  1. The WET-EDGES option in the context tool bar is persisting when other non WET-EDGES brushes are selected. This screen shot shows a brush category of four brushes. From the top, the first three brushes do not have WET-EDGES set in both the brush editing panel nor the context tool bar. The fourth brush has set WET-EDGES "on" in both the brush editing panel and the context tool bar. After selecting the fourth brush with its WET-EDGES on and then going back to the top three brushes, each of the non-wet-edge brushes now paints with the WET-EDGES properties, although their Brush editing panel reads as NO-WET-Edges BUT the context tool bar shows the WET-EDGES has been selected which is a problem. To get back to a non-wet-edges brush , I first have to click on a non-wet-edges brush and then click on the brush that was initially non wet-edges to "reset" the brush back to its original setting. Please help correct this issue. Also, my IMAC freezes, when I rapidly run through each brush selection.
  2. Thank you so much Walt.farrell, You really know your software! Yes the hyperlinks were the issue, indeed! I was using a template with hyperlinks and all I did was refresh the hyperlinks and that did the trick... I can now export a PDF in flatten mode, yea! It was exactly the same link , as I matched the two hyperlinks.. so all I did was delete the "older link" in the template and paste the "new but same hyperlink" and now it works. Thanks again Walt, you made my day!
  3. Hi, I am running A-Publisher V2 and getting an error message when exporting the document as a PDF. The document in question is 11 pages in length and each page measures 16 inches x 20 inches. Six of the pages are filled with rasterized images and text occupies the remaining 5 pages. The first two options for exporting ,(For print) and (press ready) work fine. But attempting to export the file as a PDF (digital small size) or (digital -high quality) or (for Export) or (Flatten) all fail and generate the same error message.. see below. I don't know anything about the PDF/X versions... so never use them.. What are these three "X" versions used for? Thanks for your help!
  4. Hello Dan C. Thanks for your response and I do appreciate all the time you and your team must have logged with this new V2. I imported and tried out the iPad AF V2 pencil brushes, as you suggested and they do work fine now.... so thank you to all the developers! Greg
  5. Hi Chris, Sorry for the delay in responding to you. I just finished an intense, demanding job and I needed to be super focused. Regrettably the file is of a proprietary nature and I can't share it with you. I did attempt to reproduce the effect with other current files having adjustment layers but the liquify persona worked just as it should... no freeze frames like in the sample I posted here. So, if the liquify persona acts up again... then hopefully, I can post the file for review. Thanks again for your time Chris.
  6. Here's one for the books. When attempting to use the liquify persona on a layer that has a child adjustment layer .. the liquify persona generates a fractured screen. When the child adjustment layer is disabled, then the liquify persona works fine.
  7. I will be interested to hear what they find out. Thanks Chris
  8. Hi Chris, Not to say die, I have really attempted to get these pencil brushes working in AP V2. In summary, Importing AP V2 iPad pencil brushes and attempting to select them in the brush menu causes the iMac to freeze. Building an exact duplicate of both the carpenter's pencil and 4B pencil within AP V2, so that they are native to AP-V2 causes the iMAC to freeze Using two brushes from the sprays and spatters brush category does not freeze the iMac.. yet these brushes "look similar " to how the carpenter & 4B brushes are built although the bitmaps used in the texture panel are different. I can't figure this one out.. Perhaps its time to abandon the idea of using the pencil brushes completely, even the pencil brushes built in AP-V2. I suspect the issue has to do with the bitmaps within the texture panel but is above my expertise. Can you help and it is worth Serif's developers time to figure this one out? Thanks Greg
  9. Hi Chris, Here is my latest findings. AP-V2 just doesn't like V-1 nor V-2 AP-iPad pencils/brushes. As mentioned, I had imported the iPad AP- V1 of the pencils/brushes into AP -V2 (desktop version) and my Mac would freeze up when selecting any of the pencil brushes... So I deleted all the V-1 pencil brushes and imported V-2 iPad pencils into AP V-2 Desktop and the same thing would happen... AP-V-2 desktop just doesn't like these brushes. So in summary, opening a new file in AP-V-2 desktop with AP defaulting to the pencil brush category, any selection of a pencil brush would my mac to freeze. The strange thing if I chose a different brush category and painted with one of the brushes from this second category and then went back to the pencil brush category and selected a pencil brush.. my Mac wouldn't freeze......but after some time if I were to persist in clicking through the pencil category then eventually my Mac would freeze. Can't figure that one out. I also found that some individual brushes within the drawing brush category when selected would cause my Mac to freeze up. Also, when selecting brushes within the older categories like Daub gouaches and Daub Bristles and Inky Street ART 2 would cause my Mac to freeze. Looks like I have to build my own pencil brush versions within AP-V2 desktop to have a stable pencil brush set. Your thoughts are appreciated .
  10. If in case you aren't aware of this neat trick, here is a quick note on how to rotate an image in AP interactively. Besides the keyboard shortcuts of "r" for clockwise rotation and "F5" for anti-clockwise in incremental degrees of 15 degrees at a time there is a keyboard shortcut to interactively rotate an image by holding down the command key while scrolling the middle of your apple mouse ( the hidden mouse wheel). This gives you access to the interactive rotation. For this to work, insure that the "Enable canvas rotation with command and scroll wheel" is checked.
