To do so you would make for your button example a rounded rect shape and apply some metal style to that, then apply a FX 3D effect and some embossed text or signs etc.

Not sure if you maybe mean something else here with stack, but you can setup/define multiple different export options for each slice. So if you have multiple identical slices (why ever) you should be able to do so.

That was no defend, I know quite well of these problems and do encounter those too, especially on the Win platform here. Thus I personally use the tools mostly on OSX here, since on Win I can't very well. The software even often has performance problems with small files and if you throw big ones in there, well... Also using .Net managed code for certain tasks might not be the best for performance here.

Well IMO real 3D tools like Blender, Maya, Renderman etc. are probably much better suited for creating these things than ADe/APh here.

Convert the shapes to curves, then switch over to the Node tool and delete/open selected points or intersection points (you can also add points if needed), so you are leaved with what you are looking after. See here bottom of the help page.

What @v_kyr means by "common system navigation panels" is whatever the operating system supports for navigating through folders & their sub-folders in all accessible storage locations, including local & remote (cloud) ones. I am not sure if you are on Mac or Windows, but for Macs, the Save window offers both a search field & a popup list of suggested storage locations that includes a "Recent Places" category.

This way it's an image layer (image), just perform a rasterize command on the image layer (right click then rasterize in the layer panel) in order to make it a pixel layer (pixel). Afterwards the magic wand tool should usually work, if you convert the image layer to a pixel layer. Alternatively you can also use the Layer -> Rasterize menu command therefor, it does the same.

Well and if you have Z-lenses and those aren't corrected, even the NEF file could maybe read in, it's equally bad. - I assume it will take some time until third party RAW software will support the new Nikon mirrorless line here, so actually Nikon Capture NX-D might be your best choice now and yet.
