Here's a afthumbs.py Python3 script which can be used to extract PNG thumbnail images out of Affinity files.
The afthumbs.py script can be called either by passing over a Affinity file as argument directly ...
... or in an interacting mode just like this ...
If the script does find a PNG thumb image it will extract it and write it into a pngs/ directory!

Well, what you see is probably a preview of the embedded PNG thumbs of that file. - To be more precise here, there are 40 PNG thumbs inside ...

... at least that's what my afthumbs tool tells ...
... and concluding from the huge size of those embedded PNGs (all in all 6.81 GByte) ...

... I don't wonder that that file gives problems when trying to reopen.
Why did you attached the file then here at all in the forum?
 

It's Indexed color which I suspect is stuffing Photo
If you convert it to rgb with Imagemagick
magick Plus42.psd -colorspace rgb Plus42IM.psd
then it opens in Photo

Well it's overall not that easy at all to build some outstanding good own tracing algorithm. And most people who are often giving their two cents here in the forum, either way seem to don't know much about bitmap-to-vector tracing in general. - BTW, AI capabilities aren't needed to get and determine some halfway good tracing quality, there are some older tracing algorithms (>= 7 years) which are quality wise still unmatched by nowadays (more modern) implemented tracers.
Comparison of some tracing software ... etc. (we also once compared some of them here in the forum in some older threads) An algorithmic and output quality wise even nowadays still hard to beat vector tracer is VectorMagic. Also the Inkscape's included, by their dev team custom color quantisation etc. optimized Potrace & Autotrace based tracers, when setup and used the right way, do produce good quality results. They just lack some better UI usability.
And Affinity? I doubt they will ever can compete here, since as I already mentioned, developing a good tracing algorithm from scratch is no trivial task at all and reusing something already good existing here is mostly associated with a payment of license fees (for example in order to reuse Potrace in commercial products one needs a specific payable licence)!

Couldn't read the supplied dump file, but the initial error message is usually enough here to suggest, that the internal APh app LINK for the libcocoaui lib might probably have not been restored the right way from the backup.


You can check that when navigating into the above (yellow shown) app folder.

NO and you for sure won't find any for cielab, as the conversion D65 -> D50 is already performed internally through their Profile Connection Space for modern ICC profiles. - You will find some for sRGB as iccMAX references instead.

I tried to use the search suggestions posted here but none of them worked on my mac.  Nevertheless, luckily I found an old copy of my template in perfect conditions.
Thanks everybody for your support and help suggestions.  Nice to have a support community on this GREAT Photoshop-alternative, image editing software.

The Wacom software is for sure the better place to look after that and to change any possible customizable setting there then!

Well for most RAW file formats, the TIFF format is the base (mother) of reinvention here.

There are two different places you can drag the layer to so your "whatever" in no way makes it clear which one you are doing.
If you will just post a screenshot of this part of the Layers panel with the parent layer fully expanded, this would tell us what you mean, but you still stubbornly refuse to do even that, so I think I am not going to waste any more of my time with thrying to help you with this. Life is too short for that.