  11. So I put the bush/editing panel through its paces and it works without a problem.. Conclusion is that it was all the duplicate brush sets, some under different names that caused the brush panel to freeze up my mac. Thanks again Chris.
  12. Hi Chris, So I deleted a ton of duplicates and figured out what the lock icon means..... it represents a brush pack that I purchased from the Affinity Store. Hopefully this clean up fixes the freezing issue... will keep you posted as to how the AP brush/brush editing performance is now after cleaning up the brush panel. thanks again !
  13. Thanks for your speedy response Chris. Yes I will get rid of the duplicates , although even though some of the brush titles are the same.. the number and kind of brushes in those categories may vary....I guess its time to clean them up and thin them out. So what does the lock icon reference? Let me know what you find... Thanks again
  14. Hi Chris, Thanks for your timely response. I understand you must be extremely busy right now. I have included a jpeg of my brush collections and yes I do have many custom brushes which I imported from AP V1. Many of those brushes originated in the iPad version 1 of AP. and these brushes performed exceedingly well in AP V-1. As outlined in my comments above , when I first imported the V-1 brushes into AP V-2, the brush panel and brush editing panel was not very responsive. But over the short time that I have been using AP V-2. the incidents of AP V-2 freezing as dropped significantly from the high 90's% to something better... but AP V-2 still freezes while using the brush panel. Two questions regarding AP's freezing Question #1 I'm not a programmer but is it possible that AP V-2 is adapting the code of the newly imported brushes by rewriting some kind of dynamic algorithm??? Running concurrently with this brush panel issue was an issue with the liquify persona. The liquify tool was just too slow. Someone suggested to disable " the automatically adjust brightness" in the system display panel which I did and to my astonishment , the liquify tool began to perform very quickly. Question #2 Could disabling the automatically adjust brightness in the system display panel, impact the performance of the brush/brush editing panels? Thanks again Chris for your wise words.
  15. The theme of this drawing is to attempt to capture an expression of "the eternal youth".The painting is of a male figure and I have already modified the head of the character with a more mature look in final painting. Thanks for asking.
  16. In Version 1 of Affinity photo, I can click on the brush panel , select a brush and double click the brush icon to open the brush editing panel where the brush parameters can be changed. With the brush editing panel still open, I can click through the stack of brushes in the brush panel and the brush editing panel dynamically updates with the parameters for the current brush selection, In version 2 of affinity photo this functionality is not working. My experience with Version 2 is that I can easily select a brush from the brush panel but when I double click on the brush icon to activate the brush editing panel, Affinity photo freezes about 98% of the time. Once in a while, double clicking might open the brush editing panel. Once the brush editing panel is open though, you cannot click through the brush panel /brush selections without Affinity Photo freezing up... Anyone have any experience with this issue? Any solutions? Much appreciate your help. Greg
  17. I just wanted to share my approach to digital painting. I have tried many different approaches over the years and find this one works for me . I initially create a graphite drawing on vellum drawing paper, photograph it and then take the digital file into AP. Using the default blending tools, I blend the previously shaded drawing into a nicely sculpted form ready for the application of colour using gradient maps. Here is a sample of the final stage of the grayscale and its readiness for colour. Comments welcomed.
  18. I rely on AP for digital painting not much text involved....so after having so much trouble with the AP A2's liquify tool , which I rely on so much, I took the "same file" now saved as a PSD file and went into the liquify tool of AP V 1 and the tool worked like a charm.... super fast, within a second whereas the same file in AP V 2 took ~ 2 minutes to perform its function.. Don't see any reason for me to use AP V2 and will stick with AP V1 until Serif fixes the V2 liquify tool.

  20. We know that you can't open a V2 -AP file in V1- AP but If for any reason , you have to open up a V2 -AP file in V1-AP you can export my V2 -AP file as a PSD and successfully open up this file in V1 -AP... hooray , all is not lost.
  21. I just discovered that all is not lost. If for any reason , you have to open up a V2 -AP file in V1-AP you can export my V2 -AP file as a PSD and successfully open up this file in V1 -AP... hooray , all is not lost.
  22. I have been using V-1 AP for about seven years now and love it. I use the liquify tool extensively and was looking forward to the latest version 2 of AP. But I find a lot of the functionality of V2 is slower.. like loading and saving files..The biggest slow down is the use of the liquify tool or more precisely applying/saving the modified file..... this process is so, so slow. I have done everything to attempt to correct the situation - this side of installing more physical RAM. reducing the DPI down from 300 to 200 of the file I am working on. Making sure there are no other files open in AP along side the one I am working on. Closing all other apps that might be open on the iMac. Using the liquify tool with and without hardware acceleration enabled. Using the liquify tool with the integrated GPU enabled and not enabled. Resetting my IMAC's VHRAM Dumping the trash. Increasing the RAM usage limit to the maximum settings with AP But nothing has helped the very slow performance of the V2 AP liquify tool. Regrettably, I might have to go back to V1 and lose all the layers in the V2 File Serif please fix your liquify tool. Any suggestions would be helpful . Thank you GCJ
  23. Totally Brilliant Solution!!!! Wish I had thought of that myself and saved the time spent in rebuilding each gradient map... oh well .. live and learn.....AP! Thanks again for your clever solution... Enjoy!
