10. I'm fine with it! :) Oh... I see what you mean now, sorry... ;)
  11. I have no idea why, but... Expand one of your slices and click on the bit that says 'Path:' and you can see that it's set to put each icon into a path that contains it's name and an appended '.appiconset'. If you delete the contents of the 'path' completely, then recreate your export preset and reapply it to all, you'll get the right results :) Thanks again, Matt
  12. Have you got the 'Builder:' set to 'None' on the slice? It definitely shouldn't be making icon sets unless told to do so... :S At worst, send the file to me and I'll fix it :) Thanks! Matt
  13. Hi Bob! Easy enough to sort out, so don't panic! ;) Go to the Export Persona and select one of your export slices in the Slices panel. Look at your export format (where it says 'PNG' underneath that particular export slice) and change it to have a '1250w' slice. Now click back on the slice itself in the list and go to the 'burger menu' on the Slice panel (the three-lined menu icon at the top right of the panel) and choose 'Create export setup preset...' and call it something sensible. Now select all your slices and choose your newly create preset from the 'Export preset' dropdown. Hopefully that works for you? :) Thanks! Matt
  14. You can change the colour of a layer and this will affect the colour used by the tool when objects are selected on this layer. Simply right-click the layer and choose 'Properties' and you can see that the layer colour can be changed. If you select an object on that layer, you should find that your tool colour changes accordingly. This makes it easier to spot which layer you're working on, or to set a very obvious layer colour that's different to the content you're designing. Hope that helps, Matt
  15. Thanks for everybody's input on this one :) Just to reiterate, version 2 will be a new version, not an update to version 1 - all updates are free and this means within the version you have purchased - this is, as has been pointed out, 100% standard practice for software for the last 20+ years. With regards to upgrade pricing for version 2, well, who knows?... the reality is that our focus is utterly on version 1 and making it into the product we all want it to be. We have not written a single line towards version 2 at this point and I don't imagine that will change for a long time. We set out with the intention of creating fully-featured, professional level software that was fast and fun to use, and we set a price that we thought would be fair so that we could sell it to lots of people and they would all be happy - we intend to keep adding features until it reaches a mature level that we are happy with, then we will start to write version 2... If we don't put enough into version 2 to make it an attractive purchase at whatever price we may set, then that is our problem - and we will pay the penalty for it, but that's a long time away before we need to even think about it... ;) Incidentally, perhaps somewhat differently to other software companies, the people involved in writing this software actually use it and enjoy it - and we've also all bought it with our own money as soon as it went on sale. We want the same experience as our customers and we have the same expectations. If we did something that wasn't in the customer's best interests then we'd also be letting ourselves down - and I certainly don't want that...
